Product reviews...
I always like trying out a new drink, so when I got a bottle of this syrup in my review parcel I was quite happy and keen to give it a try. I have tried one of these water range before and had fun trying the different strengths and so decided I would need to experiment with this syrup as well, trying it at full strength, half strength and my own chosen amount. Starting, though, by looking at the bottle and it's easy to see just what flavour you should expect to be having, a great advantage meaning that I wouldn't have to spend time reading the labels to ensure the right flavour.
I decided to try this at full strength for my first taste of it and found that, for me, it didn't have quite the right taste to it, it had a slight sweet taste to it that didn't quite sit right for me, however my mother and partner both enjoyed the taste of it and happily finished off the bottle for me. I then made it at half strength but found it to be a bit weak in flavour but had a good tartness to it. I decided to then just make up single servings so I could fiddle with the amount of syrup used and ended up working out a strength just right for me.
It took a little more work than I would have liked to find the right flavour for me, but now that's its found I will happily drink this again.
I was a little wary of this home-style lemonade as I had tried the crafted lemon lime and found it not quite how I expected. Never the less we fizzed up our chilled water - (We always keep water in the fridge for the soda stream - makes them hit the right spot!). I inhaled the smell and found it quite sweet smelling, reminded me a little of throat lozenge's.
The kids were very excited so I made there's first and they were delighted. Then I cracked on and made one for me, and I was very pleasantly surprised. The flavour was true to label, a real home-style lemonade. Thirst quenching on these very hot days, and really enjoyable. I read the label and found that the flavour is 95% derived from lemons. I think this has made a huge impact on the true old fashioned flavour. I could see this flavour being a hit with anyone on a hot summer's day, but equally a good base for a more adult drink in the evenings.
I have introduced this to a few friends and family now and it remains a hit. In a tall glass with a few ice cubes and a twist of lemon / lime I get comments about how refreshing it is to drink, followed closely by what is it and where can I buy it!
The bottles are bright and easy to identify, white and yellow with a large image of a lemon on the front. These things are important to me as a consumer, as no one wants to spend longer than necessary hunting for that important item in the supermarket. I will definitely be adding this flavour to our shopping list, and I would recommend that anyone who is a fan of lemon / lemonade drinks gives this a try.
I love using my soda stream there is nothing better than an ice cold drink on a summers day. Since discovering the waters range it has become my favourite range to buy. I love the fact you can have a nice refreshing drink with less guilt than other sodas. The lemonade was the last one I had to try so I was very excited when one turned up for me to review.
Straight away I had to try it out. Opening the bottle I was hit with the lemon smell, it was perfect not sickly sweet smelling like a lot of syrups. Fizzing my water I realised the measurements on the cap were for the bigger bottle and I had used a small one so I needed to try and guess where the halfway spot was. On first taste it was a little strong for my tastes but was perfect for my husbands. After a bit of trial and error though I found the perfect mix for me, I liked mine with a lot less than the recommended amount of syrup.
The flavour was perfect it really did have the wonderful homestyle taste it it. it reminded me a lot of the home made lemonade I used to make, just so much easier to make and with the added bonus of a fizz to it. It has been loved by everyone who has tasted it and it is one I will be buying again for sure.
I love using our sodastream and particularly enjoy a good homestyle lemonade and I have to admit that up until now that has been in the form of a homemade lemon syrup which I put in sodastream fizzed water. But the 2 major issues with this is that it is time consuming to make up, and that it has lots and lots of sugar in it! So when I saw this new 'waters' flavour with natural sugars, I was keen to try some and compare.
The first thing I noticed is that it's very hard to figure out quantities when you only want to make up a glass at a time - as I prefer not to flavour the whole bottle in case I don't get through it all before the fizz disappears. I tried working out the measure that comes inside the lid, and my resulting drink didn't seem syrupy enough (I love a good kick of flavour), so I went back to just guessing and ended up with the perfect drink without too much trouble.
And yes it was the perfect drink - It had great lemon flavour and that real homestyle taste... and so easy! I even got my non-lemon-loving 7 year old to try it and she liked it too! And the great thing about sodastream is that you can make it stronger or weaker as you prefer - perhaps even just give a small lemon twist to soda water if that's your thing.
The great thing about this is that most of the lemon flavour comes from actual lemons and everything is natural. There is sugar in here in the form of fructose but when I compared it to a standard soft drink from my pantry the sugar content was considerably less... so whilst any soda drinks are a treat as far as I'm concerned, it's not too bad at all.
I'd confidently serve this up to visitors and definitely recommend it.
When I first tried this, I was VERY pleasantly surprised. Up to now I have tried soda stream fizzy water with the standard syrup and I have always found it sickly sweet. I have also tried it with frozen ice cubes of both lemon and lime. This was a favourite during my pregnancies and didn't add any extra sugar into my diet.
Although I really enjoyed the straight citrus juice in my drink, I wished that there was an option in between the syrup and my homemade juice cubes. The SodaStream Waters Fruit - Homestyle Lemonade gave me hope that it would be the right fit. I have got to say that the flavour certainly hit the spot. It wasn't too sweet or too sour. The kids loved it too.
Something to note is that this drink still has around three teaspoons of sugar in a 250ml glass. So in my book is it still very much a treat. Because it isn't too sweet, I was of the opinion that it wouldn't have too much sugar in it and it wasn't until I actually read the data at the back that I realised.
When I looked at the nutritional information for this drink, I found that there was also 10mg of sodium per 100ml. I found this interesting as it was one of the few drinks in that range that had sodium added. I would prefer to choose a drink without the sodium and as little sugar as possible. I also reviewed the pink grapefruit version and loved that one as well. The funny thing is that one didn't have sodium in it.
As far as taste goes, I love this drink and will be buying it again. I can see myself sitting in our back garden under a tree with a glass of Homestyle Lemonade in my hand as I watch the kids jumping on the tramp over the summer!
YUM, YUM, YUM this has got to be one of the best Soda Stream flavours I have ever tried, and definetely one of the best lemonade drinks I have had in a long time, the taste of it reminds me of the lemonade which we often enjoyed during our holiday over in America, our first experience of this being on the plane from Los Angeles to New York where I had asked for a drink of lemonade (by lemonade I had meant Sprite) and being served up a can of real fruit lemonade. when I questioned this I was told I had asked for lemonade, not sprite (to Americans Sprite and Lemonade are 2 different things).
Hearing that I had some review goodies on there way to me I had a couple of soda stream bottles ready chilling in the fridge to be used, and with some friends coming over that evening I decided this was the perfect time to make use of my Home style Lemonade syrup I had received. I poured the liquid into the cap and tipped it in to my water once I had fizzed it and gave it a good quick shake. My partners first impression as he took a sip of the drink was "mmmmm this is really good, it tastes just like the Minute Maid Lemonade from America", other comments included "it's lovely and sweet with the right amount of lemon taste to it" and "can you just buy this stuff at the supermarket and add it to normal water?". It definetely went down a treat and there was no way in which to fault it.
Upon my taste of the home style lemonade I thought the proportions of syrup to water were spot on, though if they aren't to your taste buds the beauty of having a soda stream means you are able to adjust the amount of syrup you use to suit your needs. This is definetely something that we will be enjoying over the coming summer months, beautiful and refreshing with a real lemon taste, i'm pretty sure it would go fantastic in a slushy or served over vodka to. A wonderful tasting product which I suspect we may be needing to buy more of very soon!
