Product reviews...
When I came across this lavender and lemongrass conditioner bar I wanted to try it because of it stating that it worked in all hair types and one of my favourite scents are lavender and lemongrass so I was very excited to try it. When it arrived I immediately noticed how much care was put into the boxes design as it was so beautifully coloured and I enjoyed the little pictures of lemon and lavender. It was all super aesthetically pleasing.
The box was easy to open which is great since I'm hopeless at opening things. As soon as I opened it I could smell the strong citrusy scent of lemongrass with the sweet notes of lavender shining through making it smell overall refreshing and fruity. The colour of the conditioner bar is a nice cream and the texture of it is smooth and easy to apply to the scalp, after rinsing I found my hair had gained a horrible dry texture that I tried to correct by applying more of it but it still had the dry feeling so I used another conditioner. I was so confused because the description on the conditioner bar said it worked for all hair types so I don't know what I did wrong it just seems to not work in my hair.
Overall I would not purchase in the future as it didn't work for my hair but I would recommend you definitely give it a try - it is easy to use and smells great and may be suitable to other hair types.
These are fantastic, there is no other way to put it! The box is cute and compact, and a lovely circular 'soap' was inside. The first thing that you are greeted with is the beautiful aroma, it has a lavender scent, and it is simply divine. I opted to use traditional shampoo, as I wanted to take things one step at a time, change is hard for my family and I find the gradual approach works best for everyone. I grabbed the conditioning bar, and this was the part of the process that I was a little nervous about. I can't stand slimy textures and I did wonder what would happen after the bar got wet, I worked it into my hair, and it took a little longer than working through traditional conditioner, but nothing to arduous. The texture of the conditioner in my hair was nice, and the aroma was beautiful.
The true test of this product is the manageability of it when you hop out of the shower. As a person with frizzy, thick hair I was a little worried about the ability of this conditioning bar to manage my hair, but it worked really well. I was able to brush it, and this may seem like stating the obvious but for those of you with thick curly hair, you will know that not all conditioners are created equally, and some leave your hair unbrushable and helps it to knot up.
I have been using the conditioning bar for several weeks now and it is still looking almost untouched. This makes it incredible value for money, as a mother with three daughters the amount of conditioner that we go through is incredible. I do worry about all the chemicals that we as a family are consuming and putting down the drain, to find a product that is all natural, ethical, and value for money is brilliant.
As with the Lavender Love and Rosemary Shampoo Bar - I am in love with this smell. It reminds me of clean babies after just having a bath, when they smell so yummy that you just want to eat them. It is the smell of innocence and I love it.
As with the Shampoo Bar this conditioning bar is just so simple to use, I am wandering why it took me so long to take the leap and leave the plastic bottles behind. You have complete control as to where you want to use the bar and I find just rubbing on the ends it working great. As only myself and my eldest use conditioner I find I over indulge when applying and it still looks brand new compared to the shampoo. My hair is feeling smoother on the ends and it has a very nice glow to is. The box indicates there are 50 - 70 washes per bar which sounds very reasonable indeed.
I make a conditioner spray for my girls hair, which I apply daily. It helps keep tangles and nits away and basically just gives a nice glow to their hair. I did find this not as user friendly as I am usually used to. I had to rub my hands over it for quite a while until I got rather a lot on my hands and then ring them out into the bottle of water. I had to do five or six times to try and get enough of a scent. But the spray is working great and the smell, although subtle it is still coming thru.
I do like the size of this conditioner and it is perfect for going away. It really does not take up much room in the toiletry bag at all. It does not take long to air dry and it is very user friendly. I like the way it feels on my hair and has not dried my hair out at all and I can honestly say in the past week my hair is definitely feeling more hydrated. I am however a little put off by the price, but in saying that I think the pros out weigh the cons and I am just loving how simple it is. It is a product that has converted me and I will not be going back to main stream conditioners again. I can definitely recommend.
