I had seen this advertised at the cinemas but never got a chance to go and see it so I was more than happy for this to be included in my review parcel.

I put the DVD on and the kids and I settled in for a movie, I didn't realise that it was such a long movie but most the time we were in stitches laughing so the time seemed to go very fast. I think that Mark Wahlberg and Rose Byrne did a great job of playing parents, they were optimistic and didn't expect any problems but the kids made sure that nothing was smooth sailing. I had to laugh at the way the families got to choose the child for fostering almost like you would go to the SPCA to adopt a cat or dog. There was plenty of laughs and some gut wrentching scenes, I think I cried tears of joy and sadness with the characters.

Isabela Moner did a fantastic job of a moody teenager who is trying very hard to push the adoptive parents away but keep the younger siblings protected. I had to laugh at the way she goes "but everybody is doing it" and expecting the parents to understand. I think that the movie dealt with the challenges that modern parents deal with quite well, I"m not looking forward to my boys being teens with all the stuff that they will be facing.

The subject of fostering is a difficult one, it makes people think of horror stories and things that go wrong and yes it was mentioned that the kids would have problems from being past from carer to carer and how hard it is for the kids to learn to trust as they have not had a happy or stable life so far but it can also be incredibly rewarding providing for the kids. This movie managed to touch on both topics in a way that was respectful to all. I did like how in the beginning it states that this movie is based on a real story.

I would recommend this movie to anyone who wants a good laugh and who can take a joke. The actors did a brilliant job and my favourite character would probably be LIzzie as she pretends to be tough but she is hurting inside, even though she is a teen you want to keep her safe. I will be watching this again and might actually get to the bonus features this time.
