Knit Two product reviews

The sequel to the number-one New York Times best-seller The Friday Night Knitting Club, KNIT TWO returns to Walker and Daughter, the Manhattan knitting store founded by Georgia Walker and her young daughter, Dakota. Dakota is now an eighteen-year-old freshman at NYU, running the little yarn shop part-time with help from the members of the Friday Night Knitting Club.

Drawn together by the sense of family the club has created, the knitters rely on one another as they struggle with new challenges: for Catherine, finding love after divorce; for Darwin, the hope for a family; for Lucie, being both a single mom and a caregiver for her elderly mother; and for seventy something Anita, a proposal of marriage from her sweetheart, Marty, that provokes the objections of her grown children.

As the club's projects (an Afghan, baby booties, a wedding coat) are pieced together, so is their understanding of the patterns underlying the stresses and joys of being mother, wife, daughter, and friend. Because it isn't the difficulty of the garment that makes you a great knitter: it's the care and attention you bring to the craft's as well as how you adapt to surprises.

It has been five years since Georgia died so how has the knitting club managed without her? Has the business managed to survive? See how James has gone from a no good dad with no contact at all to the full time father who suddenly has to learn to say no to his teenage daughter. Follow the members of the knitting club as they go through the summer and learn about love, parenthood and how things change due to necessity. Darwin wanted to be a mom and now she is struggling to cope with newborns, Lucie has a great career but at what cost?

I enjoyed reading the book, it is well written and you get to see all angles and points of view. The ending was totally unexpected but good to see that compromises were made. Iā ™m not sure there are any books to come but I hope there are as it is a good storyline.

I would recommend to others as it was easy to read and a lot of it is relevant to day to day life, we all have things we struggle with and things we are really good at.
