Enchilada's are a tried and true quick, easy and tasty meal to make - three ticks for meals in a busy household, so when I saw a Farrah's Enchilada meal kit on offer to review, I requested it! I was delighted to see this in my review box and talked husband into having them for dinner a few nights later.

Opening up the box I discovered inside the following - 8 tortillas, spice sachet and a sauce sachet. The extras they suggested to purchase were chicken, avocado, a capsicum, an onion, and cheese for the top. I did add in a few other things - to bulk up the vegies in the meal (and sneakily get more into my children!) There are clear, step by step instructions to follow on how to make the enchiladas which is great - especially if you are a) a busy parent that gets interrupted 1000 times as you are trying to make dinner, or b) a first timer to making enchiladas rather than buying them pre-made.

The box itself is eye catching, and each variety (ie enchiladas and taco) is coloured differently, meaning they are easy to distinguish between. The sauce, spice and tortilla packaging is all very easy to open - which is very much appreciated, as there is nothing worse than trying to open packets mid preparation, dropping or spilling it and getting VERY frustrated! The time from preparation to cooking was around 30 minutes which is not too bad in my opinion!

In terms of the taste of the spices, the sauce and the tortillas, I was concerned as to how my picky children would go, as any level of spice seems to be too much for them! I myself found it just right - hubby said it was not spicy enough, and the 3 kids said it was okay for them too - though my spice loving son was probably the most into them! I do think that possibly for 8 enchiliadas, more meat should be added, as I felt a bit stingy filling them, rolling them and popping them into the oven.

All in all this is a great kit - it definitely gives you a starting point in terms of making enchiladas. It helps to you what you could do to personalise them, and also that the ready made ones at the supermarket are easy peasy, and way more tasty to make yourself!

Being a busy full time worker who also runs a business outside of my full time work, I am always on the lookout for quick, easy and reasonably healthy meals that I can create in a short amount of time but still sound amazing. I have tried a competing brands meal kits in the past, but knowing how much I love the Farrah's wraps I was excited when they brought out their meal kits. Having tried the taco kit already, I was excited to try the enchilada kit for dinner tonight.

Upon opening the box I discovered a pack of 8 flame grilled tortillas, a spice mix sachet and a sauce sachet. Along with this, I had 490g of chicken (the box suggested 450g), one red capsicum, one brown onion and some grated cheese (I am not an avocado fan so wasn't going to add this to my meal as the box suggested). The instructions on the box were clear and easy to read. I diced the chicken as the instructions said, and put it in a bowl and mixed in the spice mix. I diced the capsicum and onion using my nicer dicer (one of the best kitchen inventions I have ever purchase!) and heated up a dash of oil in a frying pan. Once the pan was hot enough I added in the capsicum and onion and cooked this for five minutes as instructed. I then added the chicken and cooked it too, although a bit longer than it suggested as it took a wee bit longer for my chicken to be cooked through. Once done I put the pan aside, also suggested in the instructions.

Wanting to make sure I spread my mix out evenly I cleared the bench and laid out all eight of the tortillas. As I started to put the mix in the middle I quickly realised that the mix I had wasn't going to cover all eight tortillas - well I could, but each one would be almost empty. So instead of spreading over all of them, I put a quantity I was happy with in each one and ended up filling only four. I was a bit disappointed with this as I had expected to fill all eight and have plenty of left overs for the next few days. I rolled up all four and placed them into a lined baking dish, and drizzled over the sauce and some grated cheese. These cooked in the oven for the time suggested, but I felt I needed to turn it on to grill for a few minutes before bringing them out to get the colour on the cheese. I do have to note though, I am a cheese lover so probably had more on than what I should have!

My house smelt amazing. The lovely mexican spices and the smell of browning cheese - just devine! I served up two enchiladas and sat down to enjoy them. They were absolutely gorgeous! Such a good amount of flavour. I added more cheese than suggested when cooking as I use this to bring down the level of spice if needed as I don't like sour cream. I think I added the perfect amount for me and very quickly both of them were gone!

