Product reviews...
Yes it is true, I am a sucker for any machine that promises to give me the perfectly sculpted, amazingly tanned, wrinkle free, perfectly balanced body. You know, those tanned sculpted bodies you see on infomercials everywhere. So yes I was a sucker and bought a lateral thigh trainer (second hand). The concept is simple enough. Stand on it and walk on the spot. That is literally it.
The recommended retail price when this first came out was around $150 and then if you wanted the additional arm band things that went with it, you needed to buy them separately, upping the already crazy price. The machine lasted in my house a week before I gave it away. Even second hand it was an utter waste of money. Honestly why spend so much money on an item that is boring and just sits there, when you can get the same (if not better) results from good ole power walking or stair climbing.
Granted I only used it for a week, and so naturally I was not going to see any results in that time. I just personally think they are a waste of time and money. We live in a beautiful country with gorgeous parks and walkways that are more beneficial giving much better results than I can imagine this would.
I have never really been a great exerciser so I wwasnt too sure what was going to become of this thing. Looked simple enough, stand on it and make like I was walking. The little digital counter in the right pedal looked like it was going to take care of the counting for me, so it was worth a try. After half an hour my thighs were burning and my heart was going 20 to the dozen so it was time for a break. This became a daily routine for me for the last 4 weeks and the improvement is noticable. For the first time in nearly 2 years I can ride my bike for more than 20 minutes without getting sore legs and I can walk the 7km into town without having to make stops to rest my thighs. By including regular use of the power cord attachments I have also been able to improve my upper-body strength as well. At last I can actually do pressups! The unit is a little expensive at first glance but if you are serious about your fitness it is still cheaper than a 6-month stint at your local gym and doesnt expire so you could easily look at it as paying for itself within the year no matter how you cut it.
