Living on my own and often working late nights and attending meetings etc I am always looking for meal ideas that are quick and easy but taste great and are reasonably healthy. I have often used meal kits similar to the Farrah's ones but other brands, but this was before Farrah's brought out their new range. I have always preferred the Farrah's wraps as they are softer, fresher and don't fall apart so I am pleased that they have brought out some meal kits that are now regular features in my pantry! I have already tried the enchiladas and the taco's, and was excited to see this burrito kit in my latest review parcel. Wanting to share it with someone I took the kit around to my partners place for tea. He is a fantastic cook (better than me!) so I knew he would be able to make the kit shine.

Opening the box all of the pieces needed were in there. I liked the suggestion of cooking some rice to include with this meals, as it bulks the burritos out even further without having to buy a ridiculously big amount of meat. There were also some other great suggestions including chargrilled corn but sadly we had no corn. I also love that you can follow the suggestions for salad, or you can just use what you have - which is exactly what we did! We simply used up the veges in the fridge so that we didn't have to go out and buy anything else.

Once the rice and chicken was cooked (the rice was great with the addition of some of the sachet seasoning) we were ready to serve. Looking at the amount of food we had, we decided not to put them in the wraps and served up our plates with the salad, rice and veges. It was like an open burrito on a plate! The flavours were just amazing. Nice and mild (as I'm not a big fan of hot spices) but plenty of flavour that it wasn't a boring dish. The rice was a lovely addition, the spices worked well and made it a tasty dish on its own rather than just plain rice, but it also worked in well if you put it with a bit of salad and the chicken too.

This kit will definitely be one I purchase to have again. I am interested to try it with other vegetables next time, and to put it in the wraps as I imagine this will be just delicious too! A versatile meal kit that can be used in a variety of ways. Thankfully they pop up on special at the supermarket frequently and this is when I choose to stock up my pantry as it makes them even more worth it.

Our family tried the Farrahs taco meal kit recently, and we loved it, so the kids were excited to try out the burrito meal kit! The box makes the meal look delicious and has clear statements on the front such as ready in 20 minutes and how many burritos it makes which was 8 the perfect amount for our family of 5. On the back the extra ingredients needed are set out clearly and there are tips for different meal ideas and extra things to add.

The main recipe is for steak burritos which is what we went with, Farrahs also suggests chicken which would be just as good. The meal was ready in 20 minutes like the box stated and my husband found it easy to follow the directions. The ingredients list was quite a bit different to what we are used to with our usual burritos; such as Mexican rice (rice with burrito spice mix and chopped tomatoes), black beans and red cabbage. My husband loved the addition of beans although he was sceptical at first. I really enjoyed the rice and loved how it was so different and probably more authentic. The rice was a little spicy for the baby but both of the older kids really enjoyed it.

I have definitely been converted to the Farrahs meal kits, the flavour in them is so much better than other brands I've tried. Also I really love how they tell you on the box how you can mix the ingredients up and try new ingredients, it stops the burritos from becoming boring and you can try new ones every time! These are awesome to have on hand in the pantry especially on late nights after the kids sport etc.

We have previously been lucky enough to try both the taco and enchilada meal kits from Farrah's, and we really loved the flavours, the ease of preparation and the authenticity. That is why we were very excited to try the third meal kit in their range- the Burrito Meal Kit. Burritos are a weekly feature in our house- great for using up leftovers and something the whole family can enjoy assembling. However, the preparation, as with many other Mexican meals, can mean that it's a struggle to make them after a long day at work. We were excited to see if this kit could live up to our very high expectations following the experience of the other products in Farrah's great range.

The box is really helpful- it contains the recipes to make both the cover image, and an alternative if you don't like the look of it. It also gives you a list of other ingredients required which are not included- which is fantastic as it saves all of the guess work or an extra trip to the shops. The products inside the box were very well packaged and protected, without excess packaging, which was a real bonus for me.

We decided to make the main recipe, including the Mexican rice using the ingredients contained within the pack. The instructions were really clear and the recipe was remarkably easy to follow, and food was ready and on the table in no time at all- definitely much simpler than trying to pull it all together from scratch by yourself.

What really impressed me, however, was the taste. Again, Farrah's have provided a really authentic Mexican flavour, and burritos bursting with character and spice, but without the intense biting heat which often is associated with it. I loved that the salsa provided with the kit was a touch spicy, so if you wanted to spice things up you could easily do it, but you didn't have to if you didn't want to- a truly family-friendly meal.

