Franz Ferdinand - Live product reviews

Need a little more Franz in your life? The Scottish rockers release their first-ever two-disc DVD which not only includes live performances from across the globe (including Australia & NZ), but also stacks of very special bonus features including behind-the-scenes footage and karaoke films!

The first disc features tracks drawn from high-energy live performances including much-lauded shows at T in The Park, Glasgow Barrowlands and the Brixton Academy in London, as well as karaoke films for 'Matinee' and 'Take Me Out' to give hipshaking viewers a chance to sing along to their favorite Franz classics! You can also enjoy exclusive behind the scenes footage from recent Franz Ferdinand tours.

The second disc contains two full throttle live performances from shows at Brixton Academy and San Francisco in 2004 and extensive interviews filmed on the band's tour bus in which the guys discuss tracks on their multi-platinum debut album. Additionally, the disc includes three bonus live songs taken from their 2004 Australian/New Zealand tour, as well as special interactive features!

I was taken by surprise when I first heard this band a few years back... their music is really quit impressive. The chance to see them live in concert is, alas, something I haven't had a chance to do yet, so this 2-disc DVD set is the next best thing really, and what a great thing it is.

With a full list of their "Live at Brixton" concert, plus their "Live in San Francisco" concert it's a full on Franz-fest... and that's just disc 2! Disc 1 has 14 main tracks of live performances from around the globe, plus a pile of Bonus Features, including some Karaoke tracks and some CD-ROM features... talk about a welcome overload!

Some of the sound is a little flaky in places due to the conditions of a live concert, but actually, I kinda liked it... it's refreshing to know it really IS a live performance and not just a video of one with a studio-mixed track laid over the top... keeps it 'real' and it confirms that these guys, unlike some bands, sound just as good in person as they do after the sound engineers have mixed the hell out of them.

overall, if you really want some new, appealing music that you can easily dance to, then what are you waiting for? Get out to your nearest music retailer and grab some Franz... if you appreciate the visual side of a performance as well, this is the DVD you should reach for... I did, and I am far from disappointed... I think the disc is getting a groove worn in it from the laser of my DVD player! Wink Icon
