When I travel, a portable mouse is essential, but I've always been hesitant about portable keyboards. Most options are either too bulky or come with significant compromises to achieve lightness. However, Logitech's Keys-To-Go 2 has changed my perspective. This sleek typing accessory easily fits into any bag and pairs with almost any device.

Despite its ultra-thin profile, the Keys-To-Go 2 offers a surprisingly good typing experience. Logitech managed to find room for detectable key travel. No idea how, but this along with rubber domes under the keys results in a finger-feel that is quite unreal in a keyboard this slim. While the actuation is softer and spongier, it's a reasonable trade-off for a keyboard you can slide into your back pocket along with your phone, and forget it's even there. (Which is why in your bag is better.)

One of the standout features of the Keys-To-Go 2 is its full row of productivity shortcuts, including controls for volume, brightness, play/pause, and even Logitech's signature emoji key. These shortcuts are particularly handy when using the keyboard with a phone or tablet. Additionally, the three Easy-Switch keys feature, which that is a highlight of the new Logitech offerings, make it easy to toggle the keyboard's Bluetooth connection between up to three devices. This makes it simple to pair with Logitech's latest mice for a seamless mobile office setup.

The Keys-To-Go 2 is compatible with a wide range of operating systems, including Windows, Android, macOS, iOS, iPadOS, and ChromeOS. It comes in two layouts: a universal arrangement for all OSes (which I tested) and one tailored for Apple devices. The built-in cover protects the keycaps during transport and can flip around to provide a slight typing angle for better ergonomics. It is also worth noting that I found the keyboard to be quite durable - it flexed a lot less than I expected such a slim keyboard to. What made the extra rigidity so surprising was the lack of weight that a metal frame would have imparted - to get this level of structural support purely from the components and moulding is impressive.

The battery life is given as 36 months, however that is based on 2 hours or less of usage per day and assumes you remember to turn it off as soon as you are done. It sounds a bit silly, but it's worth remembering that it equates to about a month per year of 24/7 usage. Sounds about right for a 'travel accessory' really. A notable drawback is the reliance on two disposable CR2032 coin-cell batteries instead of a rechargeable option. Accessing these batteries requires removing two Torx screws, which can be inconvenient if the keyboard dies while you're on the go. Ideally, the Keys-To-Go 2 would support USB-C charging, but due to its slim design space is limited, and adding more components would require more space and might have increased the cost beyond the 'acceptable price range' for its target market.

Overall, though it won't replace your primary keyboard and the typing comfort isn't on par with a traditional desktop keyboard, the Keys-To-Go 2 excels as a lightweight travel companion. It's incredibly thin and lightweight, with a built-in cover for protection. Its compatibility with multiple devices and operating systems makes it versatile, and despite the coin cell batteries, the long battery life means replacements are infrequent. Changing the batteries isn't difficult as long as you have a #5 Torx screw head. With two layout options, multi-device connectivity, and a reasonable price, the Keys-To-Go 2 hits the sweet spot for frequent travellers needing a portable keyboard solution.