Once again, Farrah's have created a fantastic product (although this high standard is now nothing less than expected from them as I have never been disappointed with one of their products). To me, this time-saving and authentic kit is great value for money as it gives me an all-round family favourite meal in the fraction of the time it would take me to prepare it for myself. Great work Farrah's- I can't wait to see what you produce next!

Never tried Farrah's items before so was very interested when I saw these. Believe me, I was not let down. Upon opening box with all goodies, this product stuck out with its bright colours and yummy looking pictures. Great way to show what this product is used for.

Our boys were excited to help make these and cooked the mince that we were having them will. We added a little of the powdered mix to our mince and also a little of the sauce that came with it. Boys aren't to keen on spicy items, but to our surprise, it wasn't that bad. Powder smelts inviting and sauce smelt spicy but after sampling a little it wasn't too bad. Great combination of flavours.

These Burritos were very easy to put together and didn't break like some brands do. We heated ours in the microwave for 30 sec so they weren't cold and I think that's what made them easier to handle. We had a lot of fillings to our Burritos and were happy that they never fell apart on us. can't wait to try these along with other fillings.

These are something I will be recommending to other people, and with the bright colours will be easy for people to find. Am going to pop out and buy the other variations of these next week to try as well, as on hot nights these are perfect and so quick and simple to make up due to having everything flavour wise in the box. Well done Farrah's on a simply amazing product loved by our children.

These are great, a really yummy and convenient meal that's ready to go. I have always avoided these meal kits as I do worry about things being a little too spicy for my fussy family, but after giving them a try they really are mild, and I had no complaints, which for Mum's like me when your trying something new, is a hands down win! I liked that there were several recipe options on the back of the packet, .... but also there was room to go your own way with these, which is what I did.

I'm all about using what I have on hand at the moment, inside the pack there was a sachet of spices to sprinkle on the beef or chicken. Today we had mince dethawed, so I decided to 'go with it' and I cooked the mince and then sprinkled the spices on top, we made the fillings and then it was easy to 'accommodate' everyone as those who wanted to use the sauce on their burrito could, and those that didn't want any extra taste didn't.

Product wise, I can't say enough good things about the burrito's, I have used the Farrah's wraps before and they are soft, they stay together even when you pile them full of goodies, and they taste divine! As we were eating my youngest daughter had the sauce dripping down her hand as she had piled so much on, and she looked blissfully happy tucking in, her face summed up the eating experience for us!

I went back and read the instructions again when I was cleaning up, as I noticed that the burritos on the packet looked a little more cooked than ours, it was then that I learnt that you can toast them once they have been filled, a step I have never done before, but now I am keen to try! I think these are great for families as they encompass ease and flexibility, and I found I had some of the spice sachet left so I can make another meal. I would definitely recommend adding these to the shopping trolley and giving them a try.

I have fallen in love with the Farrah's meal kits just as much as I fell in love with the wraps when I first tried them. The meal kits are so family friendly with mild spices and natural ingredients that make the meals high in flavour while being mild enough for even the children to enjoy. We do love burritos so I knew these would be a hit with the whole family like the other kits in the range were. The children saw me pull the box out of the cupboard and were really excited about dinner.

The kit is very easy to follow making meal prep and cooking a breeze with only a few short steps and a small cooking time needed to create a wonderful meal. We chose to use chicken for our burritos but the packet also suggested using beef steak which would be equally as nice. I had never used rice in a burrito before so loved this change in idea and the spice mix went so well with the rice making the meal very tasty. Having the meat, veges, rice, and the wraps made the burritos very very filling so the kit is perfect for a family of four and we had leftovers also.

The burrito sauce was the perfect accompaniment to the burritos and again had a mild spice so that everyone could enjoy it. My children were impressed with the burrito kit and commented that it was the best dinner ever. I love that the farrahs wraps included in the kits are the same great quality as individually packaged farrahs wraps, that are soft and fresh and don't crack when you roll them into the burrito package an absolutely perfect kit that created a sensational meal!

Mexican food is always a hit in our household, and my children love wraps because they can eat them easily with their hands. When I saw the Farrah's Meal Kits I quickly requested the burrito kit. An important reason why I love wraps and burritos is not only because they are delicious to eat, but because I can manage to get my children to eat plenty of vegetables in them. I was lucky enough to receive a Burrito Meal Kit and the box was certainly eye-catching especially with the bright pink colour. I checked the recipe that was included on the back of the box and noticed that my children wouldn't eat the Mexican Rice or the black beans, because of this I decided to just wing it and make my own recipe up.

