Product reviews...
I was lucky enough to win this in the 12 Days of Christmas promotion run by KIWIreviews, I wasn't sure how useful it was going to be. I read the instructions and thought it sounded easy enough. The scoop is nice and big so it should hold quite a lot of either food or scraps.
I have used it for both food and when cutting fruit for school lunches for the scraps. I was impressed with how easy it is to use and how many trips across the kitchen I didn't have to do as the scoop holds so much but I did notice that the non slip mat isn't quite long enough and I had to adjust once or twice as either the scoop would move around or the cutting board (I don't have the Cibocal board) would move around the bench but with a bit of trial and error both stand still, not ideal to be holding boards to keep them still. I also had to try the putting the scoop over the sink as I was a bit low on space and was amazed that it worked that well. Cleaning up was a breeze and the scoop fits neatly into my drawer.
I would recommend this to friends as some of my friends are very limited by small kitchens but at this price I can guarantee that it is going to count against this product .
Every kitchen in the world needs one of these. They make cooking a breeze as you don't need to use extra plates for your cuttings or a bowl for your scrapes. It slides easily under your chopping board and as you are cutting, slicing or dicing you just push on to the tray then tip it into your pans or pots or wherever it needs to go. Alternatively it is great for the scraps and you can keep the good stuff on your chopping board. Such a genius contrapation. Also its sturdy enough that you can carry it around and nothing falls off as it has quite high sides.
I use mine all the time and so thankful that I won this through KIWIreviews as I think the price is a little steep. Mind you it cuts your dishes down considerably so maybe when you weigh the pros with the cons it is worth it. I love that once I have used it I can throw it in the dishwasher (unlike my chopping board). So cleaning up is so fast and easy. Anything that is dishwasher safe is a bonus in my eyes!
Using it practically every day I am surprised it has kept its shape and colour and still looks brand new. I love my Food Scoop and swear by them. Cooking has not been the same.
This really is quite a simple, useful tool. So much so that I'm surprised it isn't a staple in the kitchen alongside the pots, pans, and toaster. The main advantage that I find with it, is that I frequently run out of space on the chopping board, and the cibocal provides a stable, clean, and safe place to store my chopped up bits and pieces.
It instantly quadrupled the amount of space that I had available to store chopped items, which means I was actually spending less time in the kitchen chopping, as I can just give it a swift push to the side and my working area is clear again!
I like width of the scoop as it allows it to be used with a wide variety of chopping boards, and despite the simple method to use the scoop, it comes with directions to dispel any doubt. While it is another product that would need to be washed afterwards, it is very easy to clean, as things do not stick to it.
But my main comment with this product is how much it sped up my cooking time, and reduced the mess (no more carrying around a dripping chopping board around the kitchen). As someone who shares a kitchen with multiple people, getting in and out with minimal mess is very important.
I have a Cibocal chopping board so was keen to give the Cibocal food scoop a go and see if it would help me to be any tidier in my food preparation. It's mid summer so dinner has pretty much been salad every night with lots of peeling and grating vegetables. Usually I just have to constantly pick my peelings etc up off the chopping board as it gets full or push them to one side but with the food scoop I could easily just keep scraping my scraps off the board onto the scoop.
I like that the scoop is really big and could fit lots of scraps so I didn't have to keep emptying it. The sides are high enough that my scraps didn't keep falling over the side. My chopping space was definitely a lot tidier than normal which is definitely a good thing.
I think the only aspect of the scoop that I thought would make it easier would be some sort of angle on it to make it easier to funnell the scraps into my scraps bin. Because it is so wide although it catches all the scraps from the board perfecty it doesn't then make it easy to get into the bin. Obviously that meant a bit of a mess!
I loved how easy it was to clean and dry the scoop and that the scoop stores with the chopping board so space wise doesn't take up much room on my bench. Definitely a fantastic accompaniment to the Cibocal chopping board. In fact if you are after a good gift and know someone who has the board this food scoop could be something to consider.
I read what this neat kitchen tool could do and wanted to give it a go, it seemed to make life easier in the kitchen. When I got it I was stunned on how big it actually is and excited at the same time, how much can fit on this scoop I wanted to try it right away. I have a marble chopping board and reading the very easy instruction booklet I could put it on a corner with the chopping board holding it in place to put the food onto. I choose to use this for scraps as I needed to grate the apples I was chopping up so the scraps would be in the way.
It was very light and easy to put under the chopping board into the corner, and then it was easy to push the scraps onto it as I finished chopping each part. It was light enough still to pick up with the rubbish sitting on it and easy to transport to the bin, much better than a bowl I would normally use as that would sit in the sink and fill with water. The scoop doesn't take up a lot of room well no more than you would use anyway with the chopping board as it can hang over the bench the sink or just flat on the bench. I found it washed up nice and easy and didn't really need a huge scrub, and it sat on top of my kitchen taps where my chopping board goes to drip dry. It has also been used to transport a cold ham to another house nice and easy and without a huge bowl or container ready to break in case it fell.
I have also used it for the food that I need to cook as-well, as I'm chopping up zucchini, mushrooms etc ready to fry or put into a dish, peeling and getting rid of all the rubbish was easy a quick rinse and then chopping everything up and pushing it into the scoop made life easier, and everything in one place so I could clean up the chopping board, bench and put a tea towel over the scoop waiting for the foods cooking time. Best product I have found for my food prep so far, makes cleaning up easy as I don't need 3 different bowls just the one easy scoop.
I'm very pleased I have got to review one as I don't think I could afford one, but for a family member or friend that could really benefit from it I wouldn't mind paying the money to be honest for something that makes things a little easier and cleaner.
