Bad baker is an interesting choice for a brand name but it is going to draw attention. I had seen these biscuits in the groceries but never bought them despite being close to numerous times but the children always wanted Oreos to fill the cookie jar. So this was a good opportunity to try to sway their minds and it has worked. When we received the Biscuits our youngest child Tyler was laughing at the illustration of the baker as he was in a fighting stance and told us that this baker must do taekwondo as he does.

I took out two biscuits and poured myself a coffee to accommodate them. They are coated in almost a cookie dust and full of sweet chocolatey flavour and are full of decent-sized chunks of chocolate which all combines to a biscuit a bit too sweet but still very delicious. Our children absolutely loved them and were quick to point out these are in our local supermarket so we can get more. They are held well together which surprised me as when I first saw them I assumed they were going to fall apart and be crumbly but this was not the case.

We will definitely be getting these biscuits again and will be looking at getting the other flavours too as I am keen on the ginger ones. The kids are convinced of making some room in the cookie jar for these and the youngest son wants to collect the wrappers for the taekwondo baker as he now calls him.

Rocking in at a very solid "Second Place" in the lineup of the four varieties I have tried, this is one mighty fine cookie. As with the rest of the range, the home-made vibe is evident. The little differences between each cookie give them character, but the consistent quality ensures that you know every bite is going to be as good as the previous one. Not that they will last long enough to degrade at all. At least, mine didn't. LOL Icon

Seeing these on the shelf at both supermarkets I visit gave me great pleasure, as they are usually on sale at one or the other, and while they are a little more expensive than similar offerings, they taste a whole lot better than any of the cheaper options.

Double-choc is nothing new, however these are very well made and are still somewhat unique because of the incredible texture - soft and chewy but hold together well to minimise crumbs... which is important because after trying them, you won't want to waste even a single morsel. The only problem with that for me was I ate them while sitting at a local park doing some long timelapse photography and I got a few strange looks from passers-by as I was licking the inside of the plastic tray to get the last crumbs into my mouth.

Overall, while they failed to hit me with any major Vitamin Wow, they were a genuine delight to eat and I have since bought more packs. The catch-phrase "Try one, then try stopping" is absolutely correct. If they appeal, you'll need an iron will to avoid inhaling the entire pack in one short sitting. Clearly, I don't have that level of self-control... and when I have one of these in my mouth, I really don't care. LOL Icon

Chocolate chip cookies have to be the ultimate crowd-pleaser comfort biscuit. I think that there would be very few people who didn't like them, however the standard of biscuits can vary dramatically across the different brands. In our household we rarely buy chocolate chip cookies any more, having grown tired of what we consider to be sub-par offerings from many of the major brands. However, this challenger to the market, double chocolate chunk cookies by Bad Baker could be due to give the market a real shake-up.

I was really excited to try these cookies as they appealed to both the dark (me) and milk (everyone else) chocolate lovers within our house. The cookies had the perfect balance between the sweeter and more intense chocolate, and were really loved by kids and adults alike. Chocolate chunks would be an accurate description of the pieces of chocolate contained within them. These aren't your standard small chocolate chips, but larger and more substantial pieces which pack a huge punch of chocolate flavour. The tag line of 'try one, then try stopping' is very well deserved! The cookies struck the perfect balance between hard and soft, and were slightly larger than a standard chocolate cookie, so felt incredibly generous and decadent.

The pack size was very generous. It certainly seemed to be larger than most packs of similar biscuits which was a very good thing given how delicious they were. The packaging was nice and simple, and certainly effective at keeping the product in very good condition through transport and storage. Similarly to other products in this range, the ingredients list didn't have too many ingredients which you wouldn't have in your pantry at home, so these are the perfect time-saver to keep in the cupboard for so many occasions.

Overall, another fantastic product from this brand. A crowd-pleaser for all ages, and an easy win for any occasion. Try these, you will not be disappointed.

It's interesting to compare the different types of cookies that you can get. One would expect there to be a reasonable amount of variance in the nutritional information or calorie count dependent on what type of cookie it is. In that respect, if someone were to pick one of the Bad Baker cookie range based on calories per serving, they would be surprised to find that the entire range only has a difference of 4 calories, with the Double Chocolate Chunk sitting on top with 120 calories per bikkie, and the Ginger and Dark Chocolate having the least calories, but still weighing in at 116 calories. There is barely any difference. So despite the very indulgent name, this singular variety that has both milk and dark chocolate so not really significantly junkier than any of the others.

