At State we've been helping New Zealanders with their insurance for more than 100 years. Today we manage over a million policies for more than 460,000 Kiwis. In that time, we've worked hard to build up a pretty good understanding of New Zealanders' insurance needs.
What we've found is that people tend to think about insurance in terms of houses, cars and other physical objects, but we all know that our most precious things are our families, and perhaps our photographs or family heirlooms. That's why we want to find ways to help protect the things that are important to you.
This is where we try to set ourselves apart. We run our business with you - our customer - at the centre of everything we do. Whether we're providing you with protection for your most prized possessions or we're supporting the local community, we pride ourselves on the way we go about doing business. This is also true of the way we do things inside State, and you can find out more about our inner workings below.

I have been a member of state for as long as I could afford my own car so about 11 years now. State was the only insurance company that would insure me with a sports car when I was 17/18 years old. Their price I feel is very good and I'm happy when they can combine my car and contents together. I had a no claims bonus with them and that worked well for me aswell.
Recently I got my house broken into and things stolen I'm lucky my insurance was up todate and I got onto the phone very quick. The person I spoke to was awesome and very very helpful, they sent me out an email right away to put all my claims down aswell as taking them over the phone. The only problem with sending it via email was that I had no computer anymore. When I rang them back they sent the forms out via mail and then I borrowed a computer to find photos to prove I owned the items that were taken as I had no numbers or any other information about the items.
State was very good and understood I couldn't print off the proof and were happy for me to send though the photos via email (since I had a borrowed computer now) and I even took a photo of the claim sheet on my phone and sent that to them aswell and sent the hard copy in the mail. I was very pleased on how quick state was with my claim after sending in my photos and claim sheet 4 days later I got a phone call saying everything was in order and they would send it all though to the company they use to get items replaced.
Once we picked up our good we noticed things werent right with the items and rang state back and they once again sorted it all out with the company telling them to add thigns to our list for us to pick up. There were no umm's and ahhs' about it, state were very quick and had it all done very fast.
I will carry on with state as I know and trust them and I know they will come to the party when I need them.
