Product reviews...
I have to firstly say I am a big user of lip balm and I am a male, for some reason my lips are pretty delicate and can feel the effects from being out in the weather quite a lot, so having the chance to review a lip balm was a no-brainer and I put my hand up for that straight away.
The first thing you notice about the twistick kiss me softly lip balm is that it is a unique shape. It is very much like one of those stick type deodorants that you may have seen at some point, you move the dial at the bottom and it moves the chap stick up as you require it, of course it is very small compared to a stick of deodorant. At 13 grams it doesn't sound like much, but have a think about your standard lip balms, they are usually in a round twist type tube or in a small pot, or maybe even a tube.
The small twist type tube can be very small and easily misplaced, especially for a guy who carries everything in his pockets and has no man bag, they also seem to take a while to apply onto your lips due to the small size, small pots you need to put your fingers into and who knows where they have been, and tubes seem to get liquid in them at some point and they seem gross.
Twistick kiss me softly lip balm is hands down the best packaging for lip balm I have some across and here's why:
The whole thing is protected by a full length cover, you can easily see how much you have left due to the transparent case, it is wider then a normal stick one so it takes way less time to apply to your lips, it sits better in my pocket for me as well.
Onto the ingredients it is made from all natural stuff, which is great to see, it is palm oil free, airplane safe as well so you don't need to worry about it when travelling or worry about where the ingredients have come from, and you know what, it tastes amazing. It tastes of orange and the first time I used it I couldn't stop applying it, it's almost like I wanted to eat it.
So for something so simple the twistick lip balm has really got everything just right, it seems to also be lasting quite a while and I will be tracking this down again once this one runs out. Do your lips a favor and try this lip balm.
I was really excited to be selected to try this out. I suffer from very dry lips and have done my whole life, and as such I have tried many many different types of lip balms, and moisturisers and what not, most which feel ok the first day but then just feel gluggy, heavy, sticky or whatever with every use after that, potentially being non-effective within a few days.
When this arrived, I liked the shape and size of the container, no more crazy fishing around in my bag to find a small tube of gloss. I also liked the design and simplicity of the container. I like simplicity when it comes to products like these. simple designs that state what it is and are matter of fact. I took the lid of and did the all important sniff test...initially, I was a bit iffy about the smell, and a bit unsure if I wanted to use it and how long the smell would last on my lips.
I am glad I had to review it as it meant I had to use it whether I wished to or not haha Okay so I love the stuff but my review is a bit up and down. Ok as I said, the smell can be a little less than appealing, but my advice, do not let the smell deter you, you will grow to like it, and it does not smell like that on your lips, and is not over-whelming anyway. The container etc, brilliant! Ease of use, top notch! Amount you get, this is my favourite bit...you actually get your moneys worth. Now I know I said ease of use, top notch, But...
Yes it is easy to use, take the lid of, twist the twisty thing at the bottom and apply. But I found I could not tell if I had applied enough, or covered all my lips, and this was a bit confusing. So it actually glides on really well. Just enough so you are not caking on the stuff, but it is so light that you can't feel it either...and this is actually awesome! And what is even more awesome..I have been using this for coming up to two weeks now. My lips are so soft, and it still feels as excellent as when I first started using it. It really is that amazing.
Furthermore, I used it every day as and when I feel the need. So sometimes just once a day, but other times three times a day (depending on the amount of time spent outside, wind, chill, sun and rain factors) and I have not even made a dent in the stuff. $12 is not something I would usually pay for lip care products, but seriously this stuff you use little and it goes far! It is definitely definitely worth the $12 price tag, and then some! I absolutely highly recommend it.
I was so keen to try this lip balm for my son who is nearly 3. He has quite sensitive lips and skin and with the harsh winter winds we have had his lips were pretty sore. During the winter he gets quite bad windburn to his lips and then in the summer they also get irritated from the sun so we need to keep up a lip balm ritual with him. Except during the winter nothing seemed to be working especially with a runny nose irritating things further.
I chose this variety out of the 3 up for review as its description seemed to be exactly what we needed with the beta carotene to prevent damage and the carrot seed oil to soften the lips. When it arrived I was pleased with my choice, I opened it up and it smelt really good you could smell the orange and you could smell the bees wax so it made for quite a nice smell without it being harsh ingredients that I was putting on my son's lips. He was keen to try it straight away knowing exactly what it was for.
The tube is really big, states that it is 3 times the amount of a standard lip balm but it seems even bigger than that because it is quite wide and rolls up quite a long way. The shape is actually perfect because the long narrow standard lip balms often snap when my son uses them as he is still young and a bit rough. These being a lot thicker you can be rough without the risk of them snapping and they are also a harder texture than standard lip balms like chapstick we have used.
We have been using this for about a week now and several times a day, as it is a non greasy balm he doesn't mind having it on his lips so he doesn't just wipe it off which has meant it has actually been able to stay on and have some effect. His lips aren't 100% perfect yet but they have improved at least 90% so i'm sure with continued use we can get them better and actually prevent them getting any worse. I have attatched a before photo to show what we were dealing with so it is going to take a while to heal them up again.
Overall really impressed with this product and will definitely be buying again when this one is all used up.
