Product reviews...
I've had to keep the on top of cleaning my Windows the last couple of years as I put bubble wrap on them to help insulate the house, and a clean window is easier for the bubble wrap to stick to than a dirty one. Now is generally the time of year that the bubble wrap comes down but my daughters room required new wrap up and for some reason she'd attempted to use her tongue to clean it... Ick. I used this spray on her room and gave them a wipe off. There were no streaks and the Windows looked beautifully clean.
A bigger task that I had in mind was the inside of my front screen window of my car, although it had had a clean before it cam to me, they seemed to miss the interior of the window and it has always irritated me when driving but other brands of window cleaners don't treat my breathing nicely. You don't need much of the spray, so this is going to last a very long time. I didn't time myself well and ended up needing to drive right after using this, and a wet day meant I couldn't open the windows, but it didn't matter in the end as there was no overwhelming smell and it left a nice hint of lemon in the car, something my daughters loved.
I've already had to use this several times on the bathroom mirror, I don't know how they manage it, but the kids get toothpaste all over the darn thing, from top to bottom, left to right. So I brought this out and just two sprays was all I needed to clean the entire mirror, the toothpaste came of easily and left no residue on the mirror at all. Given the number of times I've used this, there's still tonnes of use for it yet, it doesn't make my lungs suffer and leaves a nice lemony scent in the air. This will definitely be the window cleaner I buy from now on.
Cleaning windows is one job I absolutely HATE with a passion! I always end up more frustrated with the final outcome than what I was before and wished I had left them alone. Too many products leave streaks, and then finding the perfect cloth or paper towel to clean them with is hard too - sometimes you get fuzzy bits left behind, other times little bits of microfibre cling to the window. I feel like I just can't win! And then there are the chemical smells that come from them. I am very sensitive to the smell of sprays etc and have to be careful as many of them give me headaches and blurriness.
When I received this bottle of Earthwise window and glass cleaner I was excited to try it. Having tried a few of the Earthwise products I knew that it was eco friendly, natural and safe and wasn't going to smell like hundreds of chemicals squished into a bottle. I love a cleaner than has a lemon scent - there is something about lemons that remind you of cleanliness! This product was certainly not overpowering in the lemon scent, but it was enough to tell you you had cleaned part of the house.
I decided to start with the bathroom mirror, as that can be a very difficult place to clean. It gets covered in hair, toothpaste splatter and all sorts that sticks when it gets covered in condensation. It only took two sprays to have enough to cover my little mirror, which is fantastic! This product is going to last a long long time. I decided to stick with a microfibre cloth that is specifically made for cleaning glass and windows. IT was soooooo easy to clean, there were no streaks and I could see myself perfectly in the mirror!
After this success I just had to try it on one of the windows. All of my windows are double glazed, and the front of my house is top storey so I struggle with cleaning them as its hard to get them perfect without doing the outside. After cleaning my lounge window with this product though I was happier with the result than I usually am - yes there was still a bit of stuff on the outside, but the inside was so much cleaner than usual that it didn't seem to matter too much! And once again, hardly any product was used and it was very easy to clean off.
This is one product I will be continuing to use in my house, and I hope to try more of the Earthwise products as I have been impressed so far!
Let me assure you....I hate cleaning windows - always have and probably always will. But I do love looking (or should I say through) peoples clean windows so I was keen to try another product from the Earthwise cleaning products range and really test my ability to actually achieve clean windows!
I was excited to see that there was finally a window cleaner on the market that didn't smell like window cleaner (if that makes sense...), you know the standard blue stuff, this Lemon plant powered Earthwise Window & Glass cleaner actually smelled really good. The scent wasn't overpowering and was really pleasant.
I decided to start with cleaning all the mirrors in the bathroom, bedrooms and lounge, and the nozzle on the bottle was really good, with options to spray and stream. I used paper towels as my cleaner cloth with the spray because I found using paper towels gave me the best finish and once I had polished all the spray off, I was very impressed with how clean they all were, no streaks and no residue left and best of all the lovely lemon fragrance.
