Product reviews...
I don't use air freshness, I gave up on them years ago after finding it affected my breathing too much and would send me into coughing fits, the amount I would have to spray to have any effect was just crazy. It would go from not helping, not helping, not helping to wham!!!! overpowering beyond belief. Now, I don't like the flavour of orange and similar much but I love the smell a lot, so I may have accidentally gone a little overboard when I first sprayed this, but it didn't do much as I had kept it pretty level when spraying.
I worked out pretty quickly that one needs to aim this upwards at an angle in order to get a good result out of it. Spraying it in this manner means it distributed more and by the time that it reached where I was standing or sitting, it had dispersed well. I decided to try this in the toilet after someone had stunk it out (meaning no one wanted to go in, even if desperate), the bedrooms (which had general, the Windows have been shut for too long smells) and the car whic had had wet swim gear left in it in hot weather, for almost a week.
Spraying it in the bathroom the stink was neutralised within just a minute, a great plus when everyone decides they need the toilet at the same time. In the bedrooms is got rid of the cooped up oder and left the rooms smelling nice and fresh. The car I decided to add a little more risk to myself by spraying just before we hopped in the car and leaving the windows closed. Not only did the spray effectively get rid of the damp togs smell, it didn't linger strongly in the air, making me and my lungs rather happy. I've ended up really liking this and now I know I need to try all the others so I can find a favourite.
I have been a bit of an Earthwise advocate for awhile now I have tried numerous products in the range and just love them for their gentleness and their level of caring for the environment. I have in the past also tried some of the air freshener sprays but had not tried the sweet tangerine. From past experience I have come to realise the scents of earthwise products do not have the same strength level other less gentle products have. I figure this is because they are using less dangerous natural perfumes dervied from plants/fruits so I am happy to make this sacrifice.
The Tangerine air freshener definitely fit this as the scent is not very strong, after spraying the air 3 pumps you get a very mild sweet citrus scent in the air I like that it is not overpowering but for masking strong odours you may not get the same effect as you do from other brands of air freshener. I generally do my cleaning around the house and finish by squirting air freshener into the rooms to give them a fresh fragrance so this was perfect for me as I could use it after cleaning and the house smelt clean and fresh.
Being a liquid rather than a aerosol you do find that the air freshener does leave a bit of a liquid and falls to the ground rather than floating in the air for a while but as I said I know this would be less damaging for the environment than an aerosol and also more gentle on my family and home environment so I did not mind this fact. It is also good for this fact as you can see right through the bottle to see just how much air freshener you have left whereas with aerosol cans it is a bit of guess work involved.
I have tried a couple of earthwise products through KIWIreview's now which I love and therefore they have become staples in our grocery shopping. I was interested to see if this air freshener lived up to the same high standard and I can confidently report that it did! The scent of this product is sweet tangerine and I can certainly vouch that it smells exactly as described which is wonderful. So many products on the market these days don't so this is something that I really appreciated in the product.
We have been using this air freshener in our toilet since receiving the product to review and also our lounge.... that may sound a bit strange but with a toddler still in nappies and the lounge being where we change him - this spray has certainly been a lifesaver for everyone's noses! One thing I have really noticed is that this product doesn't smell like a toilet product, that's probably a weird thing to say, but ya know, some scents just remind you of toilet spray? Well this one doesn't, its refreshing and full of citrus scents, a welcoming change which also works perfectly when its not just the toilet you are spraying it into!
I love the packaging, earthwise style that rings true to their brand. I also like the fact that its not an aerosol can and sprays the liquid straight out - which you can see in the bottle and monitor how low the levels are for when a new one is required. There is quite a few different options available in this range, I have tried one other scent and totally love that as well. This product does its job, is better for the environment, cost effective and one I will be buying again! Thank you earthwise!
As a young adult male, living in a flatting situation with two other adult males, air fresheners are a must. We all eat a lot of meat and drink a lot of beer. This combined with the unfortunate layout of our tiny flat (aka the toilet is within two metres of all of our bedroom doors), means using the restroom can quickly make the flat an inhospitable place to be, without intervention.
So I thought I'd see whether this sweet tangerine air freshener could do something about the stench that we create. After a BBQ on the weekend, that consisted of practically nothing but meat (some of which marinated in chilli rubs), I found myself having to make several trips to the restroom the next day. While unpleasant at the time, it formed the perfect opportunity to test out the product.
The product comes in a 250ml bottle, which is about half the volume of the other products ranges that Earthwise sell. The bottle feels quite firm as if it is thicker, but that could just as easily be due to the smaller size of the bottle. Interestingly, where many air fresheners these days are gases propelled by aerosol, this product is a simple liquid spray bottle with an atomizer nozzle. Now unlike the other product types in the big bottle, I have had no issues with the bottle leaking at all. It seems a much sturdier design, and the locking mechanism works really well. I feel confident throwing it in a bag knowing that it won't leak everywhere.
