As with most of the ADMAN range of products, I had seen this advertised before and have been very interested in trying it out. I like anything that can make a task easier (some may call that lazy but I call it Time Efficient Wink Icon) so when I saw this I thought well it could speed things up.

To start with you have the main board with a 'V' shaped blade which does the slicing part, it also comes with two inserts which can provide 4 different slicing styles between them. You have the thick slice, the thin slice, the thick stick and the thin stick (Julienne).

The thick slice and thin slice does as it says and is great for sliced apple, tomato, cucumber etc... the thick and thin sticks are great for celery, carrots and potato. I found the best use was the thin stick combination for onions when you need some finely chopped onion to fry into a main meal as the finer the onion the quicker it will brown and the quicker you can carry on with the rest of the cooking.

I love this and will be using it more and more often.

Having used a similar product years ago, I was very interested to see if this product was better or the same. At first glance there wasn't as many pieces as the old one, so was very keen to put this new product to the test. Just by first looks, everything seemed to be user friendly.

Out come the vegetables to put it to the test, took a little bit of getting used to, the hang of the movement and the angle of it, but after a few attempts it became easier to use. When we got down to the last part of the vegetable we found that you couldn't quite get the final couple of slices and ended up wasting the last little bit of the vegetables. Other than that I found this to be quick and easy to use to prepare all my vegetables for dinner, as it was a breeze to use and a great way to cut down on preparation time.

We found the attachments quite handy as you can either have slices or chips. One side of one of the attachments you can have thick chips and if flipped over you can have thin slices, and with the other you can have thin chips or thick slices. The attachments can easily slip in and out for quickly swapping blades over and also for storage.

This is a very good gadget to have in the kitchen as it is easy to store and quick and easy to use and clean up. I have found this to be better than standing in the kitchen cutting potatoes when you have kids at your feet trying to help, and will save spending too much time in the reparation of our meals.

Having seen, and used, a number of variants of this device over the years, it's great to see a version that retains all of the effectiveness, but dumps a lot of the bloated pricetag. You get the basic kit for this price: the slicer base with it's V-blade, the thick-cut blade insert, the fine Julienne blade insert, and the holder unit. No fancy carry case, wall bracket, or pointless add-ons you'll hardly use. I admit a slight redesign of the base, to allow you to click the second insert in, to keep them together in the cupboard or drawer, would have been a smart idea... but if you want the price kept to something realistic, you can't have all the bells and whistles.

Having seen some of the more expensive versions demonstrated at homeshows, and seen how hard it can be to make it look effortless, I was a little worried that I would have some real troubles using this unit. I need not have feared... it took a few butchered carrots for me to get the hang of things, but after a single afternoon of practice I found myself slicing onion, cutting potato into fries, converting carrot and veges into Julienne slivers for stir-frying, and generally converting innocent veges I could lay my hands on into piles of consumables.

A little trick I worked out was that if I use the Julienne insert when slicing onion, I get it reasonably fine, suitable for fast frying. The thickness of your slice depends a lot on the amount of downward pressure you apply, so pushing hard gives you a thicker slice than a gentle push. These tricks, either alone or combined, can make all the difference between using this unit to it's best, or getting frustrated and hurling it out the window.

Overall, this little gadget will probably save me quite a lot of prep time, a few fingertips, and a lot of hassle when it comes to preparing dinners for the family. I haven't rewally had enough practice to become really proficient, but I have already found that I love using it. The best advice I can offer is this: "It's all in the wrist." If you find that the veges are getting stuck in the V-blade, it's because you aren't giving it enough effort... use your wrist to 'flick' the veges as they hit the V-blade, to give it enough momentum to slice cleanly.

The Super Slicer is one of those handy kitchen gadgets that makes food preparation quicker and easier - and the mess a doddle to clean up too.

The clean up is the most important (to me, at least) because if it isn't quick to clean, it is hardly worth using. And true to its word, the Super Slicer is a breeze to clean. It disassemble quickly, a quick rinse and put it aside to drip dry. What could be more simple.

The next most important thing to me is how it operated. Unlike many guys, I can't be bothered with setting things up - especially when I am cooking for the significant others in my life. Time spent slicing is more time cooking before you can eat, and at the end of the day, simplicity is the key.

So, the Super Slicer performed exactly as it was supposed to. The slicing was a breeze - something I can delegate to one of my less-able assistants so I can get on with the rest of the food preparation. I can see this being in my regular food preparation.