I have since done all my interior house windows which very impressive results, I would totally recommend Earthwise Lemon window cleaner for all discerning users who want the best of several worlds; god competitive price, great cleaning power, healthy for the environment and lovely fragrance.
As far as cleaning goes windows/glass are probably my biggest pet peeve with a huge full length wall mirror in the bathroom and, mirrors in bedrooms I often find myself with a bottle of glaass cleaner and a microfibre rag in hand. I don't know what it is with my children when they brush their teeth but they seem to have competitions to see who can get the most toothpaste splatter on the mirror and who can cover the biggest area. Combined with my now teenage daughters make up smears the bathroom mirror needs a daily clean!
I loved the Earthwise glass cleaner as you only need a few sprays to clean the whole mirror as it is very effective and a little bit goes a long way for a mirror that is about 2 metres square this is very important as I don't want to have to go through huge levels of cleaning product. I found a few squirts could do the whole mirror and easily wipe away toothpaste splatters leaving me with a squeaky clean mirror again. With the mirror being so big I can't stand walking past the bathroom and seeing the tiny white dots so I keep a bottle of glass cleaner in the bathroom so I can have it on hand and have found this Earthwise cleaner is just lasting and lasting.
Besides the mirrors with a young child and a small dog I constantly find fingerprints, paw prints, and nose prints on my ranchslider glass. As much as I love my dog's nose art and little paw prints I prefer a clean window and this glass cleaner has made it easy to wash away the traces. I have found a lot of glass cleaners leave my ranch slider streaky in the sun when I clean the outside but this hasn't had that impact. We do have sixteen beehives so get a lot of pollen on the outside of our glass so they are a bit tougher to clean but I think perhaps the natural lemon cuts through this more effectively than some chemical cleaners.
Being an Earthwise product I love the plant based formula as it is gentle on my eczema prone skin and leaves me feeling confident I am not going to get the dreaded itchy skin after cleaning the windows. I will certainly make this my glass cleaner of choice as it is important to me to have an effective cleaner but also important to have a gentle product that is safe for me and my family.
A couple of years ago my partner and I moved to a house in a small coastal town with our two children. Since the move we have added to our tribe with the birth of another little boy. I hadn't realized how quickly windows could get dirty until I had children hehe, smearing dirty hands all over the window or pressing their mouth's up to the glass are some examples of how it happens. This house has numerous windows and sliding doors to try to keep clean, between children and the salty sea spray it seems to be a never ending battle though.
After having children I decided that I didn't want to be using vast numbers of nasty chemicals in the house, especially in areas the children are likely to be spending lots of time. Our household has been using many of the Earthwise brand products and find they bring peace of mind, while also doing a very thorough job of cleaning at the same time. Upon receiving my review box from KIWIreviews I was relieved I was lucky enough to be chosen to try out the Earthwise Glass Cleaner.
The bottle is easy to distinguish with the clear label and the 'drops' which is a noticeable part of each Earthwise product. I like that the bottle is fairly simplistic with the yellow accents. The spray bottle is an easy size to hold in one hand and the spray trigger is easy to work. Having young children in the household I liked that the nozzle could be closed when not in use. The bottle is recyclable which is good for the planet, and I would be keen to see if Earthwise has refills available to purchase.
When it was time to clean the windows I was impressed at how much of the cleaner came out with one spray. I used three sprays to do my large window and used a paper towel to clean it. After the window was finished it looked great, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that it had dried streak free. I then did a couple more windows and ended up with the same result. My next mission is to do my car windscreen which is covered in pollen and hard to see through with sun glare.
I will be purchasing this product in the future once I finish this bottle, as I love that it is safe for my family, environmentally friendly, effective and reasonably priced.
We are so lucky in our house - when it is a fine day our house is a sun magnet and we get sun all day. In the morning the sun bakes our dinning room and come the afternoon the kitchen and the lounge get it. There is nothing like lying on the couch with the sun streaking down on you, the problem lies though when you look at the windows and you think oh yuck. Our other issue is I love the windows and doors being open and letting in fresh air but as our house is surrounded by bamboo so do the bugs and we get lots of Flies and Sandfly thingies and more often then not they are squished and so the windows become blotchy with dead insects.
