I have been a huge fan of Rescue Remedy for a good number of years now. I first started using is for my son to help settle him, the effect was quick and with him being colicky as a new born, we found this product to fast become one of our regular go to preferred treatments of choice. Fast forward 14 years and we have now discovered this is now available in pastilles. This is fantastic news as my son also struggles with Autism and finds this product not only helps in stressful situations, but is also in a handy container he is able to keep in his bag for use during the school day.

In the past I have also used it on my dogs, especially during Guy Fawkes to settle and calm my boys down when they have become incredibly agitated and distressed while Fireworks were being let off in the neighbourhood. I also kept a bottle on hand for long car trips as it often helped when they got fussy or a little car sick in the car.

I like to add that I found the Rescue Remedy available in alcohol in New Zealand far more effective that the Rescue Remedy in spring water that I seemed only able to find while living in Australia. I have, do and will continue to recommend this product for anyone seeking a calming, non addictive product.

Ever since I was a child I have known what rescue remedy is, my mum swore by the stuff and I had it several times over my childhood (when accidents happened for example). Back then I had no understanding of what it was or did but that mum would spray two sprays under my tongue whenever anything happened. It wasnt until later on in life as I grew older that I understood the meaning/in's and out's of rescue remedy.

As a 16year old even though mum had used this with me as a child I went through a stage of thinking it was rubbish and wasnt keen on the idea at all. That is until I damaged my ankle and spent 8weeks going to physio three times a week and in a lot of pain and even more upset because it meant I wasnt going to be able to compete in my latest competition for dancing. I started taking rescue remedy every day for some of this time as well as the arnica spray in the same brand. It definitely made a difference and had me feeling a lot calmer. After that I went back to letting mum hand me the bottle if I was ever anxious at a competition or such like.

Due with our first baby later this year I plan to try this out in early stages of labour in the hope it will help! As some of the other reviewers have noted everyone has different reactions to this but its definitely worth a try I reckon Smile Icon

I have tried Bach Flowers Rescue Remedy Drops for several occasions. I got a bottle of it back in 2004 when I had a couple of scary or nerve inducing events coming. I had heard good things and had this recommended to me by several friends. So I got my little bottle and I kept it in my purse for emergencies.

The drops taste a little like a herbal or floral alcohol. Having been a kid once, I know what flowers taste like! The first time I had reason to use this was on a flight to Wellington to see David Bowie. My main "scared" moments on any flight are take off and landing. I took this at both ends of the flight, and I must admit it worked. I did feel fairly relaxed, but kind of had a outside looking in sensation as well. Like I suddenly wasn't really there.

The next time I used the drops was again on a flight to Wellington. Unfortunately, that landing was so rough that I threw up into the little bag. My friend never let me live that down. But again I think the drops kind of helped, except that they did unsettle my stomach on top of the cup of tea and biscuit I had on the flight. I did avoid drinks after that.

Lastly I used it on my wedding day before walking down the aisle. It worked, but I wish I hadn't used it. Again, had the kind of out of body reaction so the whole ceremony just felt like a fuzzy dream. So this product while it works is not for me. Though I think it would be a brilliant addition to a first aid kit for those dealing with shock from wounds, etc.

I have heard a lot about the different rescue remedy products and know of a few people who swear by them, but I myself have never had a need to try them personally. However recently when my father passed away, the first real experience of death for my children, my 6yo was diagnosed by our GP with mild separation anxiety and stress, which was resulting in her not sleeping and being uneasy in new situations and when away from us. Wanting to help her deal with the symptoms of this without medicating her I did a little research into the rescue remedy products.

Initially I was not interested in trying them for her, it seemed the products contained alcohol, not a huge amount but alcohol none the less. Even though it stated they were fine for children and you only needed a small amount, I personally was not interested in giving alcohol based products to my 6yo. A little further investigation and I discovered you could get alcohol free products. Still feeling jubious, as what I had read suggested perhaps that it was the alcohol that caused the calming affect, I decided to give rescue remedy a try.

I was torn between starting with a product that she could use during the day or the rescue remedy sleep. I thought if the sleep product could help her get back into a proper sleep routine perhaps her anxiety and stress would reduce. After discussions with our GP, I decided to forego the sleep product and to get one she could use during the day instead. So we purchased a container of the rescue remedy sleep pastilles (alcohol free).

The pastilles come in a fantastic little tin that you can carry in your bag or pocket, the lid is press released so easy to open and close, and the pastilles are available in different flavors; we settled on the original flavored ones. I explained that they werent a lolly that could be eaten willy nilly (apparently to much can have a laxative effect) but were similar to the vitamins and fish oil that she can have one or two of when wanted. I did not explain the intended purpose of them as felt that being 6 she would just say what she thought should be happening.

She took her first one on a day when we knew she was having a relieving teacher at school. I gave it to her on the way to school in the car. She chewed away happily, saying they tasted very nice, then showed me how they stuck to her teeth lol. I'm guessing they worked for her as unlike other days when shes feeling out of sorts upon arriving at school, there was no leg or hand clutching, no tears and no fighting to go home. Yay :) we did not use them daily just when a situation would arise where she was feeling less than calm, they seemed to do the trick.

I also have an 11yo son who has adhd and social phobias among other things. I decided to try him with them aswell and he found they helped to calm his nerves considerably. Not wanting to give my kids a product I had not tested, I too decided to give them a go when I was feeling quite anxious one day, and yes they do appear to work. I only tried the one, they are a hard jube, and yes chewy. They do taste nice, a flavour I can not pin point, but they definitely seemed to reduce that anxious feeling at the pit of my stomach...perhaps its the chewing action that does it LOL Icon

All in all the pastilles seemed to be a great product that works well, the whole family has tried them now, and only one reported they felt no difference. Out of the original tin bought 2 months ago we still have about a quarter left, so definitely worth the money spent and definitely something handy to have near by.

The only one I have tried of these is the drops which I have found to be quite effective. I am a very emotional person and also do have troubles with anxiety and panic attacks. I now regularly take anti anxiety medication but in my younger days I swore by rescue remedy drops and still have drops in my bathroom cupboard which I use from time to time.

Through my university days I would be a mess with studying and taking exams and the pressure of deadlines and that is when I first started using rescue remedy drops after having been to a naturopath who recommended them to me. I had been having trouble sleeping and having panic attacks when I even looked at my university readings or assignments.

The rescue remedy drops really helped, they weren't a cure but they took the edge of and my emotions more balanced. I found if I put a couple of drops under my tongue before university and before doing any assignments at home I remained calm enough to get things done.

The other time I used them was when I was in the early stages of my labour with my son now one, I wanted a natural labour with him having had an epidural with my daughter, so tried a variety of methods to manage my anxiety levels. The rescue remedy helped me during the early stages of the labour, my son was posterial so it was quite painful so the drops I felt helped me stay calm and be able to breathe through the contractions.
