Product reviews...
Other than my face I was never big on exfoilating until my daughter reacher her teen years and it was exfoilating scrubs for this and scrubs for that and on top of her list was the full body sugar scrubs. Seeing the soused soapery range of sugar scrubs become available for review I put in my request and crossed my fingers. You can imagine my excitement when I discovered the bittersweet sugar scrub among my parcel of review goodies. I was probably most keen on this variety as you can't go past a delicious chocolate scent.
Opening the container when it arrived I was surprised by the scent it sure did smell like chocolate, in fact it was like opening the oven when baking a batch of chocolate brownies, the smell that came from the container was so delicious it was tempting to taste it. Using it in the shower the whole room began to smell like chocolate brownie making it a rather enjoyable showering experience although I may of gotten a little hungry for something sweet.
During use you can feel the gritty sugar giving your skin a good scrub lifting away dry skin, so after drying my skin was left feeling soft and smooth and moisturised. It was a great sensation of having a really deep clean, great for these summer days where my skin can become a bit dry. With the combination of oils used including almond oil and shea butter the scrub adds moisture to the skin leaving it refreshed and more healthy which is a bonus beyond words.
I would definitely recommend using a sugar scrub like this amazing one from Soused Soapery once a week its a great treat for your skin and being able to use in the shower makes it an easy way to look after your skin. You do have to give the shower a good rinse out after use especially if your messy like me and get it on the walls but totally worth the experience. I may have hidden this one away as I knew my teen would be eyeing it up as she does with all the great skincare products I get sorry darling this is mums.
Before I review this product I do have to be honest - I am absolutely useless when it comes to taking care of my skin! I have amazing skin care sets, but often forget to use them. I don't use body scrubs, and my legs (particularly at times of the year like we are now!) often appear scaly and dry, but I never seem to find the motivation to look after my skin better. I really don't know why. When this sugar scrub came up for review I decided to send in a request in the hopes that I would get a tub to try to see if it would help my legs in particular and make me excited to use it even more.
Upon opening the tub I was met with the most amazing chocolate smell. The scent is definitely true to what it says it is. The scrub certainly appeared to be made of sugar as it was full of granules that looked much like sugar. I popped it in my overnight bag ready to take to my partners the next time I stay over as his shower is over a bath and I find it so much easier applying things to my legs when you have the edges of a bath and more space. My legs always seem more dry and scaly after shaving my legs so I decided to try this product on a day that I needed to shave. To give myself more of an idea of the results I decided to use it on just one leg so that I'd be able to compare both legs.
Scooping some of the product out of the jar it was quite different to what I expected. It certainly is just like picking up a pile of wet sugar. The top of the jar says that it is gentle exfoliation but to me it felt quite rough on my skin, but it felt good while I was doing it as I could imagine all of the yucky old skin getting washed away! I did manage to drop quite a bit of the product into the bath and perhaps next time I might scoop out smaller amounts to spread around as it doesn't spread as easily from one big scoop without dropping some of it. The smell was amazing - my partner commented that I will smell like chocolate all day! I rinsed it off and after drying myself was interested to see the results. My leg certainly felt a lot smoother than the other one despite still having some scaly patches. It has improved, and I think if I continue to use it the one to two times a week it suggests my legs will get even better. I did notice that when I dried my legs there wasn't a lot of skin that came off from the right one, but when I dried the left my towel managed to wipe off quite a bit so that tells me that the scrub managed to take a lot of it away.
I will continue to use this product, and am now interested to try some more of the soused products even just for the amazing smell they seem to have! I used a reasonably small amount compared to how big the jar is so I think this product will go a long way which makes it worth the price.
Taking off the lid I was automatically hit with the delicious aroma of chocolate - well more like a cross between a chocolate milkshake or maybe cocoa either way it was just so yummy. My daughter walked in the room and rushed over for a smell and then asked could she eat some - I laughed and said its body wash and she said yeah but can I eat it - it smells so good. She then asked if she could take a shower and I said 'nope its all mine'.
After a hard day at work I just wanted to blob in the bath so running it I thought why not I will try it out - taking a small amount I flicked it into the bath and it just sunk in clumps - so not quite what I was imaging - I also got quite a bit stuck under my nails but decided to let it stay there and would see what happened in the bath. Lying back the smell was not as strong as I was hoping for but I just relaxed anyway and drifted off to dozeland. As I have sever excema I was concerned that it would dry my skin out but it did not effect me at all it was lovely. The granules did not disappear completely so I picked what was left up and used on my feet.
I have since used it in the shower twice and it feels so nice against my legs while applying. The granules are not too harsh against my skin and instead I find it almost soft like which was really welcoming. I found a handful would do one leg just fine and a little less for my arms and tummy. Looking at how much I have used so far I am guessing I could stretch it out for summer. It says you should only use twice a week. I have found the smell does not last on my skin that long which is a pity as the smell really is so mouth watering.
The container is very cute and it is something I am very tempted to purchase again as my skin as not been effected at all. If anything I would say my legs are looking better as it is started to remove the winter dry skin. My arms still dry out once I get out of the shower but that has always happened so I can't say it has anything to do with this product. Be nice if they did a moisturizer in the same scent.