The other issue with my windows is they cry in winter and as the dinning room gets rather chilly we opt to stay in the lounge come dinner time and the dinning room becomes a junk room until mid November. As the room is neglected so are the windows as you can tell by the picture. The window on the right has been cleaned with the Earthwise Window Class Cleaner and the one on the left got cleaned straight after the picture was taken. I have to say I am rather chuffed at how clean it all came up.
As I have very sensitive skin, I did not want to take any chances and put on the gloves. I had my window washing cloth and the spray bottle and I was sussed. As the lounge was still sun soaking free on most of the windows I started on those. I found some areas took way more rubbing then I would of liked and I had to spray directly on to the problematic area as it did not come off by itself with only the residue on the cloth. The other issue I found looking directly at the window it looked streak free but as soon as I went for a different angle I found streaky marks which I was not impressed about.
I managed to do the lounge bar one window with sun on it, the kitchen and half of the dinning room. I decided to try out on the bathroom mirror and found again that it was rather blotchy the first time I tried to wash it and it took my three times to get it looking perfectly clean. Now the real test is my extremely fluffy cat likes to think he is a guard dog and at night he likes to sleep along side the laundry window and a lot of time he leaves his fluff all over the window. At times you can approach the laundry from outside and in different light you can not tell if he is actually still there. I have to say even though it did take a while it ended up looking beautiful and clean.
I was a little concerned that it was lemon scented but I have to admit the smell did not effect me. I hate lemon scented fly spray and I was worried it was going to be that yucky odour but this was rather pleasant. My real issue is at times while squirting with one hand I found the bottle would twist around, like it was loose but every time I went to check it was still really tight. I didn't feel like I fully trusted the bottle.
I think the price is fantastic but I probably would not buy again just because of the extra work I needed to use on the windows and also how streaky I found them. It is a nice product but I think its a little light for my liking and prefer something with a little more strength.
Cleaning windows is probably one of jobs I dislike doing just as much as I dislike dusting but it always looks amazing afterwards and I always think I wish I had of done that sooner. I was excited to try the Earthwise Window and Glass Cleaner in Lemon flavour and decided I would put it to good use. I really liked the bottle and found it nice to hold and it was light weight as well, I like the plain and see through bottle. I showed my mum the bottle who thought it looked good and was glad that the windows were going to be getting done. Our windows get dirty fast with the dust and trees around the house so it doesnâ ™t take long for the junk to build up. I also have a massive dog who loves to lean against the glass doors by the front door so the front door is always a mess. My nine year old son also likes to put his sticky fingers everywhere.
I started with the front door glass as it was the far the dirtiest. I liked how I only needed about 3 sprays, I used paper towels and the paper towel ended up rather black looking by the end of it but the glass looked amazing and the streak free finish was great. I often find these windows hard to keen as the whole double doors are 4 panels of glass, so it is a lot of glass to clean and to get streak free.
I also used the glass and window cleaner on the mirrors around the house which left them super clean and the reflection was crystal clear. The bathroom mirror worked a treat for removing all the toothpaste and soap spots that get left after my son cleans his teeth and washes his hands. I tried the cleaner on the caravan as well which I found cleaned the windows good even if the windows are a plastic type of window. I would recommend this product and find the cleaner goes a long way and is great for the price. I will be recommended this product to friends and family and I look forward to using it the future especially when my baby comes, keeping healthier cleaner windows is important to me.
I have been using Earthwise products for some time now, so I was pretty excited when I saw the Window and Glass Cleaner available to review as I didn't know they had a glass cleaning product on the market yet. The day my Earthwise Window and Glass cleaner arrived I took it straight out to the car to give it a good run for its money. I headed straight to the rear passenger windows which were covered in sticky children hand prints and food residue. I turned the nozzle to spray and sprayed 3 squirts onto the window as per the instructions on the bottle, which I didn't think would be enough but to my surprise it was. I gave the windows a light wipe with a paper towel and my windows were left clean and streak free with minimal wiping required.
