Horrible Bosses 2 product reviews

Tired of always answering to others, Nick (Jason Bateman), Dale (Charlie Day) and Kurt (Jason Sudeikis) go into business for themselves. After demonstrating the prototype for an invention called the Shower Buddy, the guys attract the attention of Rex Hanson and his father, Bert. Bert invests in the trio's product, then cancels the order and steals their idea. Now heavily in debt and with no legal recourse, Nick, Dale and Kurt decide to kidnap Rex and use the ransom money to pay off their loans.

I do not remember the first one except that Jason Bateman and Jennifer Aniston where in it beyond that I can not recall much. I was not wanting a heavy movie and since this has been on our hard drive for a couple of weeks we decided to give it a go. Right from the beginning I was laughing out loud and thinking how silly it is but at the same time it still had some seriously funny moments.

I found it had a lot of slow tedious moments and took its time leading into the next scene. You could tell it was not going to end well for anyone and there where predictably a couple of cringe moments but as a whole it was not a bad movie. I just loved Jason Batemans character. I love how straight faced he can be when things are crazy around him and he just remains calm with his low husky voice. Just talking normally when everything around him is in panic mode. Or how wishy washy his friends where and could easily be swayed into anyones corner as long as you made a valid point.

I was surprised by all of the 'names' that kept appearing in the movie and just sat back and enjoyed the crazy ride. The scene at the end with the car chase was hilarious especially when the car went over the bridge and they all just acted normal and carried on driving. Or the beginning during the television interview and they said there companies name I just about had tears in my eyes.

There where some really memorable scenes, but in all honesty I am sure in a couple of weeks I would of forgotton most of them.

I was reasonably impressed by the original film, so I decided to give the sequel a go. I didn't really know how they were going to be able to make the general plotline remain relevant in this second film, but the writers did a good job switching tact to kidnapping rather than outright murder for the characters.

This film saw the return of Kevin Spacey and Jennifer Aniston, though the antagonists in this film were Bert and his son Rex (who is played by none other than Star Trek's young Captain Kirk a.k.a. Chris Pine). As with the first film, there were many generally predictable parts to it. It was rather obvious the end result, who would deceive and stab people in the back, etc. but the precise way in which it was going to go wrong was in the end unpredictable, and made it a joy to watch.

It did start to get a little boring during the execution of their big plan, but that was mainly due to having been shown a recap of their expected plan, then having to watch the actual run through at a much slower rate, which slowed the film down substantially.

I was kind of disappointed that there was so little contribution from Kevin Spacey and Jennifer Aniston, as I would have loved to see some vengeful ex-bosses aiming for revenge, but this was still a reasonable film. Also returning to the cast was Mother******* Jones, who had- while not really a larger contribution to the film -a more active role, providing a bit more than advice to the protagonists.

But it provided what it said it would; a drama and action filled comedy, and created a reasonably successful sequel. Although, it isn't a film that I would actively want to rewatch.
