Product reviews...
What a beast of a storage chip! This unit really impressed me with it's speed and durability. The first day this arrived, I slipped it into the coin pocket of my jeans to free up and opposable thumb for some fiddly battery-swapping in the camera... and promptly forgot about it! That night, after my jeans had been through the wash, I remembered... "Oh SHAZBOT!" spake I, in a rough and course tongue...and fished the sodden chip out of the lint-stacked pocket, partialled mummified by the lint and fluff. A wiped, a clean, and few hours sitting in a warm spot above the heater to dry out... and it powered on right away, not a blink!
Time for the speed test. find a 123meg movie file to use, and try it under USB 1.1 mode... nothing at all impressive, around .746 meg per second WRITE speed, and .936 meg/sec READ time... nothing to write home about. However, when we performed the same test under USB 2 settings, we had a much more impressive 6.588 meg/sec READ rate, but a Middle of the road 1.499 meg/sec WRITE rate.
However, when this card is insterted into my digital camera, the speeds rocket to within a few hundred k/sec of the advertised specs. This increased the rate at which my camera could take photos by a factor of around 3... it stored them to the card so fast it was almost instant, since most of my images are around the 1meg range.
Overall, if you want enhanced performance, superior durability, and wrapped in a secure SD-sized bundle, then you would be unwise to overlook the Kingston Ultimate range of storage cards.
