Beauty and the Beast product reviews

For some reason I totally dodged watching this when I was younger. I think it must have come out at the time when I thought I was much too old for a Disney Princess film. Strange because I did manage to get to the Lion King. However, the older Disney movies have been showing on Disney Junior lately and so I took the opportunity to watch this with my daughter one cold day.

With a big bowl of popcorn and hiding under a duvet on the couch, we took this film in. I am quite familiar with the fairytale having read it a lot as a girl. The Disney version is a little different as Belle doesn't have sisters. However, the story follows enough of the fairytale, that you can see where the story is going.

I really liked Belle as a princess. She is bookish and smart. She doesn't want to just settle down with the first guy who decides she is pretty enough. She is inventive and resourceful and has a great imagination. As a girl I always had my head in a book so I really related to her. My daughter's favourite was all the talking funny inanimate objects. I found these a little creepy, especially Chip the teacup with a chip in him, and the overly flirty candle. But it was all part of the magic.

I thought that the way the friendship and love grew was really natural. It did seem to happen a little quick, but in 90 or so minutes you don't have time to build into a truly natural timeframe. Thank goodness for montages. The end was satisfying and had both me and my daughter smiling.

Beauty and the Beast, one of those classic Disney movies that I loved as a child and now, at least one of my children, loves it. Belle ends up living in a castle with Beast in exchange for her fathers freedom. As we see at the start Beast is really a prince who did not have a kind heart and must now prove inner beauty.

I love to sing along to this movie time and time again. The songs are fun and classic and I always enjoy humming away at random times and hearing my 5 year old not only hear and recognize the song, but start to sing the song as well (though he really mangles the song at the moment, there's still time).

It's a classic story that love conquers all, that whilst if analysed isn't the best of story-lines (after all Belle is rather trapped in the castle, and Beast is a bit of a brute), I don't bother to think beyond the movie when I'm watching it. It's a movie that will be popular for years to come.

This was one of my favourite movies as a child and was also a favourite for my daughter. A classic fairytale love story where love will transform a hideous beast into a handsome prince. I think every young girl dreams of one day meeting a handsome prince so fairytales like these really capture young girls hearts and imaginations.

In this movie The Beast must learn to love Belle which isn't hard as she is beautiful but she must in turn learn to love him. This all must happen before the final petal falls from a magical rose or the Beast will be stuck as a beast forever. Magical enchancted characters make this movie come to life as talking singing candle sticks and clocks do everything they can to make Belle stay at the castle and see the nice side of the beast.

In the end love conquers all and all the characters are transformed and then we see what the characters are like the footstool who is actually the family dog and the little tea cup who is actually a little boy.

It has it's not so nice character Gaston who is full of himself and thinks he should have Belle all for himself and can't understand why she wouldn't just love him so gathers all the villagers to kill the beast, but as Belle realised she loved him he didn't die.