I genuinely love every product I have tried in the Earthwise range, including the Window and Glass cleaner. I love that it is made in New Zealand, good for the environment and my children. I've been doing a bit of research on the background of Earthwise and found it very interesting that it was started in 1967 in a garden shed in Orini, I had no idea it had been around for so long.
Full price you can buy the Window and Glass cleaner for only $3.99 which I think is on par with most other glass cleaning products but awesome knowing that this product is good for you and the environment. It's by far the most effective glass cleaner I've used, works quickly and leaves the windows streak free which is the most important thing when it comes to cleaning your windows. The lemon scent is refreshing too, some glass cleaners I've used in the past have quite a strong chemical smell but not the Earthwise glass cleaner. I give this product a 10 out of 10 and definitely recommend you should give it a try in your home today.
I have been introduced to several Earthwise cleaning products, thanks to KIWIreviews, that have now become staples on our shopping list as they do the job at a reasonable price without harming the environment. When I was offered their plant powered Lemon Window and Glass Cleaner I had high hopes and I wasn't disappointed.
The first thing I noticed was that it was in a convenient trigger pack the same as most window cleaners are. The difference was that I could see the cleaner inside so knew how full the bottle was so no nasty surprises when the bottle gets low. Also the cleaner was a transparent colour so I knew no colour had been added to the natural product. The trigger was easy to use and had a dial on the tip so could select stream, spray or off.
I first tried it on some mirrors and I was pleased to see it got all the toothpaste and other nasties off with very little effort and left it streak free. I was also pleased that the directions on the bottle didn't suggest using paper towels as so many do. I just used an old tea towel that has become a rag thanks to staining and holes. My seven year old cleaned the inside of the conservatory windows. Some of these had fingerprints and paw-prints on them. I was surprised how easy she found the windows to clean and how good a job she did with the Earthwise spray. If only they did a product for thew outside of the windows too.
One thing I was surprised to discover is that Earthwise do not make a refill pack for the window cleaner. I would prefer when my bottle is empty to buy a refill as it is both cheaper and less rubbish going into the environment. I hope Earthwise will consider making one in the future as they have with some of their other products.
The hardest part of doing this review is trying to find a way to photograph the clean glass at the end to show you the results. The best I could do on this occasion is the photo attached. You aren't looking through a doorway here (even though you can see a door), the image attached is that of my clean bathroom mirror (everything to the left of the wood frame). The definition of the image and how clearly you can see the door and mirror as if it is in front of you, and not a reflection of what is behind you should be a good enough testament to the cleaning power of the product.
I generally like Earthwise products as they have a much more natural scent to them and often have more original and varying scent choices. In this case, the Earthwise have chosen to go the generic route and made it "lemon" scented. I say choose because the lemon scent doesn't so much come from lemon ingredients that help with the glass cleaning properties, but instead is derived from a parfum (a perfumed liquid weaker than a perfume, but stronger than an eau de toilette). The product could have had any scent, instead of going with lemon; the same scent as my fly spray, my bleach, and my dishwashing liquid. On the topic of the scent, it probably should have been more perfume than parfum, as the ethanol is the strongest component of the scent, giving it a chemically smell.
This bottle still has the same problem as the other cleaning products with this style of spray bottle, where it leaks all over your hands and the floor whenever you spray it (and once you open it, do not lay it on its side). The product cleans well, and not just glass, it works well on other surfaces too, but the constant leaking on my hand when I spray it is rather annoying. So I'll definitely use it until it runs out, but will I buy it again? Probably not until they find a fix for the bottle (especially as they are all about refilling their bottles, I need it to be a high-quality container).
