I have stayed at the Copthorne Hotel in Wellington a few times , as well as at the one in Auckland , and they are a great and friendly place to stay . My first time was a few years ago now for a conference - where the conference was also in the hotel . It was incredibly convenient to have my room there too - meaning any forgotten items could quickly be grabbed .
I made the most of my time there - indulging in a few of the things they had on offer - with my favourite being that there is a pool on site . Being that I have stayed there for 3 - 7 nights each stay - being able to swim - and also - just around the corner - maybe 5 minutes walk was a fitness centre - so convenient! . There are many other amenities there also - and though I did not need to utilise them all - I used the message service, the laundry service and the broadband - as well as the Sky channels in room .
The Copthorne Hotel is very well situated - and close to the things I wanted to see and enjoy while I was there - namely the cable car, Te Papa museum and Cuba Street . Being so close to the water it was awesome to de-stress and walk along there in the evening .
The rooms themselves that I have stayed in each time ( different one each time ) have been nothing but fantastic - clean - and I mean really clean , could not fault them , spacious , well equipped , comfortable , but also with a concierge and room service if there was anything I needed . I was really pleased to see that I did not have to have my room cleaned every day , nor soap etc replaced or towels - part of their effort to be more environmentally conscious.
The staff were incredibly polite and helpful - making the atmosphere relaxed and enjoyable to be in . The second night I went down for a coffee in the bar area and the barista remembered my slightly different order and room number to charge it to - I was very impressed with the attention to detail that showed .
In summary - I would definitely recommend this hotel for others to stay at , and do not think there is much they could do to improve the hotel - apart from price. It is on the pricey side - but then, you totally get what you pay for and you will walk out of the Copthorne Hotel having enjoyed the little luxuries and attention to detail .
