For not really being into fast food for last couple years (as I just can't stand the grease and yuk feeling after) I love being able to have this healthy option at McDonalds when I go with my family, as they love the golden arches. Love having the "Hot Chicken Salad" every time I have been. Always a nice juicy piece of chicken breast, never really had yuk lettuce its always been nice and clean, tomatoes always yum. Only had it with Caesar or Avocado and Garlic dressings, but might bite the bullet and branch out and try other dressings.
Wait time has so far never been overly to long, nothing worse than having to wait on your food or them missing a couple of things you have been waiting on. Only negative for me on this product is not enough chicken with it being a chicken salad but again that's just me.
Have recommended this salad to a couple of healthy friends who now only buy this when purchasing McDonalds. Actually had hubby try and steal some of it too because his burgers haven't been enough for him. Love McDonalds always my "go to" takeaway even more so when they have amazing healthy options, with amazing clean products with yummy flavour.
Good on McDonalds for actually having a healthy menu, and adapting it and changing it, as they do with their burger meals. Its great to have a company that doesn't just have a healthy option for the sake of it. They try to change it up, and get people to eat them. The salad pictured above is not the current chicken salad available.
Including tomato, cucumber, fancy lettuce, croutons, and your choice of sauces, this salad was indeed delicious. And pretty healthy. For the healthiest option you could ask to have your chicken seared, instead of crispy. The variety of sauces was essential, as it dictates the entire flavour of the salad. As I don't eat Avocado, if every salad included Avocado and Garlic, then I'd never have tried it. But the option to choose my own dressing, means that this salad becomes more accessible.
Not very well advertised at the time, I'm not too surprised that it got quickly replaced, but I am disappointed. The salad that replaced it, contains raw red cabbage, and uncooked carrots, which makes it an incredibly difficult meal to eat without tongs. The above pictured salad, was great. It just needed the marketing and advertising that the new healthy choices menu has.
I am not usually a salad fan, but this salad looked so good I had to try it.
There was a three minute wait on my salad, I think this is standard wait time as they need to cook the chicken, slice it and place on top of the salad. They are unable to premake the salad as the chicken needs to be hot, and the salad cold.
I took the lid off my container, and was pleasantly surprised. The chicken was laid nicely over the salad, and the salad was absolutely fresh and included rocket leaves and tomato pieces. I drizzled over my balsamic dressing and dug in.
The chicken was delicious, very flavoursome and not dry.
This salad will set you back $7.95, but it definitely is quality.
This is a huge step up from their previous 'chicken salad' offering, and actually much tastier than the Tuna Salad which helped launch their Healthy Options menu.
The chicken is crumbed and cooked to golden perfection, sliced and laid on top of what is becoming a fairly standard salad base. Same choices of dressings, but you lose the crispy garlic croutons... not a bad trade really.
Not a lot can really be said about this... it is just a variation on a standard McD's salad really, but a good one for sure.