Overall, I will purchase this kit again but next time I would bulk the mix out more. Whether it be with more chicken, or adding some more vegetables like grated carrot, zucchini and extra capsicum so that the mix can cover all 8 tortillas.

I absolutely love mexican food, the choice of spices and creamy sauces are always a nice dinner time meal. Enchiladas are one of my favourites and the resulting meal from Farrah's enchilada meal kit is delicious. The spice mix with the chicken is very rich in taste and has all the authentic flavours you would expect, while the topping sauce compliments it perfectly bringing that level of smooth tomato to settle down the spice and give a nice saucy finish.

I found the kit instructions making it an easy to prepare meal perfect for busy families. The instructions are very clear and accompanying pictures make it easy to read and understand. I often make my own mexican seasonings as brands on the market like Old el Paso I find too strong and some of the ingredients are a bit harsh on my stomach. The Farrah's kit on the other hand was a nice mild family friendly recipe and the ingredients were natural consisting of spices and herbs that flavour the food without adding a heap of artificial flavours and colours which is important to me as a mother.

The enchiladas were delicious I served mine with sour cream, avocado, and a sweetcorn and bean salsa. I loved how the packaging showed you some different ideas for serving suggestions and sides as I found this very helpful in thinking about suitable sides. I also visited Farrah's website where you can find lots of great suggestions too. The sour cream, avocado, beans, and corns went perfectly with the enchilada's as you only needed something light as an accompaniment as the enchilada's are very filling and the kit makes 8 so is a perfect amount for a family to have a good sized meal.

While living at home with my parents when I was around the age of 14 or 15 years old, we went to the local supermarket and mum picked up some ready-made chicken enchiladas from the butchery department. At first glance, they didn't appeal to me so I wasn't particularly looking forward to eating them. After trying them I was proven wrong, they were absolutely delicious, since then I have enjoyed eating them each time. However I never thought that I would be able to make one as delicious as the store bought ones taste, I think I am a pretty average cook hehehe.

When I opened the KIWIreviews box I was ecstatic to see that I had received a Farrah's Enchilada Meal Kit. The first impression I got of the box was how stylish and visually appealing the front of the box is. The brightness of the background behind the writing compliments the dark background and plate, this allows the delicious looking enchiladas to really capture your attention. Being made in NZ this was an appealing trait, along with the no artificial colours or flavours. The box states the meal kit makes 8 and is ready in 30 minutes, which for this busy mum is an instant winner.

Upon opening the box I saw the tortillas, they were a mix of ground corn and flour and had been flame baked. The colour of them was gorgeous. Also included in the box was the enchilada sauce and the enchilada spice mix, both of which had an authentic spicy aroma. I decided to play it safe and make the Chicken Enchiladas using the recipe on the back of the box. When it came time to prepare and cook the enchiladas the instructions were straightforward. What really surprised me was that I had the majority of ingredients needed already in my house, the only thing I needed to purchase was an avocado. The kitchen smelled amazing while the enchiladas were cooking and I found myself waiting impatiently by the oven. When they were ready to eat I was concerned how spicy they would be for my children, even though the box stated "Mild Spice" on the front. I am glad we added the sour cream and avocado to the children's ones to dull the spice a little. I absolutely loved the flavour as it was just right for me, and I couldn't believe I had made these enchiladas in my own kitchen!

I highly recommend this Farrah's Enchilada Meal Kit to everyone who loves Mexican food and wants to try making their own at home.

Mexican is our family go-to food. It's tasty, fresh and (for the most part) really healthy. Enchiladas are my all time favourite- I love the crispy baked wraps combined with the tomato topping and cheese. Making them at home has often been disappointing, as I've struggled to get that really authentic flavour. That is why I was really excited to try the Enchilda Meal Kit from Farrah's, hoping it would give me the truly authentic Mexican meal experience I have been craving.

Firstly, the packaging is great. The box itself has a recipe plus an alternative printed on the back, along with a list of other ingredients you will need. This is so useful as when you pick it up you know what else you need to buy, instead of getting home and realising that you're missing something. All of the ingredients are well labelled (this seems like a small thing but makes so much difference when you come home after a long day at work and you're mind is not quite as sharp as it was). When you consider the price in relation to the ingredients, I would say that it is very impressive value for money.

