Until I recently discovered Lucas Papaw ointment, I was a bepanthen supporter through and through, but when I got my last tattoo my sister suggested Lucas Papaw ointment to me. To be completely honest, I had never actually heard of it before, so off I went to the local pharmacy. I was pleasantly surprised by the price. I expected it to be much more than the $8.99 I paid for it.
It is a thick ointment, and spreads well so you only use a thin layer. Due to a less than perfect immune system, I can often have trouble with the healing process when it comes to tattoos. But for the first time ever, the two I got on the same day, healed magnificently and really quickly. I applied the ointment twice daily, morning and evening for 7 days and then just when I remembered after that for the following two weeks. I had very minimal scabbing, no itching, and no redness. I have never had tattoos heal this easily before.
Since then, my whole family have been using Lucas papaw regularly for skin complaints. It is brilliant to ease itchiness from an insect bite, which is fantastic for my teenager who has meds for his due to allergies. It helps reduce the swelling and redness quickly and stops the itch. This is especially good because it has meant sometimes he has not had to take his medication at all, depending on the severity of the bite.
We have found it to also be good for dry skin, dry lips, cuts and bruises, and even pimples. It was a saviour when I got the worst sunburn of my life and the aloe vera just didn't seem to be healing me. And the tube I bought is still going strong even with almost daily use within our family. I am definitely converted. It is awesome stuff and I highly recommend it.
I found out about this ointment as I had tried heaps of other nappy treatments for my son (most had worked on his older sister but nothing worked for him) so in desperation I asked the pharmacist for advice and told them what I had tried and since then I have used it heaps. I like the smell and with very bad sinus that is always blocked it says a lot that I can smell it at all.
The tub says you can use it for numerous things but I haven't had the chance as I am too careful about sunburn because I burn so easily and I find I don't like the sticky feeling on my own skin so not really wanting to try and see how it would help with itchy bites and scratches.
I would recommend trying it as it is great and clears nappy rash really quickly and easily but I did find that it only works for some kids, my younger son had a bad nappy rash and I tried some thinking it worked well for his older brother but it did nothing to help him so I tried a few of the other nappy creams and found one that worked so even though it is good it might not work for everyone as easily.
All my kids are toilet trained and I still have some paw paw ointment in the house.
This is one of my must have products we always have a tube of pawpaw in the cupboard as it is so versatile. In fact I now have to buy two tubes as my daughter loves it and always has one tube in her bedroom. We use it from everything to dry cracked lips, nappy rash, insect bites, and sunburn.
As a nappy ointment it works fantastically at clearing up nappy rash usually clearing the redness pretty quickly. It is also great on dry lips better than I think a lot of other lip glosses are and it feels really nice on the lips too not too oily or sticky. I like the feeling on my skin if I get a little sunburnt on my nose as it has quite a cooling effect on the skin and is not too heavy.
My daughter likes to put it on her insect bites as she finds it helps with the itching which is a bonus for me as I dont have to listen to her moaning about being itchy. I totally recommend adding a tube or jar of this to your cupboard it is a great product.
I am suprised that more people haven't reviewed this product as I think it is the best thing since sliced bread....Lucas Papaw Ointment is the best product on the market hands down!! It has many uses and I like how it comes in the tub container and the tube which fits nicely in a handbag or pocket to have it on call all day.
I was first introduced to Lucas Papaw Ointment through my job as an Early Childhood Teacher and when I changed the children's nappies and applied Lucas Papaw Ointment to any nappy rash it always eased the children's irritated skin and cleared it up no time. Since then however I have discovered all the other uses of Lucas Papaw Ointment as I have used it on sunburned skin, dry and cracked lips, rubbed it on grazes and used it on dry skin around my elbows and on my feet/heels and after a few applications the skin is smoother!!
This is a great product for new-borns to elderly people as it is a natural product, and since it has healing properties with no side effects, is gentle on the skin and just works a treat. Young children will allow it to be applied as they know it doesn't sting...a truly magic creme that helps young children cope with a grazed knee or offers them relief from a bee sting. Maybe just mind over matter for the children but hey whatever works sometimes to make them feel better right?!
I like the feeling of Lucas Papaw Ointment when it is applied to the skin, it doesnt leave an oily feel and it seems to absorb into the skin faster, just leaving the skin feeling smoother and softer. If you haven't tried Lucas Papaw Ointment go out and purchase some now as this is a product you need to try, you so won't regret it!!
I recently discovered Lucas' Pawpaw Ointment after reading a magazine article where it was included as an essential to have in your handbag at all times. I totally agree, it is essential.
I always keep a jar of it at home in our first aid cupboard and I buy the tubes to go in my handbag, on my desk at work and also in the car. This stuff is invaluable, I have used it for sunburn, dry lips, cracked heels, nappy rash, bee stings. Basically any bump or scratch that my family has out comes the papaw ointment.
My five year old son also loves the stuff, it is one of the few ointments he will happily let me put on his sores/scratches etc because it doesn't sting.
My husband suffers from quite bad dry and cracked lips, he also swears by this stuff. He used to use Blistex, but finds papaw ointment faster at clearing up any cracks and also a better consistency, less greasy feel.
I also think that it is priced very well, the tubes you can pick up are a good size for carrying around, but are still large enough to cover nappy rash a number of times!
This papaw ointment is simply awesome! Im an early childhood teacher and so have known about it for a few years now (and have always thought when i have children im totally getting some!)....
I have used this on every bite, pimple, rash (nappy included) and have had awesome results! Love that its natural and ive never seen any child have a "reaction" to it yet. I also have friends who have used it when breastfeeding with the confidence that it didnt matter if there was some still left on your skin when baby fed next. I also use regularly as a lip balm.
I recently brought another tube (other had run out but hadnt replaced) when i bad excema on my eye lids... I didnt want to use a steroid based cream on such a sensitive area and was getting terrible burning as it was ~ using this had great results and stopped the area burning as well as itching.
Such a handy product to have in the house (or even your handbag/nappy bag) as it can be used for so many reasons! Totally recommend :)
