After recently receiving a gift of a basic fibreglass practice bow, stringless, I went on the hunt for a bowstring and some suitable practice arrows. Having no joy at another store, I was directed to HnF and told "...they have the best range of that sort of thing really. We don't stock spares."
I entered the store, and was promptly confronted with the most visually cluttered shop I have ever encountered. A maze of shelving, set in a semi-random array throughout the store. I was almost at the center of the store before I had a clear view of the main counter, whereat 2 staff and 2 customers were having a blatterfest, on such world-shattering topics as road works and preferred shell loads for self-loaded ammo.
I spotted the archery section off to the right, and went and had a wander. I made eye contact with one of the staff members as he sauntered casually around. He made no efforts to approach me and see how he could help, despite my (I thought) obvious signs of being totally lost amongst the jumble. What really got me was that amongst the numerous eye-cntacts with the staff member, there was even a greeting of 'hello...' as he walked past. Still no effort was made to see if I needed assistance.
After almost quarter of an hour, and watching 2 other customers entering the shop and being greeted immediately while I remained ignored, I turned on my heels and departed, never to return. I'll source my archery goods on my next trip to Wellington.
Overall, totally disappointed, and somewhat bemused by their total lack of customer service.
