Product reviews...
I was quite disappointed with my steak pie. I heated it in the oven for longer than the stated time at the recommended temp. The reheating may have shrunk the pastry somehow and the gravy leaked out.
The gravy was thick and tasty and held the meat and vegies well but I had issue with what I thought was only a slight amount of meat. No signs of steak chunks in any of it.
The price is good and means I am keen to pay for another of these pies to see if I just got the runt of the litter.
A good, filled pie. Chunks of beef and just the right ratio of gravy. A smattering of veges, and all wrapped in a delicious, firm pastry.
This pie was yet another success from Maketu.
However, on this occasion I varied the cooking instructions a little, based on experience...
I cooked it at 110 degrees Celcius for 1 hour. Perfect! Cooked all the way through, and not dry at the edges... a dash of corn relish would go nicely with this pie, as too would a scoop of cheesy mash and a side of garlic carrots.
Random listing from 'Food'...
An addictive dressing for just about anything... flavour and colour intensified by the use of Saffron. Drizzle over salads and fish.
