I have to say I LOVE this product. The mayo was a gorgeous light yellowy colour and the consistency was smooth in the best possible way. Not being a mustard fan I was a bit dubious that it would be too strong but in fact the flavours work so well together that it didn't taste mustardy at all and the saffron and dill got their chance to show they were part of this.

Initially I tried it with chunky cut carrots and cauli like a dip - it tasted good but I knew there was more to it. I invited friends over for a barbecue and all of them, without a doubt, loved it. It was fabulous drizzled over new boiled potatoes and I can see how it would make a great potato salad although if you were catering for a group it could get expensive. On it's own with the spuds was enough - it didn't need anything else to make it's mark - and I love things that taste great and are easy to use.

I had cooked some fresh asparagus and it complemented that vegetable extremely well - the mayo drizzled over the asparagus looked and tasted great. I think it would be great as an alternative to the time consuming hollandaise sauce.

I love that Cannon Hill put ideas for uses on the side of each container and I will purchase this again so I can take advantage of other uses. The containers are quite small but then I guess I don't have to share it, do I??

This was amazing. I never would have thought of this combination myself, and I do like to experiment in my kitchen. One of the few perks of being retired - lots of time to fill in. Sure, mayo and mustard is nothing new, but to add dill and saffron was inspired.

The saffron was more about the colour as far as I could tell, because I couldn't detect any of that in the flavour. But the dill shone through amazingly well and really gave this an almost "creamy tartare sauce, but smoother" feel to me. That was a real winning shot.

This was great as a dip when mixed with some sour cream and a bit of black pepper, and I had some of the whanau around when I opened this. I couldn't hide it fast enough, so everyone got to shove their chips, crackers and even fingers in for a taste. Everyone agreed that we had to get more of this one day soon.

I really enjoyed it as the dip, but I would have liked to have played around with some other uses too. Sadly, by the time the whanau had finished ravaging it, there was barely enough to spread on a single slice of bread and make a half-hearted ham and cheese sandwich for myself. Never mind.

All in all, though I didn't get much chance to really give it a broad testing, it proved itself well enough that I know I will be looking to squeeze a few pots of this into my budget in the next few weeks. Thanks for the chance to review it!

This morning when I got up I thought I should have my normal breakfast (very uncouth), of toast with cheese and alfalfa sprouts, with mayo. I had recently received Cannon Hill's Saffron, Dill and Mustard Mayonnaise, so decided I'd try it the way I love mayonnaise. I can be so classy sometimes.

Like Canon Hill's Lemon Passionfruit Curd, the Mayonnaise comes in a simple plastic tub, with a not so simple lid. Again I needed to use a sharp knife to get into this sucker. And when I finally jimmied the lid off, the contents of the tub exploded forth onto my fingers. Rather than be disgusted by this though, I was excited - yay, now I had a reason to try it straight from the tub. Licky lick.

The mayonnaise is a beautiful creamy mint green colour. And the taste, a fresh creamy flavour with some tartness from the dill and mustard. It was delicious; I almost didn't feel like a pig eating a good tablespoon-worth straight. I slathered even more onto my toasty salad treats and enjoyed every bite. I could see this mayo being delicious with a potato salad, served with fries or as someone else mentioned stirred into mash potato. I'm going to be doing some experimenting this week, that's for sure.

This mayo is delicious, and quite different from anything I have seen at the supermarket. I would definitely consider picking this up again in future. Despite the tub explosion, the taste well makes up for the mess.

"What delight, through yonder fridge door breaks... it is the best, and Cannon Hill the one..." - with apologies to Bill for butchering his fine prose. Wink Icon

This was my second taster in the array of review goodies, and it was a joint effort. After wolfing down much of the Hummus myself, I figured it was best to let the family get in on some of this delight... so it was a "dips and spreads" smorgasbord lunch yesterday. A bag full of bread rolls, all the Cannon Hill goodies arrayed on the table, some basic extras (margarine, cheese, ham) and away we went.

To be honest, I don't think we used much of the extras... plain bread with the various spreads, dips and dukkah was all we wanted, after the first round of tastes - but this mayo was a favourite all round, even Mr3 had a taste and declared it "deewishis!" High praise indeed.

That night we had mashed potatoes with dinner, and I took a gamble and stirred some of this through the mash - what a wonderous flavour enhancement - a touch of herby with a zing of mustard, brilliant! I would highly recommend that you try this, it's well worth it!

Overall, this is certainly something I plan to add to the "whenever I can get it" shopping list - and if you enjoy tasty, flavoursome, unique foods, then I would recommend you do too.