I am secretly - well, maybe not even secretly, a hippie, and am trying to do my very best to save the planet one act at a time. I have been like this for a long time - 15 plus years, so the transition to using shampoo and conditioner bars with cardboard/paper recyclable boxes instead of constantly buying plastic bottles was not really an ''outside the box'' (sorry, punny) type of idea, but with so many on the market, I was not really sure which to try. Seeing the Ahhh... ones come up for review was the last push I needed, and I requested them. Luckily for me I received a shampoo and a conditioner (thank goodness!).
I was lucky enough to receive the lavender and lemongrass version, which is suitable for all hair types. I was extremely pleased as I adore the smell of lavender! Without even opening the box, you can smell the lovely fragrance, with the lavender being more subtle than I thought it would. My hubby was pleased, as he was worried it may be too strong for his sensitive, allergy prone nose, but it was not the case. The scent does become stronger once it is wet but, it is currently sitting in my bathroom, and you can no longer smell it, so definitely not overpowering. Back to the packaging - not only is it pretty and appealing (and each scent is a different colour), but a huge plus and point of the plastic free and making long term changes, is the recyclable packaging.
The conditioner bar instructions are to use it like normal conditioner - put onto wet hair and then rinse off, but you can also use it in a more intensive way and not rinse it off. I personally prefer to use it in the traditional way, but for my children who all swim, can see the advantage to leaving it on. When you use it you honestly use such a small amount that it should last for the 50-70 uses it states, but I have not had the chance to use it that many times before reviewing so cannot confirm that. I usually only condition the ends of my hair, so again, if you were using it all over, and had long hair (mine is just past my shoulders) it may not last as long?
A few other pluses of a conditioner bar - no "oh sorry Mum, I decided to use it all by squeezing it out/ leaving the bottle open/ just because it smelled nice I used it like body wash" things happening, it is easy to carry with you to campsites/ holiday spots/ beach visits, and no cumbersome bottles to pack or lids to pop open. I would like to know if it is okay to use with tank water as it is all natural? Ahhh..... would love to know?
I really liked how it made my hair feel - especially after using the matching shampoo bar. My hair felt lovely and soft and was easy to comb through as well. I especially liked when using it for the second time through all of my hair, that days later my hair did not feel heavy and weighed down nor too smooth. I am really excited to see how long this bar lasts and will definitely try some of the other products in the Ahhh... range to see if they are just as nice!.
FYI - in the photo the conditioner bar is the white looking one.
Lavender and lemongrass are two of our favourite perfumes, but we thought the lemongrass was far more prominent even though it was listed last. The aroma became stronger once the bar was wet and lingered for several hours afterwards. I was interested to read that the conditioner can be applied in the normal way and rinsed off, or a smaller quantity can be massaged in and just left on the wet hair. The box states that there are 50-70 washes per bar; I wonder if that will be the case if it is always used as a regular conditioner because we needed quite a lot to coat our hair properly.
It is a plus that the bar comes in a small, recyclable packet and is made from all natural ingredients. The price could be seen to be a little steep, but it is important to take the number of potential applications into account. I have short hair so I will probably get around three months' use out of one bar - although our family is keen to try it too! I have already tested it with a group of friends who have all given it the thumbs up and asked where they could buy it. Like me, they are into natural products and avoid using non-recyclables whenever possible.
I did not realise until I stayed in three different places on three consecutive nights just how convenient this product is. It is so easy to pack; it is compact and will not break or spill in a suitcase, so is ideal for someone like me who often travels away from home. Individual travel sized bottles or sachets are all very well, but they can create a huge volume of waste, much of which is non-recyclable. And the quality of these single-use packs is frequently quite low so it is reassuring to find that this conditioner bar consists only of natural ingredients.
I liked the effect on my hair. Mine is very fine, needing to be cut short and washed every day, so a good quality conditioner is essential to stop it from drying out. My niece's hair is long and quite frizzy, so she too needs a good conditioner to tame the curls. She liked it too, although she said she needed quite a lot to do the job! It was encouraging to find that both of us, with such different hair quality and lengths, could both use the same product. We are now looking forward to trying some of the other products in the range to see if they are equally effective.
