My daughter recently did another cup cake day fundraiser for a local charity. The challenge for us was to make 100 cupcakes for her to sell to raise the money, which isn't as easy as it sounds when you have an 11 year old full of ideas on how these cupcakes should look. We were raising money for a local animal rescue shelter so the theme was animals.
I decided the easiest option was to use fondant and when buying that fondant I spotted this at my local Culinary Council. I bought it as I thought it would save a lot of time in attatching the fondant pieces to the cupcakes. I would usually make a jam syrup or similar to get the pieces sticking so having something ready made and already in an applicator was a great relief.
I opened the bottle when I got home and tried the adhesive and it was really foul tasting which almost put me off using it. However you only need to use a tiny dab and with all the fondant you are applying once the adhesive is dry you can't even taste it when eating the cupcake. It made decorating the cupcakes so much easier the nozzle which is a bit like a nozzle on a pva glue bottle squirts a dab onto the cupcake and then you place the fondant on top, hold for a few seconds and it is attatched, easy as that!!
