Product reviews...
Having tried another flavour in this range, I was keen to try this flavour. I personally love the taste of pumpkin, and will often opt for a vegetarian pasta meal if it includes pumpkin. I also love pumpkin in soups and sauces. So I knew this would be something I would enjoy. I took it to work with me today and ate it rolled into some bread wraps.
The foil packet was easy to rip open. I poured this onto a flat plate after the bowl I tried last time super heated the pasta. I then covered it and microwaved it for 2 minutes. I let it cool for a minute and then wrapped the pasta in bread for a quick and easy lunch meal. The flavour of the sauce was very much pumpkin, with some subtle hints of garlic. I felt that it was quite sweet, and had hoped for a bit more of a savoury flavour. But it was still really nice.
The pasta is stuffed with three cheeses. Despite my aversion to blue cheese, I enjoy the cheesy flavour of this pasta. The sauce was a bit on the thick side but it was a filling and nice tasting meal. I would probably buy this product again. Though there are a few other flavours to try before I settle on my favourite, this would be the best so far compared to the spicy tomato, bacon one I had last time.
So convenient and tasty too, this product is amazing for a quick and hassle free option for my lunch!! I work long hours and on days that I skip breakfast because I don't have enough time in the morning I will grab a packet of this and throw it in my lunchbox.
I don't know if it is the foil packaging that seems to keep this product tasting fresh and fabulous but the taste is great and gets a 10 outta 10 for me! The flavour of the creamy pumpkin sauce and the garlic within the tortellini pasta can be smelled as soon as the packet is open and man the smell only intensifies as it is cooked.
I love anything with garlic so when I chanced upon this in the supermarket (it was on special so was displayed at the end of the isle) I added a couple of packets to the trolley without hesitation and wasn't disappointed when it came time to eat it. I had a good feeling that it must be good because there weren't many packets left on the display shelf, so either shoppers were like me bought it because it was on special or they knew it tasted good and stocked up!
As a lunch option it is perfect because I only get 30 minutes for lunch and since it doesn't require long in the microwave to heat up it make for a quick hot meal that keeps me going and fills the gap from not eating breakfast and I am okay until dinner as one packet (potion) is pretty filling.
Sometimes the pumpkin sauce can be too thick so I water it down which makes more of the sauce which can only be a good thing, and is perfect to soak up with a bread bun or a couple slices of bread if turning this into a dinner or lunch for two people, or sometimes if I am organised enough I will halve the packet and it will feed me for lunch over 2 days which is great for the price too!
I always make sure I have a packet or two in the cupboard because I enjoy the taste and convenience of this product. I will continue to purchase and enjoy eating!
I totally love this Foil fresh Creamy pumpkin and roasted garlic tortellini! It combines three great food choices ~ pumpkin, garlic and pasta and turns it into a wonderful snack (or dinner) while taking away all the effort of cooking! Available at all supermarkets (from what ive seen anyway) so they are quick and easy to pick up at the last minute or to have in the pantry for back up.
I love the flavour of these and have used them for both a lunch time meal for myself and as a side serving alongside meat and veges at dinner time for two of us. At lunch i ate the whole pouch to myself (and was totally full afterwards) while at dinner time i halved the packet between my partner and i ... Portion wise it was probably a little too much for just me and not quite enough for the two of us (but was fine as i added other food to our plates).
At lunch i just heated the pasta as per the packet instructions ~ although i did heat a minute and then 30 seconds at a time to make sure i didnt over or under heat the meal. At dinner time however i tipped the contents from the packet and cooked it on a low heat on the element, i also added a little milk just to make the sauce (which is sooo yummy) go further.
Its pretty amazing that these are kept fresh in foil packaging and with such a long expiry (does kind of make me wonder how much preservatives are it it?) but aside from that seems a far healthier choice than a lot of other products out there!
Fully recommend to others
The only thing that I found that this was good for, price wise, was the speed of heating it up, and that it didn't need to be transferred into anything in order to heat it up.
I found that when it came to the taste, it wasn't strong enough, and that I needed to add salt to it to add more flavour to it. As for portions, it would only be enough for me, so if I was to feed the family I would need to buy a couple of extra packs, and for the price, it's just not worth it. And the sauce, I found that, as one does due to variations in microwave make and model etc, that when I went with the time given to me, the pasta in the middle wasn't heated up, but when I put it in for longer, the sauce got clumpy and not a nice texture at all.
This isn't something I would grab off the shelf, but, if it was on sale at a very cheap price, then I may buy one or two packets for a quick meal for the kids.
I saw these in the supermarket and decided to give them a try. Originally I had picked the pack up for me, but after a disastrous day and faced with two hungry children I whipped them out.
They were a great success, as soon as the packet was opened the aroma was mouth watering, after transferring them into a bowl, they heated quickly in the microwave, and the children were gulping them down, the teenager and the hubby came in smelled the smell and asked for theirs!
There was lots of real meal ingredients that could be seen, and it looked, smelled and tasted like something that someone had gone to a lot of effort to create.
I would definitely buy these again to have in the cupboard, they have a great shelf life, and they are a perfect healthy choice for an instant meal for any of the family!
I was quite surprised to see this on the shelf recently. After my experiences with the delightful Kaweka range I was keen to play the field a bit and see what else had sprung up in the new market.
A medium meal for a hungry single-server, it also goes well as a side dish for two. I served this as a side with some minute steaks seared quickly with some garlic and pepper, and wedges of tomato lightly drizzled with a tartare mayo.
It was a wonderful soft compliment to the bite of the steak, and the garlic crossover flavours allowed them to blend well. The generous sauce also went well with the cool tomato and sharpness of the tartare.
Overall, quite an affordable price. This is a great cupboard stocker, and I will be eyeing the others in the range on future shopping trips. The packets are sturdy and well constructed, giving you peace of mind as to it freshness and shelf-life. The one I bought had 9 months left on it's expiry date, so it's a great one to grab a spare each shopping trip and hold them over to help bulk up that summer BBQ table.
