Fairy Doors product reviews

Attach your special Fairy Door low on a wall, high on a bookshelf or in another secret location.

Once your 'lil fairy door is attached the fairies will know how to use it and come in and out.

They only come out at night and sometimes are known to exchange notes and gifts with their children friends.

Various sites now offer these doors but I got ours from www.littlefairydoor.comClick out to an external site

Fairies, they bring with them a world of wonder and delight. Are they real? Do you believe? I am a huge believer and lover of all things fairy. When I had my first child (a boy), followed very closely be my second child (also a boy) we would spend many an hour in the garden searching for even just the smallest sign of a fairy. Naturallyas my boys got older, the joy of the fairy hunt was diminished, but I still believed.

Years later when we were blessed (unexpectedly I might add, as our family was long finished) with a little girl. I could not wait for her to be old enough to join me in the garden searching for the illusive fairy. But unlike her brothers, being a girl and all, her belief in fairies continued on, and the older she got the more she too loved the idea of fairies. She would spend hours in the garden making fairy circles (gardens), covering them in glitter and leaving little notes, gifts, and food for them and she would be full of delight and excitement when the next day the fairies had left her a gift of gold (dollar coin) and a letter in return.

While surfing the internet oneday I came across fairy doors. Beauitful little doors, lovingly decorated, that you could attach to your childs bedroom wall, add stickers to the wall, fake grass on the floor and make a tiny little fairy garden in your bedroom. These doors allow the fairy a safe entrance and exit from your childs room. I loved the idea and couldn't wait to do the same in my little girls room. She had so many fairy themed items but not an inside fairy garden.

I started by first purchasing her fairy door. Upon arrival we were both so very happy. It was beautifully made with obvious love and joy. Painted with purple glitter paint with white trim and a cute little step and door-knob. It was simply gorgeous. The door came with double sided tape to attach to her wall. So we carefully chose the perfect part of her wall to attach and where we would be able to build her garden. It was easy to attach to the wall and I could not wait to finish her garden.

Sadly after a week the door fell from the spot on the wall. We reattached it again but it kept falling off. We bought new tape and reattached but the same thing kept happening :( we did not want to screw, tack or nail it to the wall as we did not want to damage the door or put holes in the wall so after a while the door was put safely away in her draw. The indoor garden never happened but we still believe and she still makes a fairy circle at least twice a month :)

I was lucky enough to win two of these two years ago and they are the best things, only wish we had known about them earlier. Both of the girls got them for Christmas presents from us. Now you can buy all sorts of extras to go with the door including pools, houses, dragonflies.....

The doors come plain and it is up to you to decorate them. The kit comes with various paints and glitter so the world really is your oyster. Both girls got to choose their own colours and my husband got to work designing them. It also comes with a cute little door handle. Once decorated to your little ones high standards you just need to find a location in their bedroom for where you want it to be placed.

Because my youngest was only one at the time she did not understand that she was not allowed to play with it so we had to put it up high out of her reach. Whereas my eldest wanted it to be on floor level so the fairies would not hurt themselves. Countless moves later they are both now content on their placements. My youngest - now 2 - has it placed near her bed just above the skirting, surrounded by butterflies, flowers and a fairy house. My eldest has hers on her book case and has a shelf blinged out for the fairies including flowers and jewels.

These little doors have opened up the world of imagination, help keep their rooms clean and bring excitement to everyone. Every once in a while the fairies visit during the night and leave small gifts for the girls if they have been extra good. My daughter won an award at school so the school fairy visited and left some books and rubbers, where as for easter the easter fairy came and left "grow me" pets. They have received jewellery, butterflies, hankies, poems, unicorns - all sorts of magical things. When the rooms start to look messy I remind them that the fairies don't like messy rooms so they probably should remember to clean them.

When out walking on the beach or through the various walk ways both girls keep an eye out for something they think the fairies might like and are always 'updating' the area in front of the houses. We have some small fairies that keep guard of them just so they know our house is fairy friendly. My eldest is dying for her teeth to start falling out as we have a small container already waiting that special tooth and she has made a place next to the door so the fairy will know where to find them.

I love the look of amazement both of them get when a gift is left and the screams that always follow. Or if something amazing happens how they both say 'I hope the fairies know about this....'. At first they expected gifts all the time but after talks about being grateful and surprises they now really appreciate when the fairies have come. Recommend these for anyone who has kids