I started by rubbing the spice mix on my steak and left it for a while before cooking. While I was waiting I chopped the lettuce, tomatoes, red capsicum, grated carrot and grated cheese. I then cooked the steak and there was a delicious spicy smell wafting from the meat. I gently heated the tortillas and then started filling them, firstly the lettuce, then the other vegetables, steak, cheese and then finally the Burrito Sauce. I closed the burritos and proceeded to give them to my children and my partner. My youngest child instantly pulled his apart to get to the cheese and steak, my other two enjoyed eating them and said they tasted yummy. By the time they finished eating the majority of the burrito was gone. Both my partner and I thoroughly enjoyed ours and agreed that the spice mix on the steak was a tasty addition.

Overall the burritos were winners in this household and I am thinking of making some so that they can go in lunchboxes for healthy lunches. I will purchase this kit again and am excited to experience what the spice mix would taste like with chicken instead of steak.

Now that my local mal had a Mad Mex I've been able to enjoy a good burrito again (it had only been almost ten years) and as I wasn't huge on the Old El Paso range, I hadn't tried making any at home. Getting this I was keen to make burritos for dinner and I decided to cook some up for dinner, only vegetarian instead of with meat (I love the fact that these are all vegetarian friendly, a big plus as even though I'm not 100% vegetarian, my mother is and it's great that she can eat this too). I opted to follow the recipe on the back, as then I wouldn't have to think about dinner too much, except vegetarian instead of meat.

I opted to use the spice mix with my vege protein and let it sit and cook as one would the meat as I wasn't sure how the two flavours would mix, but need not have worried as it ended up mixing with it well. I was so keen to try the finished product, the only problem was that I overloaded the wrap and for the first time ever, my Farrah's wrap split! While the finished product was yummy I wasn't enamoured with it and so wouldn't worry about buying this kit in the future. This is a nice option but not my number one.

I love burritos which I first tried several year ago while on holiday in America, they sold them everywhere! and I have been eating them ever since coming home, more often lately as there seem to be little Mexican food places popping up everywhere which is great! I have never made my own burritos before however as I always had the mind set that they wouldn't turn out anything like the ones which you buy in store as the whole folding process of burritos seemed like a challenge in itself.

The burrito meal kit comes with everything you need in order to make your meal taste great, with 8 flour tortillas, burrito spice mix and burrito sauce all included. In order to make this dish I decided to go with the steak burritos over the chicken burritos, as my partner is always telling me we need to eat more red meat, challenge accepted. We had had some beef rice risotto for dinner the previous night and I had put some aside knowing that I was going to be making the burritos tonight thinking that this would be a great alternative to using Mexican rice (although upon the making of the burrito process I found that this is very easy to make up so I will do so next time). I coated the steak in the spice mix and left it to cook in a little oil until cooked through. I then warmed my tortillas in the fry pan and topped them with the rice, steak, lettuce, tomatoes, sweetcorn, avocado and cheese.

I was amazed at how easy the tortillas were to fold, though they are Farrah's wraps which have proven fail proof time and time again no matter what I do with them I have never seen them crack, rip or tear. I popped the ready rolled burritos into the sandwich press until the cheese was melted and the burritos were golden, slightly crisp and sealed all over, this only took a couple of minutes. At this point I realised that during my burrito building I forgot to add the burrito sauce so instead I served this up in tiny little dishes on each of the families plates and we used this to dip our burritos in instead, as our burritos were served with wedges this actually made a great dipping sauce for these also. The flavours of the spice mix and sauce were all so divine and complemented the meal well.

The burrito meal kit is already on my shopping list for today although I plan to try it out with chicken this time, it is great to know that I am able to create a healthy, filling and delicious meal that my whole family loves and will happily devour in not much time, perfect for me as I work until 5.30 most days and don't get home until after 6 so dinner time is always such a rush. Thank you Farrah's for another hugely successful product that makes meal times a breeze, I can not wait to see what you think up next.

My family are a big fans of Farrah's wraps and always have some in the house as we know they taste great and won't crack. I therefore had high expectations for their burrito kit. The kit consists of three components: tortillas, spice mix and burrito sauce. There is a recipe on the back along with a link to other recipes on the Farrah's website. I admit I never follow the recipe but use it as a guideline mainly because I have a fussy family and knew they wouldn't eat it as illustrated.

I chose to use chicken breasts as my meat as we had just picked up some on special. I diced the chicken and threw it in a bowl with the spices, put the lid on and gave it a shake. Once the chicken was cooked it looked really brown and although my husband and I loved the taste of it but my daughters refused to try it. I put bowls of burrito fillings on the table so we could make our own: cheese, lettuce, grated carrot, guacamole, chicken and burrito sauce.