Back to the toilet fiasco, and I sprayed the bottle 2 to 3 times as was specified on the bottle. Now it honestly had little effect. I could tell there was a slight citrus scent in the air, but it did little to cover or neutralize the smells in the room. When the bottle says "a gentle choice", it's not kidding around. It took an additional 2-3 sprays to get the scent to a level that neutralized the odours (or reduced my sensitivity to the bad odours).
The smell itself is citrusy, but also has that kind of smell that you associate with a toilet product (I can't think of a better way to describe it, perhaps it's just due to the high number of citrus-scented toilet products), so this scent is probably one that I personally will only be used in the toilet.
It certainly works but would be better suited for refreshing a stuffy room, unless you have no problem with upping the dosage, and then it works well to cover most scents. It's most likely due to the use of a liquid versus a gaseous air freshener, as the liquid doesn't spread as well compared to a full gas, so the air freshener is certainly a limited range product. To some, that would actually be a huge selling point, as many people can react to certain smells (I had an English teacher that got a migraine if anybody sprayed Lynx in the room), so this is a gentler option that can freshen the air, without overly dominating the room.
I love the smell of all kinds of citrus, so I was looking forward to trying out this variety at home. I have an old house that always smells a bit dusty, no matter how well I clean it, so I like to keep some flowers around to make the rooms smell sweeter. However, when I am busy, I tend to forget to replace them and end up with dried (and no longer scented) flower arrangements!
Enter this air freshener, which has a delightful lingering smell a little like my mandarin tree when it is in full production. I sprayed it in the morning and when I came back in the evening there was still the slight hint of citrus, sweet and very pleasant. In the past I have used orange oil and dried peel to keep my cats away from seedlings while they are still at the vulnerable stage, so I was hoping this product would stop them from scratching the furniture inside. Cats don't like orange at all; but, although it repels them, it is harmless so is a good product to use when you have an insistent moggy.
The smell is quite strong so you don't need a large amount, but it does tend to be quite limited in the spray distance so I tried holding the bottle as high as I could and aiming towards the ceiling. It did seem to linger more when sprayed like this as the droplets spread more evenly through the room. The first time I used it I had sprayed from waist level, and it did not seem to have so much staying power although the scent was lovely while it lasted.
I found if I sprayed it on to the back of my elderly sofa the fabric held the citrus smell and it permeated the room: because the sofa is quite old and a dark tweed colour, there was no staining from the spray. I would have been more careful, however, if I had been using it on a new piece of furniture or a fabric that was a lighter colour.
My aunt arrived while I was testing it, and gave me a piece of advice: she used to spray air freshener on to her curtains, but rather than spray it straight on to the fabric, she used to spray it on to a handkerchief and then tuck the handkerchief inside one edge of the seam where there was a gap between the curtain fabric and the lining. She suggested doing the same with a new sofa - spraying a separate cloth and then folding it over the back. You are never too old to learn something new!
Even after treating every room in my house, I found I had used hardly any of the bottle. I will be enjoying a tangerine flavoured home for quite some time. I just hope the cats don't mind!
I am absolutely loving the new range of air fresheners from Earthwise, I find that many of the other brands of air fresheners to be quite strong and over powering and also that sometimes it is hard to find one in a scent that I actually like as many are just to flowery for me, so to see that Earthwise has released some in fruitier scents is fantastic!
The sweet tangerine air freshener comes in an attractive see through bottle, which is great for being able to keep an eye on how much liquid is left in the bottle. The bright orange colours really pop and standout against the white of the bottle and this is a product which would be easy to spot on a supermarket shelf. The bottle features a trigger system, and I love the size of this it is small enough to hold comfortably in your hand, and the trigger is easy to pull without breaking your arm! The directions were easy enough to follow, a few quick shakes and then turn the trigger to the on position, and then spray, only a couple of sprays were needed to produce a beautiful aroma of fresh tangerines.
I have to say I loved the aroma that this gave in just a few squirts, it smelt like fresh juicy tangerines that had just been squeezed, and filled the air with such a fresh and fruity smell that was just lovely and refreshing. Throughout the last week I have used this several times in the bathroom, and in the kitchen and each time it has worked wonders in reducing unpleasant odors, just a few sprays seems to be more than enough in keeping odors at bay, and this is one product which I am happy to spray around the kitchen and dining areas due to it being made from natural ingredients, the scent doesn't stay around particularly long but it is just enough to leave everything smelling fresh.
Miss 4 seems to love the scent of this also and has been asking that I spray a little in her room at night before bed to scare the monsters away, apparently monsters don't like oranges! Normally our 'monster spray' consists of water in a spray bottle, but this I am happy to spray a little of in her room at night due to it being so natural. My mother in law also loves the scent of this and has gone out and brought her own after walking into our house the other day and asking what the lovely smell was.
This is another great product by Earthwise which will be added to my grocery shopping list when it is running low, I love that Earthwise makes products such as these affordable and that they are taking such great steps at making the environment a lot cleaner and healthier.