There isn't really a lot that can be said about this cookie that has already said about the other varieties as well. The packaging is basic and would benefit from being resealable as the pack has 12 servings but expects it to all be eaten within 24 hours of opening. The cookies are large compared to the big cookie brands. The cookies are soft to eat.

Actually, that is perhaps the one defining feature of this specific cookie; the softness. The texture is so soft that is reminiscent of how the large gourmet Cookie Time cookies used to be decades ago (and after you microwaved them for 10 seconds). The softness is difficult to fully comprehend, it is almost like watching a sandcastle crumble at the beach; just the slightest nudge and it disintegrates. Soft like a cake, but the consistency of a cookie. It's weird to think about, but that is what we have.

The chocolate flavour is enjoyable, but nothing new. What is great (and adds to that old-time microwaved Cookie Time feel) is the melting point of the chocolate. Practically a liquid at room temperature, this cookie absolutely melts in your mouth.

Sometimes you just need something sweet to get you through the day, and on those occasions, when there is no home baking to have or chocolate lying around, there is nothing better than reaching for a round circle of pure heaven. These biscuits hit the spot perfectly. A great combination of rich chocolate and chewy dough work perfectly together.

I do love the packet where it says Eat within 24 hours of opening. Alternatively, google how to store cookies. Honestly I don't think these would last 24 hours in this house. I opened after lunch as I just needed something extra to have while I was doing some computer work and I found I was reaching for them like they are going out of fashion. Before long I realised I had ate a little under half of the packet. They are just so easy to eat. My girls came home and there went another two and then the husband came and another two were gone and then another three before long I looked at the packet and there was only three left and I am not sure if they will even survive the night.

They taste just like home baking but I think they are richer in flavour due to the double chocolate chunk which makes it more pure. I was also surprised at how big the chocolate chunks were compared to how soft the biscuit was - the ratio is spot on. I also really like the price because it all seriousness baking is not that cheap when you throw in the power and ingredients and the hassle so I think these are perfect and definitely something I will be buying again.

I had not heard of this brand before and would probably of looked right past them if I had seen in the groceries as although it is cute and revealing I would of skimmed over it. But now after trying I am completely sold and will be recommending them to friends and family. All four of us enjoyed and my eldest is already conspiring of ways to have another one including offering to make us all a hot chocolate after dinner and wouldn't it be nice to have a biscuit with it. They are right look no further if you're after cookies that are so good that they really are very, very bad - but they really are very, very good!!.

You have to go a long way to find something better than chocolate where children are concerned. Miss Eight and Mr Ten were so excited when they saw this review product that they insisted on organising a taste session, in the process, of course, ensuring that they got two cookies each! The remainder of the packet contents were put into a bowl and offered to the four grown-ups. It was a vote of confidence that everybody liked them and tried at least one - even those who professed to not being chocolate lovers had gallantly eaten their share.

We liked the way the cookies were soft rather than brittle. Some chocolate chip cookies are hard and you have to microwave them - or even dunk them - to soften the pieces. The chips in this product are already gooey without being too soft so that they are ready to melt in your mouth as soon as you eat them. The combination of dark and milk chocolate chunks means the flavour is neither too sweet nor too strong, just a nice balance which appeals to palates of all ages.

With all natural ingredients, these cookies are ideal for a special treat for a child's lunchbox or even an occasional afternoon tea. They are just the right size for a smaller child; an adult or older child might eat two (as our kids did!) but more than that would be too rich. Because they taste home-made, they are a nice treat to keep in a biscuit tin for visitors or just as a dessert item for the family. And, of course, they would be a nice substitute for a home-made item when a last minute "bring-a-plate" item is requested for that afternoon tea that everyone has forgotten to diary in advance.

There were two cookies left so the children and I decided to make a cheesecake base and crumble the biscuits into it. We substituted them for some of the digestive biscuits, let the base set in the fridge, then topped it with a mixture of fresh lemons, cream cheese, and caster sugar. Not only was the base much nicer done this way, but the chocolate flavour and lemon were a great combination. It is probably something I would not do again because the cookies are so nice just eaten on their own, but I wanted to see if they would be good used in other ways. And they were!

This product has a long shelf life, but once the pack has been opened, the contents need to be eaten within 24 hours or stored properly. The instructions on the packet suggest that a google search will yield advice on how to keep them fresh, but for me it is simple. In the unlikely event that there were ever any left, I would freeze them: that is the safest way to keep food items of this type in the best condition.
