Bepanthen ointment works in two ways to care for baby's skin and protect it from the causes of nappy rash:
Aids Natural Skin Recovery
Bepanthen ointment contains Pro Vitamin B5 which gently aids natural recovery of sensitive skin while keeping it soft, smooth and moisturised. Bepanthen also works by helping to seal in the skin's natural moisture, providing optimal conditions to allow gentle skin recovery without drying out your baby's delicate skin.
Protects
Clinically proven, Bepanthen works by forming a long lasting, transparent layer, protecting even the most delicate skin from irritants and rubbing. The water-in-oil formulation keeps the skin healthy and hydrated, which is essential to maintain its natural protective barrier.
How should I use it?
Apply a thin layer of Bepanthen to your baby's clean, dry bottom after every nappy change. Bepanthen offers additional comfort for your baby as it is non-sticky and is easy for mothers to clean.
Product reviews...
I have known about Bepanthen Cream since I was a child and helped my mum changed the diapers on my younger siblings. Since then I have used the product for my own children and can say it is still as good as my mum said it was on my bottom.
It leaves the baby bottom soft and creates a protective barrier against nappy rash. It also has helped reduce pre-existing nappy rash aka a sore, red bum, my child had. The soothing effects on the cream reduced his temper and allows him to sleep more soothly. The cream is white in consistency although becomes clear when rubbed into the skin. This is great as I can leave my child with only a nappy on and not worry about having my white patches of cream on his skin. The formula is comes out a little thick my is easily spreadable and once rubbed in for 10 seconds or so is no longer sticky.
My son has sensitive skin and this product works great. He has not had any negative effects from it, in fact, it leaves his bum nice and soft. Bepanthen Cream is a must have for all parents of young children.
I knew about Bepanthen before having children, but like many things - when you have kids, you re-discover items, and find new uses for them. I re-discovered Bepanthen ointment when I received some free samples in a Baby Pack. My children have never really had issues with nappy rash, though when teething they seem to have very sore and sensitive "tushies"! I tried a few creams, and then found my little trial tube of Bepanthen and gave it a go.
Whilst I found that it worked as a barrier cream, and is clear, rather than white like most other barrier creams - I also found it to be quite greasy - and that it really lingered, even after a few nappy changes and wiping of bottoms. I personally did not like that, and being a cloth nappy Mum, worried about what kind of coating it was putting on my nappies.
It is convenient as you can buy it at the supermarket. This also means it is pretty economical. It is handy to have more than one lot of nappy cream, and I admit that this is a good price to allow you to do that.
Personally, I do not use it anymore for bottoms - but do use it for itchy bites, dry itchy skin, and other such times when you need a barrier for skin. As with everything - give it a try - you may find you really like it!!
Bepanthen ointment is a life saver and no-one should ever be without any! Its one of those things that all house holds should have, a bit like the good ol Savlon that most first aid kits have. Probably my number one use for this would have to be nappy rash (I am an early childhood teacher) so with at least twenty odd children who are in nappies each day you do come across red n irritated bottoms for whatever reason. Bepanthen is great and definitely works fast - You can visibly see the difference this makes within an hour or two which I find pretty amazing.
Another thing I love about Bepanthen is the fact it is multi-use. I have used this product on myself - on cuts or scrapes, on children for itchy bites or random little rash outbreaks on their skin. I love the tube this product comes in, personally I hate having to dip my fingers into a container of creme or whatever so being able to squeeze the amount onto your fingers is perfect. This product is also perfect in formula I find as its not too greasy or oily but enough so that it doesnt dry the skin out. A hard balance to act that a lot of other products out there haven't mastered thats for sure.
Being able to buy this from the supermarket is very convenient which means anyone can easily access it and it isnt a hassle to buy more if you suddenly run out (which does happen from time to time!) I also think its great that they offer two sized tubes to fit different people's choices and budgets. Its a well priced product that can be used on the whole family - I definitely recommend this to others!
Bepanthen ointment is one of those oinments that I make sure we never run out of. I have the stuff everywhere; in my car, my bag and my first aid kit in the cupboard. This has to be one of the most versatile ointments around, and its tried and tested so you know it is definitely a great product that works very well.
I have used Bepanthen nappy rash cream for my childrens bottoms, cuts, scraps and what not when they were babies and still use it now and they are all growing up fast. Bepanthen is also our ointment of choice when it comes to aftercare for new tattoos. It is excellent to aid in skin recovery and for protection. It is also good for those unexplained rashes, the ones caused from to much playing on long grass, or perhaps a random allergic reaction. It soothes and heals and as I said before protects.
You do not need a massive amount, just a thin layer spread across the area is more than enough to do the job. Its non greasy too, which means you don't have a horrible feeling on the skin after applying. Best of all it works fast! Definitely worth every cent spent, and I still find myself amazed each time I go to buy a new tube, just how cheap it is for such a fantastic product and a decent sized tube too.
