I think we all remember playing with magnetic plastic fishing rods when we were little and trying to pick up the plastic fish. Well fun factory takes this idea and makes a great quality wooden toy to do just this but without the tacky poor quality plastic structure that meant the pieces didn't last long.

This set is just too cute with the little wooden fishing rods and little wooden fish that connect to the rods using magnetic catches. It is a great game for children to develop their hand eye coordination and to learn about the science of magnets but they learn all this while just having fun.

As it is wooden the set is fantastic quality so will last the distance and provide hours of fun for your children, although it says age 3 and up you can still use it with younger children as long as you keep an eye on that they don't put the small pieces in their mouth as other than that it is completely safe and easy to use even for little hands.

As an early childhood teacher we have many funs toys for children and the fishing game is one of them. I work with toddlers and infants and we have this for the older toddlers to work on their hand eye co-orderation. the children love that there is a boat with the fish that sit inside, we put the fish around the outside of the boat and they pop the fishing wo/men into the holes and spin them around to pick up the fish on the outside of the boat to put them in the boat.

Of course young children being young children have other ideas of the game and the fish get picked up and just put on the end of the rod. This too is great as they are developing skills for later on. The older children get the hang of the game better.

The pieces are a nice size but need to watch under 3's with it as they do pop things in their mouths, you need to watch for the magnets just in case they come off, which hasnt happened to us as of yet. Older children than the toddlers and infants I look after have races to see who can collect the most fish, so this nicely made wooden game does a lot for a child to learn and is one awesome toy.
