Product reviews...
I had just bought a new laptop when this became available for review so I was very keen to give it a try and get my new laptop protected. The laptop had come with a 30 day free trial of Norton so I had a little while before that had run out and I had to find something new, so this came in plenty of time.
Now I am a complete computer novice, if I can turn the computer on and go to facebook, my emails, or internet banking and other things along that line I am happy anything else and it is completely over my head. I thought this might be one of those things that would have me getting very frustrated but it was a quick and painless installation in the end. As I already had the trial I didn't even need to insert the disc I just put in my product key and it went about installing my new product.
This is what I thought would take ages, but it didn't all up it took about 5 minutes to get everything installed and ready to go. I was very impressed! Once the product was installed I also signed up for Norton Family to have a go at what this would be like for my daughter who is 11 and uses the internet quite regularly. Again it was quick and easy to sign up, however I went about it wrong at first loading it to the main windows account we use rather than one especially for my daughter.
This then meant that I was getting very frustrated as I was trying to go to various websites like facebook and KIWIreviews and finding that they were blocked due to family settings. When this happens the child can send a note to the parents explaining why they want to visit the website and then the parent can decide whether to grant access to that site which I thought was very cool, just not so much when I was having to grant myself permission. I have now set up a windows account for Casidy so the parent controls are just on her window.
I have run a couple of quick scans using the Norton Internet Security, and they have been pretty quick and painless too. I found that I could still use facebook with the quick scan running in the background which I liked. So far all that has been found is tracking cookies (whatever they are) which have all been found and removed so that makes me happy that we are virus free!! I like how it tells you what it has found and just removes them by itself so you don't even have to do anything.
The other thing I found is when going to my internet banking a Norton Security Safe thing comes up as it has detected I am on a banking website and wants to help protect my passwords. This is quite cool I haven't set up the identity safe yet but it is probably something I would set up in the future as it is always a worry doing internet banking online. So all in all I am very impressed with this product and am looking forward to finding more features!
