Frozen spring roll/wonton wrappers 20 sheets per packet.
Product reviews...
Oh I love these and didn't even know they existed until a few years ago when I was watching a cooking show and they said they are available in most supermarkets so on my next visit I found them in plain sight right next tot he pastry that I buy all the time...isn't it funny that until you are told about something you never see the product!!
Anyway I enjoy how these sheets are super easy to use and I have used them both in savoury spring rolls, making won tons and using making a sweet spring roll and dusting them in icing sugar so they are very versatile and can be enjoyed however you like them to be.
I like that I can also put whatever ingredients in that I like as I do enjoy ordering a spring roll when getting fish and chips but most places use pork meat and I am not a fan so when I discovered these and could make my own I enjoyed eating one made with beef mince and not pork...I have used chicken mince as well which adds yet another totally different taste experience. the wrapper crisps up and I love the crunch factor...if half the wrapper is down my first I know I have made a successful spring roll.
The wrappers are easy to use and stick to themselves with the tiniest amount of water and they stay stuck together so I don't have to worry about the filling falling out or the wrapper bursting while being cooked. With these wrappers being frozen they keep for a long time not that they usually do in my house as I use them all the time.
They are a reasonable price and a very easy to use product that can be used ion so many different ways, I for sure will continue to use them as they are one of my favourite items to use in the kitchen.
These are so great and so cheap too, just add the filling of your choice and either oven bake or shallow fry depending on how crispy you like your spring rolls. They only take a few short minutes either way.
I pre cook pork mince and vegetables and some soy sauce and leave to cool before making the spring rolls. If you try making them when the mixture is too hot the pastry splits so it is best to wait until they are cool. Also try to make the mixture so that it is not too saucy as if it is too wet the pastry also splits. If you like them extra saucy though you can easily just use two wrappers for extra strength.
The packet has nice instructions on how to roll a spring roll which I really liked as it helped me learn how to roll spring rolls that don't come undone. It also tells you how to put a damp tea-towel over the pastry to keep it from drying out while you are working as it does get dry and then cracks.
The packet is only $2.49 and contains 20 sheets so we can easily get two or three meals out of the one packet of wrappers. Also great for making mini spring rolls when you are entertaining as one sheet can make four mini spring rolls. I like to oven bake them and they come up nice and crisp anyway and are a lot healthier without the added oil.