The recipe itself was really easy to follow, and as the spice mix and sauce were already made, the majority of the prep work has been done for you. I managed to whip up the enchiladas ready to go into the oven in less than 20 minutes- what a win for a simple weeknight dinner.

Most importantly (in my view) the taste was truly authentic. The mix of corn and flour in the tortillas took me right back to eating enchiladas in Mexico. There was a bit of a spicy kick to the filling from the spice mix, enough to warm you without being hot. The tomato sauce on top was beautiful- rich and smooth and matched perfectly with the melted cheese on top. Paired with some sour cream and home-made guacamole (made in the time that the enchiladas were cooking in the oven), this was a really lovely meal. The other great thing was that it made enough for our family of three for that night, plus the next day for lunch, solving the constant early-morning conundrum of 'what is there to take for lunch?'.

Overall, Farrah's have really raised the bar with this meal kit. Authentic, moreish and just delicious, this time-saving box of goodness is one that you will not regret buying. We will most certainly be going back for more.

Enchiladas are a family favourite! However I must admit that they are not something that I have actually tried to make from scratch myself before, purely for the fact that I actually had never really thought about doing so as buying a fresh batch from the butchery at a supermarket just seemed so much easier and they always taste good, even though they are rather costly so not something we tend to get as often as we like! I was excited to see Farrah's had a enchilada meal it as this seemed like something that I just needed to try!

The enchilada meal kit comes in a bright yellow box and contains 3 of the components needed to make a delicious family meal in no time at all, the corn and flour tortillas, enough to make 8, enchilada spice mix and lastly the enchilada sauce. All you need to add is either chicken or mince (or I guess any other meat that you feel like getting creative with) and some onions and capsicums and any other vegetables that you may wish to add. Grated cheese is a must for the topping as everything is better with cheese right and sour cream to top it all off.

I was amazed by how simple, quick and easy the enchiladas were to prepare. I went with the chicken option as this is what I had in the freezer and also what we are used to having in our enchiladas. I chopped 2 chicken breasts up into small bite size pieces and coated them in the spice mix, and left this to sit while I prepared the vegetables as I still hadn't been to the supermarket I only had tomatoes and carrots on hand so I diced the tomatoes and grated the carrots. I cooked my chicken and then added the vegetables until the carrots were slightly soft. The chicken was then divided down the middle of the 8 tortillas which I then rolled up and placed in a baking dish to cook, after pouring on the enchilada sauce and sprinkling with some grated cheese. 15 minutes later and my meal was complete and ready to serve with a side salad.

The enchiladas were very yummy, and very filling and the family loved them however we did find them to be VERY spicy for our taste buds so we were relieved that we had some sour cream and avocado in the fridge which helped to lessen the spice ever so slightly, we have a very low tolerance for spicy foods it may seem! Next time I make these (yes there will be a next time) I plan to add only half of the spice mix to my meat to keep the heat down a little and maybe play around with a few ideas until I find a way to make it a bit more mild for my family. I absolutely love how the wraps in true Farrah's style didn't rip, tear or break even when cooked!

A yummy meal which is worth trying out if you haven't yet, would be great for those who love Mexican dishes and a bit of heat to their food, if your like me and like less heat try reducing the amount of spice mix you add! Well done Farrah's on yet another amazing product.

Enchilada's have got to be one of the best meals ever and have been a firm favourite of mine for quite some years now. Normally (mostly due to time factors) I buy these pre-made however I have on many occasions made them from scratch both by just winging it/making it up as I go as well as with a meal kit such as this one from Farrah's. Having tried another brand of a meal kit to make enchilada's I was interested to see what the differences and similarities that this Farrah's product would have and also whether the same great Farrah standard of wraps would pass over into this product. I can quite confidently say that once again Farrah has proven their wonderful standard of great food and I will be buying this product again.

