Slightly more intense... this sauce will take you to the next level.
Product reviews...
I have just discovered a wonderful new marinade, and this is it. If I want to add just a touch of flavour, but not make it too hot and spicy then this is what I reach for.
I just take the bottle pour a small amount onto the surface of the meat i'm wanting to marinade and then gently brush the sauce into the meat, then leave it for an hour or so, and then I gently cook the meat so that it stays nice and tender.
The end result is a beautifully cooked meat with a wonderful hint of mango. What more can I say? Delicious....
I found this one to be almost on par with the regular Pickapeppa sauce, except this one has a slightly spicier taste, but that's not all bad. In fact I would have to say I would be hard pressed to choose my favourite between them.
I did feel that this one has a slightly more fruity taste than the original sauce, but then that could just be me.
I think the only way to decide which of the two sauces I want to use will be on how spicy I feel.
I found this to be a great tasting sauce with a good flavour and the perfect amount of spice.
I have 3 children who absolutely loved this sauce and couldn't get enough of it, I am definitely going to have to go shopping for more of it. They used it on their Fish n Chips, as a dip for Chippies, on their steak and sausages, everything we could think of.
This sauce had a wide variety of uses from steak to using it as a dipping sauce.
I would happily pay the recommended retail price for this product.
Not one for fruit sauces much, I was very pleasantly surprised when this turned out to be my favourite sauce from the entire Pickapeppa range.
Sweet, but with a nice moderate 'bite' of spicy heat, this sauce was amazingly versatile. It went well as the base of a Salada cracker with cheese and tomato, it was amazing when mixed with some cream cheese as a dip, when mixed with some finely shredded tuna and a dash of mayo it became a stunning sandwich spread, and even just on it's own on toast.
The bottle is a good portion, giving you plenty to work with, though I think the price may put some people off trying it, despite the fact that it has to be imported from Jamaica. Unlike the sauce itself, the label is rather bland, allowing it to blend into the other products it would sit next to on the shelves... a bit of an 'Extreme Makeover, Label Edition' is required IMHO if it is going to stick out and 'pop' a bit more.
Overall, a stunning new addition to my pantry... *if* I can find a nearby retail supplier, because buying it in bulk would be just too expensive. Here's hoping we either see it hit the mainstream supermarkets, or an online list of retail outlets stocking it, soon.
First of all, I loooove spicy stuff - Curries, Chillies etc and so I was looking forward to getting this sauce. I had expectations.
Looking at the packaging, if I saw this on the shelf in the supermarket I would probably look at it but not buy it, there is something about the label on the bottle that says 'cheap' to me.
But, and this is a big BUT, as the saying goes, don't judge a product buy it's wrapping.
This sauce is wonderful!!
One of 5 products in this range, the spicy mango is the middle in the mango flavo rs.
This sauce has a nice clean, fruity flavor with a nice little kick to the after taste that lets you know the spice is there without burning the mouth.
I opened this sauce as soon as i unwrapped it and tasted it and tried it with meat and it works well.
I also mixed some with some cream cheese to make a dip ('sweet chilly philly' style) and I had trouble using chips to dip in it, I could have eaten it with a spoon :)
This sauce is mild and makes a nice change so if your not sure if you can do hot sauce this one is for you. If your more into the kick that 'Kaitia fire' etc gives you then this sauce will be a bit mild but still brilliant for your condiment shelf.
