One of those movies that we have seen many times but still find ourselves watching again the next time it comes on TV and my 10 year old quite often hires it from United Video when we have a movie weekend too. From the makers of the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe so it has a good start there a wonderful fantasy adventure about family and friendship

Such a powerful movie which inspires children to use their imaginations as they imagine the world of Terabitha using their own imaginations. The movie only shows glimpses of the magical creatures and the magical kingdom dreamed up by two children so the movie is really in the eye of the beholder as you create your own imagery to fill in the rest.

The one thing you will need if you have never watched the movie before is a box of tissues, unlike a lot of children's movies this one really is sad. I think it is realistic though and some children would be able to relate to being bullied and not fitting in like Jessie. A heartfelt story of how Jessie builds his confidence to stand tall and be himself through his friendship with Leslie and his adventures in the imagined world they create.

The Bridge to Terabithia, is one of my all time favorite movies. I own it on DVD and yes I watch it whenever it is aired on TV Smile Icon It is however one of those family movies that has me saying (at the end of every time I watch it)...."It's just not right, kids movies shouldn't be that sad". But that aside, this movie shows how much children go through and that they can over come most things with a little *or a lot* imagination.

The scenes in this movie are really amazing. The journey it takes you is truly inspirational. Each time my children watch this one, you can guarantee for days, sometimes weeks, after their little minds are in overdrive as they remember that their imaginations are wonderful and they can create anything their hearts desire. I love that the Bridge to Terebithia brings that out in my children, especially in today's world of video games and strange cartoons.

A movie that every time I watch it takes me back to my own childhood and the games we used to play, using our imaginations, and the safe worlds we created from dusk to dawn, and like Jess and Leslie, we could always pick up where we left off the day before.

A great movie with so many lessons to be learnt subconsciously. My children are aged 5-12 and all enjoy this movie, and all have watched it numerous times from start to finish. Its not a movie they get bored with easily, like so many out there these days.

Life is difficult at the best of times, but with the right friends, the right imagination and the right place to play you can achieve more than you ever dreamed.

When I first heard about this movie I was a skeptic, I usually don't like children's movies so when I decided to watch it I had a strong view of what it would be like. I was pleasantly surprised by the story, especially that instead of there being an image of this secret land Terabithia, you imagine it. It was realistic in how it presented the families and the children's lives as not being perfect but not to a point of being dramatic. A good story, but you will definitely need some tissues.

Two children become firm friends as they use their imagination to create a world where they can brave the problems that they face in real life. Although a reasonably bland movie, and containing a lot less of the fantasy aspect that I was expecting after seeing the ads, Bridge To Terabithia is still a good movie to sit and watch, with or without the kids.
It was easy to recognise the 'Da Vinci' exhibition that Jess and his music teacher went to see, as it's the same (or at least extremely similar!) as what was recently on display here in our local museum, something that even my young son was easily able to pick out!!
Flicking through the Special Features, I came across a couple of interesting bits to note... firstly, the graphics were done by our very own WETA Productions (these guys are popping up everywhere these days, and have been behind some rather good movies!), and secondly the singer of the music video "Keep Your Mind Wide Open", was the actress playing young Leslie - AnnaSophia Robb. Not a bad singing voice on the girl as well as being semi-decent with her acting abilities as well (although there were places where she seemed to "over-act" a little, but with maturity and practise, that can be fixed).
This movie is very much about the "Keeping your mind wide open" idea, and shows that with a little bit of imagination, even bullies, difficult problems- and loss- can be dealt with. Not bad for a rainy day, but nothing major to write home about.