Having made enchilada's before I found that the steps involved, products needed (the extra's that aren't included in the box) are all pretty standard and there was no surprises here (which is a good thing). I must say that I do love the design of this product, it will be easy to spot on the supermarket shelf and for lack of a better word it looks rather funky. There is clear, easy to follow instructions on the back of the packet as well as suggested alternatives which I thought was a great idea (beef enchiladas are on the shopping list to try)! Also, the packets inside the box are super easy to open - thank you Farrah's - there truly is nothing worse than a hard to open packet in the middle of cooking! I followed the steps perfectly and from start to finish (fork into my food that is) it was around 35minutes total in time which I thought was pretty perfect.

When I ripped open the packet of spice mix to coat the chicken I initially got a bit worried this product would be a bit to hot for my personal taste buds however once the product was finished I was 100% proven wrong and really enjoyed the mild spice of heat that this meal had. I loved the freshness and taste of the wraps, and the fact that they didn't rip or break when being rolled was a major bonus for me as I've had this happen too many times to count with other brands. The taste of the sauce was really nice and mixed well with the spices on the chicken/veg mix and the wrap along with the melted cheese. YUM!!

One thing I will add is that I think this meal could easily have catered for more chicken and more vege's - perhaps not that it needed it but simply to just make the meal go further (then again perhaps I am just used to stretching meals out to get the best value for money haha). This doesn't at all put any negative on the product as it really is a ten out of ten for me, I can't recommend this product highly enough and hope that you try it for dinner sometime soon! I will certainly be adding this to the menu on a regular occasion and am looking forward to trying out the beef mince idea sometime too. Thank you Farrah's for another quality product meaning healthier meal times in our household Smile Icon

I love enchiladas but last time I cooked them for my family they turned their nose up at it so I thought I would use the Farrah's echilada kit to make lunch for me for the next few days. I adapted the recipe on the box to suit my own preferences and what I had in the house. I added mushrooms and omitted capsicum. Also because I knew I would be reheating it at work I didn't add the extra things after cooking.

The echilada kit consists of three components: tortillas, spice mix and sauce. There was a recipe on the box and links to further recipes on the Farrah's website. The tortillas were the top quality you'd expect from Farrah's. Just like it claims on the box they won't crack or split when rolled. They were nice and fresh and tasted great. The spice packet was easy to open and was more than enough to coat the chicken (I know because I used about twice as much chicken). It gave the chicken a lovely mild Mexican flavour. There wasn't anything spicy at all. The sauce was also in an easy to open sachet and just the right amount to coat the top of the enchiladas.

It felt like a long 15 minutes waiting for my enchiladas to coat in the oven but the reality was that the whole thing from me entering the kitchen to me eating was 30 minutes and that included dicing the chicken breasts. I divided the enchiladas into four portions. One I ate fresh from the oven and the other three were in microwave safe dishes to be taken to work. I am pleased to report that these are just as good reheated as they are fresh. My workmates were impressed and a little jealous of my delicious looking and smelling lunch. This is certainly a kit I will be buying again. It was so easy and quick.

I've been a fan of Mexican food ever since I spent a few months in Tucson, Arizona and that was always what I missed coming back to New Zealand. Happily, the last couple of years has seen an influx of Mexican food, though not all have tasted as good as what I've been craving since I came home. I'm already a fan of Farrah's wraps, so was keen to try this. I like that the packaging is not only clear on what the product is but also the general heat you can expect from the dish as well as how many enchiladas will be made with the given ingredients.

The back gives a recipe that you could follow using chicken and also gives a second suggestion of beef mince enchiladas, I, however, went with neither of these options, going for a vegetarian dish instead. I sauteed onion and garlic before adding the vegetarian version of mince to the mix after I heated this through I added almost the whole pack of the spice mix. As usual, the wraps don't rip or tear when rolled up and they all fit nicely in my baking dish. I poured over the enchilada sauce, sprinkled cheese and let it cook. My kids ate theirs happily though they found it had a little too much bite for them. My mum and I had two and a half each and thoroughly enjoyed it.

I would happily get this again, a separate mix for the kids but that means more of this mix for us adults which can't be a bad thing.

