I don't know if I like this drink. I honestly don't know how I feel about this drink. It's the first carbonated drink that I would describe as
'awkward'. The can is a good size, and while the colouration of the can is a tad garish, it's insignificant with respects to the taste. But that is what I can't pinpoint. I know I love the taste of feijoa fruit, and this drink does have the familiar taste of feijoa, but I feel it's a tad off.
The best way that I can think to describe it is that it's like it is ALMOST feijoa flavoured. But it isn't exactly feijoa flavoured, and thus, despite it tasting nice and tingly, I'm aware that it doesn't taste right. It's the weirdest drink I have had. I have drunk many of them (maybe 30+) in my quest to figure out if I like it or not. I suppose that is enough in itself. If I can drink over 30 of them, it must be good?
Beyond the direct flavor, the drink is highly carbonated and very refreshing to drink. I'm truly at a loss at how to review this one. So much internal conflict!
I think feijoa's are one of those things that is a bit of an icon to 'kiwi kids' - one of those things that most people will talk about eating as they grew up (and still eat now). Therefore fresh up hit the nail on the head when they designed this drink - it really does taste like the feijoa's we all know and love! This is definitely a loved product in our house, especially on a hot summers day
We often just buy these at the dairy or more so the petrol station when out n about traveling somewhere in summer. However they are also available in larger six packs at the supermarket etc which would be a much cheaper option if you drink lots of them or just want to keep them handy in your fridge. In saying that the price of them individually isn't over the top expensive, especially considering they come in a bigger 500ml can. Often I will choose this product over others for this fact alone - you get more value for money and have more juice/fizzy to enjoy!
I love how this cans all stand out with their nice bright designs - makes for easy finding when you are in the petrol station looking at a few fridges. I have tried all the Fresh Up Big Fizz flavours and while I do really love this one, my favourite would actually be the orange flavour but this is definitely my husbands first choice. One of those things that just comes down to individual tastes. Fresh Up has also nailed it with this mixture - you actually get to taste the juice while still being fizzy instead of being overwhelmed with that yucky carbonated taste you get with some brands.
If you haven't already - go try this drink today - you wont regret it!
I absolutely love feijoas they are such a nice seasonal treat for me as we have a huge feijoa tree at home but when they are not in season there are still a few ways to get that feijoa taste. I love these cans of feijoa flavoured fizzy drink and will quite happily buy a can when I spot them in a dairy, they are pretty cheap too so you don't begrudge the price you pay.
I have tried all the Fresh Up big fizz cans and this one of course is my favourite being that it has that fresh feijoa taste. I like them as they just taste like fizzy juice they aren't overly gassy so they don't have that carbonated taste you just get the taste of the fruit juice. Even when they go flat they are still nice to drink as then it is just like you are drinking normal feijoa juice rather than yucky flat soda.
These are great on a hot day as the can is just so big that you get a great level of cooling down and they really quench your thirst. I am the only one that drinks the feijoa but my family love these fresh up drinks too so they are quite a common summer drink of choice for us!
Feijoa is a flavour that is a huge hit in our family. My husband can't get enough of the flavour and I enjoy it as well. Fresh Up is a brand that we trust when it comes to juice and other beverages. The Feijoa Burst flavour is absolutely our new favourite flavour.
The can is striking and vibrant in it's colour. That means it is easy to spot on the shelf. With the "man-sized" can, it also stands out. 500 ml cans are becoming more common place, but this was one of the first products I remember in this size.
We have bought this at the supermarket in a pack. I found this to be a great cost effective way to purchase the drink for home-use. My husband has been known to buy a can of this at the service station and bring it home, which is a little less cost effective. The other place we will often purchase a can is at cafes, when we don't feel like a coffee.
The flavour of this drink is really nice. The lighter carbonation means you can taste the drink more as your taste buds aren't fighting to do their jobs through all the bubbles. The feijoa flavour is really good. The only negative for me, is that I can never quite finish the full can in one sitting!
I grew up living off feijoas as a kid and still love them to this very day so when I was introduced to these cans of feijoa fizzy I thought I had died and gone to heaven!! They are the best tasting fizzy drink on this planet and at one point there I was drinking several of these cans a day to satisfy my craving.
I was buying single cans from the diary until someone told me that I could buy 6 packs from the supermarket or from the Warehouse so then there was no stopping me I was straight down to stock up and by buying them in a 6 pack it worked out way cheaper so I was happy on so many levels!!!
The super cool graphics on the can make them easy enough to spot as the orange colour with bubbles stick out from a crowd, the picture of a feijoa cut in half makes my mouth water whenever I see the can!
I prefer the drink to be icy cold as I find it more refreshing but it is still drinkable at room temperature or if it warms up from being out of the fridge for too long without having been drunk straight away (usually it is gulped down in no time so it doesn't have time to warm up!)
I like the brand Fresh Up and I can guarantee that it is a brand that can be trusted and with the added bonus of knowing that this drink has 20% real feijoa juice in it, it doesn't get better. As soon as you crack the can open the smell of feijoa hits you and it tastes even better.
If you are a fan of feijoas, juice and fizzy drinks you must give these a try as I know for sure you will not regret that decision at all.

There is perhaps no fruit more quintessential to New Zealand that the Feijoa.
These green grenades of flavour grow so well that during the New Zealand autumn they will choke your lawnmower if you can't eat them fast enough. The mower will release a sweet, fruity, almost intoxicating aroma making you want to kick back, relax and enjoy the last of the summer sun (so stay focused).
