Product reviews...
Well we decided to go on a long bush walk with the kids (age 6 and almost 5), the walk was going to take 3 hours so took a packed lunch with us to eat at the dam, so I threw in the clean me twistick. Its so small that it sat in my lunchbox so I didn't lose it in the bag. When we got to the area to have lunch the kids used the toilets and the only soap in there was a cake soap which they have never used before. So out came the clean me stick, water on the hands rubbed the stick on one had a couple of times and they rubbed together to lathered up and then just washed off.
If there isn't a tap around this would still work well with a drink bottle as long as you have something to wet your hands and wash it off. it was easy to use and the lid fits well without having to actually twist the soap out of sight completely so its ready for the next time. It says 250 washes so that will be interesting if you can get that much out of it, I can't really tell at the moment, but for $12 you would hope it lasts a while as thats not cheap for something so small. if it lasts a long time then I would most likely buy it again, it is a great little tool to have in the bag when camping and doing bush walks, it doesnt leave your hands really dry like normal cake soap and I'm not a fan of soaps on my hands unless it is a pump soap. This one didn't worry me too much.
We had all been gardening, even the kids, and my friend had the thought of bringing the soap outside so we could wash hands without having to go inside and be clean when we did go inside. The kids thought that this soap was rather funny as it doesn't look like most soaps.
I gently washed my hands with water and then grabbed the twistick and took a sniff (I find myself sniffing strange things before using them since joining KIWIreviews) and found it pleasant smelling and easy to use, just rub hands together and it lathered up well and washed off easily. A lot of soaps make my hands feel dry and almost sandpaper like but this one left my hands feeling nice and clean without drying my skin out.
This soap is the perfect size to be able to put into a bag or pocket (I am a huge fan of just putting what I need in my pocket) and as long as you have some water then it is an easy way to clean hands. I notice that it is travel safe (airport safe) so definitely something I would be buying to go on a plane with me.
I would use this soap again and being New Zealand made is a huge plus.
I like to have clean hands, I'm someone who will have hand sanitize solution in the car or in my wife's bag for use when I feel the need for it, so I thought this would be something worth trying for those times when you need something a bit more heavy duty.
The first thing that struck me was the size of this, it is tiny and thus perfect to fit in the bag, glove box or even just in my pocket. With it stating that it can do 250 hand washes I was interested to see how it would and just how well it would stand. This is easy to open and easy to twist up to get more soap which is extra good when one has dirty hands and needs some soap to get clean.
The first trial with this was for use outside, we were tidying up our woodpile and I knew we would all have rather dirty hands afterwards, nine people all up, it would be needed for sure. We wet everyone's hands and put some soap on it, it did feel at first that there wasn't enough soap coming on to our hands but it lathers up really well. It leaves a nice, faint smell and doesn't dry out the skin too much, this now has its place on the kitchen windowsill for those moments when the bathroom is packed to capacity with five kids and that dirt HAS to come off.
It's a high price but I think in the long run it would work out well.
I was given some of this to review just after I'd just got back from a plane trip where my luggage was limited to 7kgs, and so with the struggle it had to get it down to this level, I very much understand where every day items that come in small packages are a great thing indeed!
This soap is very small - wonderful for trips away and particularly perfect where you need to keep your luggage light, especially great for perhaps tramping where you really want a decent soap but without carrying too much! I can see myself keeping this as a permanent item in my handbag for those just-in-case moments too. As I always carry a bottle of water, it wouldn't be too hard to wash my hands on the go.
I see that it mentions that it is gentle and safe for all skin types which is great to know, especially when you do get a great citrus clean smelling result from using it. I didn't seem to lather up as such, but it did feel like it was cleaning well. It's antibacterial so definitely gives a good clean.
It's easy to use - you remove the lid and apply to wet hands (or a wet cloth). Although it has a twist mechanism, I found you could leave the top twisted slightly up and still get the lid on, so you didn't need to twist it each time. I didn't find the soap got too yucky, but apparently it's easy to leave the lid off and let it dry out a bit if you need to.
Overall it's a great product to have on hand, and with it's only perfect sized container surrounding it, there are no complaints for this great little product... except it's not cheap. However it's not outrageously expensive considering it includes the soap container too. So if it sounds like it could be handy for your lifestyle then I can confirm that it works as promised, so it's definitely worth the outlay. I imagine it will last quite a well as I've been using it a few times and barely made a dent in it.