This creme is a lifesaver for anyone that has to deal with a child that has nappy rash and it seems to soothe and start working straight away and you can see the change in the child's behaviour straight away too. I don't have children of my own but I am an Early Childhood Teacher and we always have a tube or two of Bepanthen cream in our nappy changing area and apply it even at the slightest hint of a red or irritated bottom.
It is super easy to apply too plus the seal it offers when applied to the skin also allows the skin to breathe and doesn't dry the skin out further, the cream isn't overly greasy or oily and is easy to wipe/clean off from your hands if you aren't wearing gloves (as a teacher it's our policy to wear gloves) but when I have used it at home the cream has easily washed off.
Being able to buy this from the supermarket is very convenient which means I don't have to go out of my way to get my hands on it and I appreciate that it comes in different sized tubes because I don't need a large tube like I use at work so the smaller tube is perfect for someone that doesn't use it often. The flip lid is also a bonus because sometimes screwing and unscrewing lids, dropping the lid etc is a pain with the flip lid the hassle is gone!
The cream can be used on any skin, not just babies as I have used it on myself to ease sunburn, I have applied it to itchy bites that have been soothed straight away and any skin irritation caused by rubbing has been soothed when applied. I will always have a tube on hand as it is a cream that I just won't do without now.
I got a little tube of this when i was a new mum almost 5 years ago now. I used this cream a few times while my daughter was in a hip harness and it was used in the top leg joint. Raw and red, I popped some of this on, she didn't scream, she didn't cry and it seemed to start working over night. In the morning I applied it again until it was almost healed up.
For my son I had to use it on his nappy rash that was caused by the nappy, it seems to help him settle a lot more, making him feel better, the cream is nice and moist well that's how I can describe it, the cream still lets the rash etc breath while healing. You only need a small amount of it so a little tube can last ages.
I have also used this cream for my lips when I get wind burn or sun burn on them, it doesn't have a gross taste and if i do it at night before I go to sleep I don't tend to lick my lips, I wouldn't put it on my kids lips as kids like to lick things off their lips. For all creams I have tried this is far by the best I have used and I always have some in my house even though the kids are now 3 and almost 5. Highly recommend this cream.
I too got a sample of this in the new mum packs from the hospital and have found it great as a barrier cream when changing bubs nappies. You only need a small amount as it is quite greasy so creates a nice barrier on baby's bottom to protect them from nappy rash.
It also works quite well to heal up red irritated skin on baby's bum usually clearing up over night when I have had to use it for this purpose. I have even applied it myself when I have had chafing and it has worked on this also and feels quite relieving on hot irritated skin.
The price is good and even better that you can just buy it at the supermarket in quite a decent size tub. One tub lasts me quite a while as we use it sparingly and don't regularly get nappy rash.
Bepanthen Ointment is one of the many nappy rash creams that are provided free for you in the various "congratulations, you're a mum" packs you get before or after having a baby. It comes in a handy little tube, just the right size for your nappy bag, or to squeeze into the medicine cabinet (which is usually overflowing with stuff). I even have a tube of it in my glove box, for emergency nappy explosions. This came in very handy when we were at the snow last.
Baby had a number 3 explosion (as the ad goes) and there were no change facilities anywhere. It was quite a hike back to the car, and by the time we got there it was an even bigger mess and redness had set in. Enter wipes, a fresh nappy and Bepanthen. Once we got back to the motel we were staying at, a quiet bath in the sink and baby was looking much better down below. Safe to say that she didn't really need a second application even. But I still gave her one just in case.
I'm the sort of mum who doesn't believe in slathering on a lot of products for the sake of it. My babies only get a cream here and there and only when there is a need, so I don't go through this stuff very fast. As a result I haven't actually had to purchase it yet (so many tubes free over the course of two babies). But I would recommend it.
Last weekend after walking around the local gardens all day for two days straight, I got a bit red. Naughty mummy! Bepanthen again to the rescue. It reduced the redness and only two days later, I couldn't feel the burn at all. So it really is good for all sorts of skin issues.
I was first introduced to Bepanthen ointment by receiving free sample tubes while I was pregnant with my first child. I was also given a few other nappy rash samples but Bepanthen quickly became my cream of choice.
My babies never developed any major nappy rash and I put this down to treating them with Bepanthen when any redness appeared. It seemed to prevent the rash from getting worse. It wasn't thick and messy like many other creams I tried which left a huge mess on my fingers and a thick film on the baby. This is particularly important for me as my babies were predominantly in cloth nappies and a build up of creams can cause them to leak.
I also like that I could always buy it at the supermarket so I didn't have to go out of my way (or pay postage for a mail order) to get it like some of the creams other parents recommended. The tube with it's flip top was very easy to get into with one hand. It was also a good size to keep in the pocket of my nappy bag. It was also affordable enough to have a couple of tubes at home as well.
Now that my girls are toilet trained I don't need it for nappy rash any more. I still use it for any little bites or scratches that we get. This is one of the best products I used with my babies and have but tubes in nappy cakes and gift hampers I've made up for newborns as I recommend it to others. I also have a friend that asks people going to Australia to bring her back some as she claims it is much cheaper over there.
