Product reviews...
There are naff toys, there are cool toys, then there are SERIOUSLY cool toys... this one fits so well into the third category, you'd think it was invented just for the Transformers...
Requiring quite a bit of careful handling to get it to go through it's transformation, once you get this toy into either Robot or Car mode, the fun really begins. When in car mode, with sensors and active feedback, this toy knows what you are up to, and reacts accordingly. Push the car forwards, the engine revs up, brakes squeal when you stop (if you were going fast enough), slap it into reverse (Well, push it backwards anway) and the engine revs differently... lights work, the radio blares out songs at random... it's very cool indeed.
Spend a few minutes trying to gently, but firmly, get bits to line up right as you transform him into robot mode, and by the end of it you'll either be cursing, or playing with a robot that reacts to motion and sound, as well as the press of a couple of buttons. He even raises his arm and shoots the missile at you! Cheeky begger. However, despite scaring the bejabbers out of my poor cat, I couldn't get him to clearly react to my movements or voice, I *think* he may have moved his head to track me, but I can't be certain, so not 100% sure on that score.
Overall, even though this is by far the niftiest toy I have come across in many years, ever since my first Transformer, which I still have over 20 years later, this toy is NOT for the very young... in fact, even though the product says "Ages 5+" I would say a minimum age of 10 would ensure a far more fun playtime with a minimum of stress. However, with parental help, yes, OK, 5+... but be careful with kids who get frustrated easily.