We live extremely busy lives throughout the week - with work, school and then after school activities we are usually not home till after 5.30 so when it comes to dinner I need something that is fast and can be on the table in a blink of an eye and most importantly yummy - basically we live on Pasta, Rice Meals, Wraps and Mexican food, unless of course I am on to it and I prepare something in the slow cooker. When I saw this I jumped at the opportunity - not only is it Enchiladas but it states that it can me ready in thirty minutes - challenge excepted.

I only wish I had looked at the back of the box before I ran into the groceries and brought some chicken (I also wanted to buy an Avocado but looking at the selection that was available I passed on this.) It gave some yummy options like Corn Salsa and Pico De Gallo which we will definitely be making in the future. I made it as instructed covering the chicken in the divine smelling Spice Mix and then frying some onions and capsicums then adding the chicken. Placed mixture on the Tortillas and covered in the Enchilada Sauce and cheese. Done and dusted. I didn't do the Avocado option but I plan to try this in the future.

I sat down on the couch while my daughter prepared a small salad and then dinner was ready. It did take a little over thirty minutes but nothing worth crying over. I was concerned about it being spicy so I added sour cream to it and in retrospect I did not need to worry as it was fine and not over powering at all. Everybody enjoyed it and I usually pass on Salsa Sauce but I really enjoyed this. I found the added spices tasted great and it worked as a meal - it even looked professional like Restaurant style and I was rather chuffed at myself.

My biggest problem with it is the price when you have to still get ingredients on top it could add up quite a bit but when you throw in the convenience of the whole thing it averages out alright. Definitely a meal we would like to have again and I am dying to try the different options that was suggested. There is even a picture of Beef Mince Enchiladas which I have never tried before but we are all curious about.

It was going to be one of those evenings when we all had to go back in to work - familiar territory for teachers when there are school plays, prizegivings, sports practices - you name it, we were bound to be involved! Working like that, you get very creative about deciding what sort of fast food will be appropriate to keep the energy levels up, and ensuring junk food is not the only option around. On this particular evening, we were sorted - three of us were going to meet at a colleague's house which was close to our school and would allow us to enjoy the luxury of a proper dinner time.

I had already offered to cook as I had my enchilada pack to try, and the pack promised that it would take just 30 minutes to prepare. I had purchased all the necessary ingredients and dropped them off at her house before work, so we were set to go. Because this was about time as well as process, I actually set a timer to see if we could accomplish the preparation within the 30-minute time frame. My friends thought this was a bit extreme, but they were willing to go along with me in return for having their dinner cooked for them.

I followed the directions closely, cooking the spiced chicken, capsicum and onion in a pan. I did find that a dash of oil was not quite enough - chicken breast can be quite dry - so I added another generous dash and stirred it as it was threatening to stick. At this stage it smelled delicious. After several minutes, when it was cooked through, I could not resist tasting a piece while my colleagues were not looking, and found it was quite hot. However, there were more ingredients to be added, so this was not a good indication of the final dish.

Next, I added the chicken mix to the tortillas and topped them with the sauce (which was part of the kit} and some cheese. Once they were safely in the oven, I organised the salads which would accompany them - a mixture of chopped tomato, cucumber, radish, and coriander leaves, all topped with a light dressing; and mashed avocado, garlic and Thai dressing in a separate dish. At this stage I was up to 14 minutes.

While we were waiting for the enchiladas to come out of the oven, we shared a bottle of grape bubbly. It had to be non-alcoholic, of course, because we were all going back into work after dinner, but served chilled it was almost as good as wine! The pack instructions stated that the oven time should be between 15 and 20 minutes. In the end we left the dish in for the full 20 minutes as it was not quite ready in 15, but this would probably vary according to the oven - this one is noted for being slower than it should be!

The meal was finally dished up 36 minutes from when I started. We thought that was acceptable, and we all enjoyed the finished product. The heat I had noticed when I had tasted the meat mixture earlier had all but vanished: in fact, I would have preferred it to be slightly hotter. However, I did pile on the salad and the avocado mixture, and my colleague added some sour cream that she had in the fridge; this reduced the heat even more. That was probably a good thing considering that we would be running round again in an hour's time, so it would be kinder on the digestion. We all gave it the thumbs up, agreeing that it was a much tastier and healthier alternative to burger and chips from the local takeaway!
