Product reviews...
You know those moments when you discover or learn about a new product, especially one you think will keep your kids entertained for hours, and you can not wait to try it out. This is how I felt when we first heard about Aqua sand. I knew my little girl would love it..sand, water and magic all combined in to one, whats not to love right? It is such an ingenious idea. So of course I had to get it for my girl for her birthday last year.
You know those moments when you get a new product and then wonder why on earth you did not research it further first? This is how I felt about Aqua sand. Do not get me wrong, the stuff is magic. It is sand when it is dry, but add to water and you can build and create to your hearts content...but how does it do it? to this day we still do not really know. What I do know is..the mess created is not so much fun for the parents.
My daughter and her friends had a wonderful time creating and playing with her aqua sand, but when it came time to clean up...not so easy! What a mission and what a mess. Yes they supply you with what you need in the box to make clean up a breeze...what they do not tell you is that there is nothing breezy about it, and you end up with sand and mess everywhere...and I do mean everywhere!
Sadly after three play sessions, the sand had pretty much been lost along the way (during clean up), and the frustration felt each time it came to clean up became to much. By the fourth time she went to play with it, after ten minutes she had had enough and the kit got turffed in the bin. Its a great idea but there is huge room for improvement, and a definitely need for improvement, especially with the price you pay for it. If you don't mind spending ages trying to clean up and recover every little bit, then its a great product, but all in all it is not something we would ever look at buying again.
Well got this for my daughters 4th birthday thinking this would be awesome, sand goes in the water and comes out dry, how on earth really, I couldnt really believe it but anything I will give a go.
Well miss 4 loves it, mum dislikes it. It comes with everything you need, the container, a picture for the background, a tunnel, mermaid or dolphin (we have the dolphin one), scoop and the sand in the containers. Now I would of thought the containers were FULL of sand it turns out they are only about half full. A parent needs to fill the big container with water and the creations can start, this part I dont mind too much, tipping the sand into the water by holding the nozzles of the sand containers under the water and pointing them where you want the sand to fall.
The sand you can stack on each other and build up big long towers, you can knock them down pull the sand out and yup its dry when it comes out using the little net. This makes a big mess as the child pulls the sand out and tried to put it back in the sand containers I have had to give my daughter another container to put the sand it while playing and put a towel down under it all or its done outside. yes its good for the brain and the childs creative side.
Now what I really dislike is clean up time to empty the big container of the water you gotta get all the sand out, now using and little net takes WAY to long, it also blocks up with film and it wont drain the water. This product would of been better to come with a big mesh net to drain the whole thing and be able to tip the sand back into the sand containers. I have to use a flannel or dish cloth for this and sand still gets stuck on those and water still gets into the sand containers. I also dont like the feel my hands feel afterwards, its hard to describe how they feel but its worse than playing with the sand at the beach.
Yes this can be used over and over again and my daughter does love playing with it, its not the worst thing i have brought but with a few changes I think it could be so much better. I would recommend it if you don't mind doing all the hard work cleaning up at the end, because to be honest a young child cant really clean this up and that was my intention to start with something fun she can play with and clean up. I do have to be honest once this sand has gone we wont be buying more.
