Product reviews...
I have been purchasing Uncle Ben's Express Basmati Rice for quite some time now, as someone who suffers from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome cooking tea can be very hard work with limited energy so foods that don't take long to cook and prepare and still taste good are a godsend! And that is what I love about this product, it still tastes as good as rice that you would normally cook in a pot and wait fifteen minutes or so for it to be ready. When you think microwave the rice you do tend to first think how is this going to come out and is it going to be a rubbery version of what is meant to be rice. I can confidently tell you that it always comes out perfect and I have never had any issues with the texture or taste.
The process is so simple and easy. Open the package and pop it in the microwave on high for two minutes and its cooked and ready to eat just like that! Once cooked the rice is good to go and can be added to whatever meal you like or simply eaten by itself. I personally use it to go with Buttered Chicken or Chicken Satay or to accompany a beef stirfry. I love the fact that I don't have to wait for the pot to boil to cook this rice and stand there stirring it and waiting a good fifteen minutes for it to be ready. And the added bonus - it requires no dishes to be washed from cooking this product!
I find it is great value for money and is affordable to purchase and often find the supermarkets have it on special most weeks. I always purchase a couple of packages each week its a great product to have stocked in the pantry for when you want a meal in a hurry or to add to curry or stir fry with minimal cooking required. It certainly is a time saver and beneficial in many ways I have nothing but positive things to say about this product!
What a great product, quick, no fuss, hassle free dinner or lunch option, I love eating Uncle Ben's Express Rice : Basmati Rice. Match it up with a piece of chicken or piece of fish and I am a happy girl. I can happily eat Uncle Ben's Express Rice : Basmati Rice hot or cold the next day for a left over lunch option. Even though with only taking 2 minutes in the microwave I can have it hot anytime of the day!!
I like the fact that the rice cooks evenly and isn't clumpy or sticky, it is free flowing and has a great texture when cooked, and can b cooked right in the bag saving on time and dishes!! Gotta love that Uncle Ben's Express Rice : Basmati Rice has a neutal taste so is perfect to add whatever flavour your heart desires, spice it up with sauces or curries, add fresh herbs, or just left as is and add vegetables and a protein to make a perfect meal option.
I would totally recommend Uncle Ben's Express Rice : Basmati Rice to all shoppers and consumers out there that love the convience of a quick meal that is yummo to boot. Perfect to keep on hand in the cupboard for either a lunch on the go or a quick easy no fuss dinner idea. A bit pricey but worth it for the no hassle and very quick preparation. I always have packets of Uncle Ben's Express Rice : Basmati Rice in my pantry and will continue to use them for as long as I am lazy enough to press the 2 minute button on my mircowave!!
This was the first of these microwave rice sides i had tried and i was dubious the first time. I thought it maybe dry and hard, or way too soft and soggy. I like my rice cooked perfect! I was pleasantly surprised.
My Nan had brought these along to a pot luck dinner to accompany her beef stroganof (not what i would team Basmati with, but any how!) They were so easy to prepare with no mess - no sticky pots or bulky rice cookers to clean and put away. So the ease of use with these gets 10/10 for me.
This is an expensive luxury item in my opinion. Great for lunches and cheaper than take out - but still, the traditional way is so much cheaper, i could buy 1kg of rice for the same price as this small packet. But if this is in your price range and fits your lifestyle then i believe its a great product. Although its not one i use very often at all.
I love basmati rice. It is aromatic and delicious. I love that it is so versatile, and I can have it as a stirfry, or as a curry accompaniment. Enter uncle Ben's Express Basmati rice!
I get these every week, along with a tray of stirfry beef and a wok sauce packet. Its such a quick and easy meal to throw together and my family love it. I just nuke the rice for 2 mins, brown the meat, add frozen veges and the sauce, mix the rice in and it's done.
My daughter is a huge fan of rice, and my husband likes that we have a quick throw together meal when he is in a hurry to get out the door to something. Recently our microwave broke, and I was pleasantly surprised to find instructions for stove cooking on the packet. The instructions were easy to follow and though it takes a little longer and creates another pot, its still convenient.
We love Uncle Ben's rice and I'll continue to buy these every week. Just love our rice!
Yet another brilliant all-rounder from Uncle Ben's, this time it's Basmati Rice. My personal preference for the use of this product is as a compliment to a nice and spicey curry.
I'm not sure why the basmati rice goes so well with curries for me, but I suspect it's the subtle flavouring that this rice has which to me just perfectly compliments the curry to make a wonderful taste sensation.
Basmati is traditionally served with curry, but it's too hot for that at the moment, so we served this with a honey soy chicken stirfry...
Again, easy to cook, no stodgyness or any of the other horrors that can befall badly done rice and with lots of veges in the stirfry, there was enough rice to take some leftovers to work too.
I was interested to see how the rice stood up to the test of having the juices of the stirfry soaking over night and being reheated...
And I was impressed
There was no lose of structural integrity, the rice was still tasty and good!
Well done Uncle Ben's!
I guess we have all been in that situation where we need extra rice in a hurry - either because we've forgotten to cook any; or maybe because we've had an extra guest and not enough rice or simply because we want something ready in well under 5 minutes.
Uncle Ben's Express Rice comes to hand supplying a heat and eat king of the rice: Basmati.
Rip the top and nuke for 2 minutes and serve - how simple is that? Handy for that left over curry when you shoot home for lunch and need the extra top-up.
I feel that the Express Rice range of products is a very useful store cupboard for those express moments!
