Product reviews...
My son is an absolute Transformers fanatic, so when he saw this wee beauty all other things were forgotten. As with the other reviewer I too noticed how easy it was to unpack, as many other toys are completely diabolical when it comes to packaging. I also have to agree that the assembly is most definitely an adult task - although my son did try to put it together himself, in the end it was a daddy job.
Much like the Optimus Prime helmet from the first film, this one's sound effects are spot on and of course it includes some of the best Bumblebee lines from the movie.
The voice mixer is quite different from the Optimus Prime model in that it not only changes your voice to sound like a robot, but with this one it also mixes it with some cool sounding music tracks.
This is a great toy for the kids (especially if you let them run around outside with it whilst you stay inside), and should keep them occupied for many hours.
After seeing the Optimus Prime version released for the first movie, I was quite keen to see what my son would make of this one, since Bumblebee is his favourite character. He was overjoyed!
The joy wore off a little when he found himself struggling with the packaging, but he managed to get the helmet fully unpacked unaided, which in itself is a glowing commendation for the improvements in packaginf techniques Hasbro are making. Some of their stuff used to be a nightmare to unpack, but this is no longer the case with most products. However, assembly of the helmet *is* an adult job, as we found clipping the two side panels of the helmet's rear half quite tough, even for me!
Batteries are included, so your little one will be ready to transform from the moment you unpack it. The sound effects are great, the movie lines are authentic, and the voice modifier is really dinky, though personally I sound pretty horrendous through it. The straps inside can be adjusted to fit heads across a wide range of sizes, but I found the side-straps that adjusted the height of the helmet's harness a little tough to unlock and reposition.
Overall, this is a brilliant toy, great for boys of all ages. You *MUST* keep in mind though that letting the kids ride their bikes around wearing this WILL BE dangerous, and will *probably* result in injury. The helmet is NOT designed to offer any form of protection against head injuries. My only gripe is the lack of a volume control or remote-controlled mute button... there's only so much "Bumblebee to the rescue!" one can stand in a single afternoon.
