Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn get more action than they bargained for in the mother of all comedies!
After her boyfriend dumps her on the eve of their exotic vacation, impetuous dreamer Emily Middleton (Schumer) persuades her ultra-cautious mom, Linda (Hawn), to travel with her to paradise. When the trip takes an unexpected turn, the polar opposite mother/daughter duo realize they must settle their differences and work together to escape the outrageous jungle adventure they've fallen into.
Cast: Goldie Hawn (The Banger Sisters), Amy Schumer (Trainwreck), Wanda Sykes (Bad Moms)
This is Goldie Hawn's first feature movie in 15 years.
Product reviews...
I find Amy Schumer a funny actress, but I know she is not to everyone's taste, I am also a fan of Goldie Hawn, so I was keen to see a movie with two classic actresses in it. The online reviews for this movie were not great however, and I sat down to watch it without high expectations. I have to say I found this film funny, some of the gags were a little predictable, and there was a little over acting from a stereo typed character, but you get that with comedies sometimes don't you?
Over all it was a movie that showed woman as the lead, they get themselves into some trouble, but they get them selves out, and perhaps they don't do it with finesse it is a comedy, and sometimes perhaps we all need to laugh at ourselves a little more. What I liked about this movie is that it finishes with that feel good factor, but not in the 'predictable' way, and that put a smile on my fact too. Within the comedy there is a little truth that will cut close to most of us these days, Emily lives her life via social media, creating the 'perfect on line image', something we are all probably guilty of doing, and sometimes we miss out on those real life experiences while we are busy trying to impress the cyber world.
I watched this with my husband on a date night, and he enjoyed it too and I heard a few chuckles from his direction, so don't feel it's a girls night only film, I think if you like a comedy it would appeal to both sexes. I think the restriction rating is a little off though I have a 14 year old and I wouldn't be letting her watch this just yet, for me it was still a little overtly sexy in innuendo, personally I would say R15 but there is no offensive images within it. Overall I would say if you want a night with a little light hearted comedy then this movie will hit the spot.
