Product reviews...
What can I say this has to be one of the best versions of Ghost I have seen to date. It takes the best of all the previous versions and adds in functionality like Hot Imaging and Backing up from Windows.
Add to this the large plethora of supported media, not to mention the ability to read PowerQuest DriveImage Pro files and you have your onestop drive imaging shop.
I had the pleasure, many years ago, of flatting with one of the authors of Ghost, when it was in it's early days. He helped write the DOS gui interface before it was sold to Symantec and became part of the Norton's range.
Back then, it was a powerful tool in it's own right, but once it join the Norton Clan, it grew rapidly. I watched the expansion in features and power with great interest. After all, as the saying goes, "The more it has going, the more can stop going."
This latest version was totally stunning, with so much more... and best of all, the Glitch Factor that seems to plague any PC I get my hands on was next to zero! That was quite possibly the most impressive thing for me... I can cause even the most stable PC to fall over with cramp when I get digging in to it... I simply could not phase Ghost in the least, and it is now one of the premiere apps in my toolkit... since I can Ghost a machine before I start to 'play' and if all else fails, take it back to step one so easily.
I was also greatly impressed with the Hot Imaging technology... and knowing a bit about file-locks etc, I admit to being stumped as to how it is possible. Gotta love that good ol' Norton magic.
Overall, brilliant! Network Engineers, SysAdmins, anyone who plays with the bits of Windows they know they shouldn't really be touching... you all NEED this one for sure! It will save you some much time, stress, and hair loss. My only gripe, minor though it is, is that with all the features I found myself a bit overwhelmed and lost in places. Thankfully, the 'basic' operations were so simple even I could use them without having to resort to that devil of a thing, The Manual.
