Make believe gets a makeover in A Cinderella Story. Every girl's favourite fairy tale - with a twist. Substitute a cell phone for a glass slipper, a convertible for a pumpkin, and an L.A. suburb for a kingdom far, far away and what do you get? A happily-ever-laughter twist on the Cinderella tale!
Meet high school student Sam, who scrubs floors at a diner, copes with her wicked stepmother and stepsisters, and all the while dreams of Princeton (the perfect spot for a would-be princess to find a prince). But maybe she has a Prince Charming already: her anonymous e-mail buddy, who arranges to meet her at the Halloween dance.
Sam panics when Mr. Anonymous turns out to be the coolest guy on campus. Can he love a girl who isn't part of the in crowd? Can fairy tales come true? Sure - but only if Sam stands up for herself and turns her dreams into reality.

Yet another take on the story of Cinderella, her evil stepsisters and her evil stepmum. In this version we have Sam, a smart young girl who is treated like a slave, she has to work at the diner her father started (which has had a pink, awful makeover) and is generally treated like crap. She ends up chatting on-line with the school hunk and they fall for each other, even though at school he treats her like a no-body.
This isn't too bad a take on the Cinderella tale and would be good for the teen age range. Set in a highschool, as where else could it be set in the present day. The characters don't require much depth and I would have to say that the best characters are not the main characters, they are Sam's best-friend and her friend at work.
While this is a film that doesn't need any thought to it etc. it is a nice enough film and would be good for teens, and the best part would be at the end where Sam says that she doesn't need to worry about happy ever after as she's still young.
