Using Zenian Organic Virgin Coconut Oil (slightly fermented - unrefined) ! very exciting
No doubt the best deodorant available I think. I tell my customers to test it on that top you love wearing but always makes you smell. I struggled for years finding a deodorant that would work all day and cut all under arm smell and this is the one! Smells absolutely delicious and its all natural!
Ingredients: Organic Virgin Coconut Oil, Arrowroot Powder, Baking Soda, Peppermint Essential Oil, Tea Tree Essential Oil.
To Use: apply a small amount to your finger and massage onto underarm. On contact with skin it will melt to a liquid and spread over smoothly.
Note: Because it is nearly entirely made of Coconut Oil, it will go soft in a warm room and hard in a cold room. Easily managed (I keep mine in my handbag - or bathroom in the hot summer), do not leave in the sun as it will melt and seperate. If this happens just mix it up and set it in the fridge. Please remember this if travelling to a hot country! Not the best deodorant to fly international
Do not use while pregnant because of Peppermint. If you would like a pot made up without essential oils contact me and ill whip you up one no trouble.
If for any reason you react to this product (like we can with all products) stop using it :)
Top Tip: Thank you to my friend Michelle for this tip: If you get bitten by those pesky mosquitos, put a bit of deodorant on it. It will soothe the itching and reduce inflammation!
Product reviews...
This is the second time I have used a natural 'hard' deodorant such as this, but the first one from the lovely Hayley Benseman range. When I opened up the tester package there was a magnificent scent of vanilla and peppermint - very refreshing and nice. Often with roll on deodorants the smells are very artificial and weak - or extremely floral and overpowering.
I was really impressed with the instructions that came with this including the warning not to use if pregnant due to peppermint content. I have two children and never knew to avoid peppermint items, so if I was pregnant and there was no warning I would have been none the wiser.
I started using the other natural 'hard' deodorant when I first heard about the chemicals that were linked to breast cancer. I did use this for about 6 months but the cost and convenience led me back to supermarket roll on. (not really an excuse but that's it!)
I have used all my sample now and have found it has worked 100%. It's a bit gritty and until you get used to rubbing the product under your arm to warm up and allow it to melt in, it's a tad difficult. During the day I found that I would catch whiffs of the lovely vanilla/peppermint smell when I lifted my arm - must have been doing a great job as that's all I could smell! I used this when I went for a run and it worked relatively well as well - it was no worse than normal!!
Overall cost is a major factor for me in a product like this, it would make a fabulous gift and its one that I would love to receive! If I was working full time and not studying (ie: limited income!) It more than likely is something I would order on a regular basis! So if you are looking for an alternative to traditional deodorants I fully recommend that you give this one a whirl - you won't be disappointed!
I love love love this product and now I have used up my tester I want to purchase more. I like the price too so it is not too expensive to buy as I imagine a 55ml tub would last quite a while as a little amount spreads out quite nicely.
I don't use spray on deodarants as they cause my irratation and it lives my underarm area itchy and stingy so I have always used roll on deodarant. This has been a bit hit and miss in the past with some of the roll on deodarants not at all being effective at keeping sweat under control all day. I have been using Rexona clinical protection since that became available and have had a good experience with that but I think this is even better.
I really like the smell with the mild scent of peppermint leaving you nicely scented but not an overpowering scent at all. I have found that using the deodarant for the last two days I can still smell the peppermint at the end of the day and when I take my tshirt off at night I can still smell the peppermint on my clothing. The other great thing is it doesn't leave any marks at all on clothing as once you massage it in to the skin it absorbs and leaves the underarm area dry but moisturised.
So easy to apply by just massaging a small amount on with your fingers until it is rubbed into the skin. As you rub it melts away into the skin leaving no residue. I tried it on a pesky mosquito bite and it did indeed provide some short relief from the itchiness.
Over the years I have heard about the harmful ingredients in many ingredients but I couldn't find an alternative that would keep me dry and fresh so I have continued putting poison on my armpits. When I was offered the chance to try Hayley Benseman's natural deodorant I was curious.
I have always used a roll on (and in my teenage years a spray) so this deodorant was different. It was a paste. When I put the thick paste on my finger I really wondered how this was going to work. As I rubbed it on my armpits it softened with my body heat. At first it felt like there were granuals but these dissolved and the cream rubbed in easily.
I didn't notice much scent when I applied it but during the day especially when I warmed up participating at Mainly Music I noticed the coconut scent. This was very pleasant and showed me that the deodorant was working its magic. One of my children even asked me what a nice smell was. At the end of the day my armpits were still dry and I smelt fine. Now that my sample is used up I will be buying some and I'm keen to see how it works in the middle of summer. I think I have finally found a naturally safe deodorant that works.
