Lake Hawea Holiday Park is a family friendly, traditional camp-ground with well maintained facilities, a selection of private, sheltered tent camping areas, powered and unpowered motor-home and caravan sites as well as a selection of cabin and cottage accommodation.
All of the sites on the five hectare lakeside camp ground offer easy foot access to Lake Hawea and have unequalled views of the surrounding mountains.
Fishing, boating, hiking and mountain-biking trails are all literally on the doorstep of the park, with Hawea township only ten minutes walk away.

Recently we decided to take our children to puzzle world in Wanaka, as we have never been before. As it is winter, the roads in central can be very icy and unsafe, so with a little investigation we found a wonderful place to stay that would not cost us the earth.
Lake Hawea Holiday Park was the place to stay. Situated in a picturesque and beautiful are in Hawea, right beside the lake...hence the name. The cost for four adults and five children for one night, just $155.00 including use of the toilets, shared kitchen etc.
This gave us 2 cabins side by side, easily recognizable for the children by the bright coloured doors; one red and one blue. Each cabin had a double bed, a set of single bunks and a single bed, along with table and chairs, fridge, and for heating a floor and a wall heater.
The cabins given to us were also situated right by the children's playground, with views of the lake behind that. Meaning while the children were at the playground, just a few meters away, they were always fully insight.
The park has a few cabins, tent sites, caravan sites as well as shared kitchen, plenty of toilets and showers and a wash house.
The Lake is right on the doorstep, as well as bush walks and areas for mountain biking, with bikes etc available for hire.
The operators of Lake Hawea Holiday Park are two of the nicest people we have ever met. Making sure everything was as it should be, very friendly and gave the children extras goodies just because they can.
Even though it was winter when we stayed, the cabins were warm, everything was clean and tidy and we had a truly wonderful time. We definitely intend on returning there in the summer. And the park is also closely situated to Hawea, Wanaka and Queenstown, so a great place to stay with plenty of attractions around, yet so much to do right there on the door step.
Highly recommended for sure.