I was given this product to review at just the right time. We had been on a trip to the Coromandel peninsula, and this trip had included lots of unsealed roads which were ready and waiting to coat every inch of the car in mud and dust! I improvised a window cleaner with a screwed up newspaper and some leftover spring water that had been sitting in the bottle for too long, and that sorted out the windscreen so that we were safe to drive, but it was not what I would call a squeaky clean finish. More like a lick and a promise - a BIG promise!
So once we had arrived home, I sorted some clean rags and opened the twist top on the window cleaner spray, and set to work on the disaster that was my windscreen. The result was much better than I had expected. The dirt lifted easily and a quick wipe with the other side of the cloth resulted in a sparkling, streak free finish. I tried to take a photograph to show how beautifully the glass had been restored to its original shine, but every single photo I took came out with the reflection of a nearby tree superimposed on my nice clear windscreen, so in the end I gave up trying!
Fired with the success of my car windscreen project, I turned my attention to my front door. The door is one of those old fashioned frame doors with several textured glass panels set into it. I think the idea was to let the light in, but I am often too busy to stop and clean the panels so the door manufacturer need not have bothered! But today was my door's birthday - at least, I had decided it was - so it too got the Earthwise treatment. Spiders scurried in all directions as the mighty spray attacked!
I really like the design of the bottle. It has a nice thick neck with shaped indents, designed for optimum comfort when your hand is gripping it. The nozzle is controlled by twisting the spray head so you don't accidentally spray yourself while you are moving the bottle from place to place. The trigger is a decent size too so is likely to be quite durable - I expect it will last for the life of the product. Not that the bottle is going to run dry any time soon. After cleaning all the car windows and both sides of my front door, I was surprised to see that the bottle still looked completely full. The directions did say that it was concentrated so would go a long way, and I have to agree that they were telling the truth. Great value for a cleaning product.
Cleaning windows is one of those jobs I absolutely hate and never do as often as I probably should, it always seems like the biggest task to get them clean but more so to get them to stay looking clean for more than 10 minutes with a 4 year old and a curious cat who can't help but touch the windows soon after they have seen me clean them! Seeing Earthwise had another product to there already great range - Plant Powered Window and Glass Cleaner seemed like the perfect item for me to request for review and like the perfect excuse for me to finally get around to cleaning those windows!
I decided to start off by cleaning my inside windows, as they were no where near are grubby as the outside windows which had been left covered in dust and dirt due to construction taking place on the sections behind us. The instructions on the back of the bottle said that you only require 2-3 sprays per square meter for cleaning windows, at first I thought surely not, this couldn't possibly do so when I decided to follow the advice I was amazed to find that this was in fact true, a couple of squirts per window which I then polished off with a clean, dry micro fiber cloth going round and round in circles with very minimal effort and I had the most beautiful sparkling clean, streak free windows and before I knew it the whole inside of the house was full of beautifully clean windows!
The outside of the house was the next mission along with the outside table which has a thick black glass top to it, as these were both extremely grubby I decided to give them a quick rinse with the hose to remove any debris and baked on dirt prior to cleaning. Before long I had sprayed the window and glass cleaner onto these allowing an extra spray of the liquid per window which I then spread into the surface with a cloth, rather than polishing the windows this time around I decided to pull out my Karcher Window Vacuum to see how the results would add up. I was pleased to see that once again the results were amazing and streak free due to this amazing window cleaner, I could actually see right through the windows to the inside of the house, they were so crystal clear.
Throughout the week this cleaner has been used several more times to clean mirrors, glass table tops and oven fronts and each time the results have been incredible, everything in my house is looking sparkling, dust and dirt free as a result, and best of all the lovely lemon scent makes the house smell amazing. I love the fact that the spray bottle is so easy to use, the trigger is so easy to pull and that there is a lock feature at the end of the nozzle which is a great added safety feature for those with young children. With 500mls of liquid in the bottle I can see this going a long way, as with all the cleaning I have done the bottle is still 3/4 full.
It is awesome to see Earthwise branching out and adding new products to their range, I love that there products are free from any chemicals and nasties and are safe from the environment they are now the only household cleaning products I buy!
