Wow im really suprised to read the negative/bad reviews on this product as i have always had wonderful results! Virasolve as been my first option for years now and I have also recommended this product to others who have all had the same great results too. I have used zovirax once and found i got the same results but paid more for it so didnt buy it again!

I only ever get coldsores every now and again ~ if im really run down and overly stressed. Unlike most people who get them in the corners of their mouth i get them inside my mouth, and before you ask yes they are coldsores and not mouth ulcers. Normally these are in a line along my front bottom lip creating a very red sore area. Virasolve eases the pain and itchiness (although i dont get a lot of this) as soon as i start using it, its amazing the way it completely numbs the area and it definately stops the coldsore from getting any bigger.

Virasolve does taste a little funny, but then so would any sort of cream you have to put into your mouth so i dont think i can complain about that, its not really a taste but more that funny feeling of knowing its going numb, a bit the same as when you use bonjela in your mouth. The first day your meant to apply every hour and i do this or sometimes if its bad a little bit more often and find i can get rid of a coldsore in an easy 2-3days. A tube easily lasts me a year (or longer) so im definately happy with the size and price. Definately my pick of products and will continue to recommend to others :)

I suffer from coldsores every now and again if I get run down and over stressed and have used Virasolve to combat the coldsore. I haven't used another creme so have nothing to compare it too but I have no complaints about Virasolve, it seems to do the trick and eases the itchiness and pain that the coldsore creates. I appreciate the way Virasolve keeps the coldsore area soft and doesn't dry it out causing a yucky scab!!

The area where I usually get coldsores are on the corner of my mouth and Virasolve numbs the area and keeps the coldsore from getting bigger, and stops the coldsore from cracking and/or bleeding. It must be the anaesthetic that helps ease the pain and itching tastes a little funny which would be my only complaint, but that taste soon disappears as I can't help but lick my lips all the time and half the time forgetting I have just applied Virasolve to the coldsore.

The tube of Virasolve seems to last a long time as well, and I apply it all the time, probably more than the recommended dose directed actually, but I find that the coldsore disappears faster and stays smaller if applied more often. I think the cost is reasonable and usually buy 2 tubes at a time so I can keep one tube at home and take one tube with me when I am out and about.

DO NOT use this product, like the other reviewer, I have had the WORST outbreak you can possibly imagine. Have had the cold sore virus for years and the first time was in my teens - I'm now in my 30s and have always had the virus suppressed at the tingling stage. What was different this time? Instead of Zovirax which I normally use, I was recommended to try the "cheaper" cold sore cream which, according to the Chemist, works exactly the same. Huge mistake. Not sure what's different in the Virasolve but it DOES NOT WORK.

The coldsore got worse and today it has swelled up with a yellow liquid blister as large as 1cm. What's worse, another cold sore has also appeared adjacent to the huge one. I have a WEDDING to attend tomorrow and this is absolutely devastating. Please, for goodness sake, STAY AWAY from this cream. Its definitely one of the worse experience of my life.

I've used this product twice now, and found it made my cold-sore symptoms worse.
Virasolve aggravated my cold sores, causing them to be bigger and last longer than normal. The more I used the product, the worse my cold sore got, and one ended up damaging the skin until bleeding.
I won't be using this product again and I would not recommend it to anyone.

Frankly, after years of suffering from cold sores in winter; the bleeding lips if I laugh too hard or yawn too wide, the itching and tingles, the pain of the splitting, etc... I doubted anything short of a month-long course of pills would solve it... until I popped into the pharmacy and asked about some other options.

The lovely, helpful lady showed me a collection of tablets, pills and ointments that she said would do the job. When I asked her outright "For under $20, what's the best option?" she pointed to this tube and said "This is the most effective you'll get for under $20, and it's good stuff."

And a mere four days later, she was proved correct. Not only is there no pain, there's no cold sore! OK, this is a symptomatic relief, meaning it only takes care of the sore, not the virus that creates it... but since there is no cure for that virus, this is all you will get.

I can live with that. :)

Other than a VERY occasional twinge, akin to a small pinprick, if I yawn too widely, the damage is all gone, and there is no pain or itching, usually associated with healing skin, so this stuff is top-notch in my books.

Just a thin coating every hour for the first day, and every 4-6 hours for a few days more, and the cold sore is dried up and gone... not even any ugly flakey scabs to deal with either!

Overall, if you suffer from cold sores, get to your local pharmacy and buy a tube of this stuff, you'll not regret it!