My husband and I found the spices and the sauce to be a lovely mild flavour and the sachets were very easy to open. I even had some of the chicken cold the next day and it was delicious. The tortillas were the great quality I expect from Farrahs. They were the small size of their snack wraps but we stretched the meal out by using some of their other wraps too.

I am pleased we tried the burrito kit and we will be buying it again as it is so convenient.

I adore Burritos especially when they are made by someone else. I have to admit I have never tried to make one myself as have always put in the two hard basket. Upon receiving I read the recommendations at the back and I have to say Cabbage and Mexican Rice did not appeal to me so instead I opted to make something a little different.

My youngest wanted to help me so I got her making the salsa. I chopped up the onion for her and she just had to cut up the tomatoes. The problem with her is she does the one for me and one for the bowl process so we ended up using more tomatoes than I would of liked - but she was having fun. I also gave her a coriander plant so she could pull off the leaves and rip it apart. It did suggest lime juice to mix with but I only had lemon juice so she got to stir that up instead and then I placed it in the fridge.

While she was busy eating the tomatoes I cut up some mushrooms and the rest of the onion and fried it in butter. I mixed the steak into the Mild Burrito Spice Mix and left to one side while I cut up an Avocado (that also ended up in little Miss six mouth) and then grated some more cheese. I had brought a Greek Salad and in retrospect probably was not the best combo to use but Miss 6 was happy as meant Cucumbers. I then fried up the steak and by that time my husband and eldest daughter were home. I heated the Tortillas in a clean frying pan and everything was ready.

I put the Steak, Avocado, Salsa, Mushroom/Onion Mix, Cheese and Mild Burrito Sauce onto the Tortillas while my husband was in charge of folding them and putting onto the Sandwich Press. It did say only required for ten seconds on either side but as ours cooks both sides he did for as long as needed. I did think about serving in tin foil like the kebab shops but as the sandwich press had done such a great job sealing it there was no point. The only complaint was there was olives included in the Greek Salad again not my finest moment in thinking ahead, besides that, everyone enjoyed. There are a total of eight Tortillas and for everyone's second helping everyone made there own, although my husband still operated the Sandwich Press.

As a meal it is great, it is as quick as you would like - it stated twenty minutes but as I differed from the recipe and had a little helper took me a little over thirty minutes. I do feel like I ended up with way more dishes then I would of liked and as a total meal I did find it rather expensive considering I had to still buy other ingredients, but again that comes down to personal choice. I did enjoy the coating on the steak and I really enjoyed the Burrito Sauce which is surprising as I am not usually one for Salsa sauce. The girls and hubby really enjoyed and all said they would like it again minus the olives. Definitely something I would consider.

The best thing about having a build-your-own-meal session is watching the kids eat a proper dinner because they can control what they pile on to their tortilla. It takes all the effort out of preparation because you just line up a healthy selection of fillings and let everyone take the selection they want. Easy! We even divided up the meat because attempts at adding spices to the mixture are invariably met with a refusal to eat anything at all.

So we cooked most of the mince with the spice supplied, but also cooked a small amount separately and did not add anything at all. The children were told that one dish contained plain meat and they could choose which one to eat. Predictably, Mr Seven stayed with the plain version; Miss Five is more adventurous, however, so she had both! There was a good selection of salad vegetables so they could choose what they liked just as long as they took plenty. We even served the burrito sauce separately so they could decide how much to take.

Mr Seven enjoyed his meal but he had one criticism. He wanted cheese, and when he was told this particular meal did not need to have cheese with it because there was enough variety already, he got annoyed - as far as he was concerned it is not Mexican food if there is no cheese included! Miss Five loved her concoction and gave it the thumbs-up when asked to comment as her mouth was stuffed full of tortilla!

The adults all thought the meal kit was a great idea, particularly for busy times. When the price of the wraps on their own was taken into account, we all thought it was good value for money. Although we stayed fairly close to the fillings suggested on the packet, it was clear that any leftovers could be incorporated into the meal. I would like to try using lamb next time, and my daughter said she might try it with hummus and leave the meat out altogether. There are plenty of options we could try in the future.

In terms of quantity, the amount was about right for four adults (or, as in our case, three adults and two children). We all had plenty to eat; the only extra we had was an extra 100 grams of mince which we cooked separately for the fussy eaters! The spice mix itself was delicious, not too hot so that we could really taste the spice combination. We did find that it was a mistake to fill the tortillas to capacity as they then fell apart. And reheating a rather generously filled wrap in the toasted sandwich maker was a mistake we will not be making next time. Otherwise, however, the concept is great and we will be looking out for this product again.
