Product reviews...
What can I say Symantec have another winner in the Antivirus stakes with Norton's Antivirus 2006.
This package seems to be alot quicker loading itself into memory at Windows boot that the previous versions, which is a blessing, especially when it's used on a Celeron 2.2GHz Laptop with only 384MB of RAM.
The accuracy of this version seems to be still well above the norm from most of the other antivirus packages that are availalble today.
As each new year rolls around it seem that there is always a new way to download things onto your PC, be it Distributed File Sharing aka Bittorrent, or any of the popular Instant Message clients currently on offer, Nortons does a superb job of monitoring just about eveything that comes into your machine.
Now I can hear some those of you out there screaming saying it's still too expensive for you to consider buying it. To those I offer this advise, consider what will happen if you don't have some form of AV protection installed. At the very least your PC will become infected by an annoying little e-mail worm which will happily e-mail itself out to all your friends and family, making you not quite so popular for a time. Or worst case you get one of the real nasties that infect yout system, steal your internet account details, maybe even your bank account details & passwords, then it happily goes and wipes out most of your operating system, requiring a time consuming and quite possibly expensive reinstall.
Overall you cannot afford to be without some form of AntiVirus protection and personally this is one of the best.
