Product reviews...
After reading the reviews others had written about Roshen Coffee Time Biscuits I had to try them. I bought a packet of each of the three flavours. They were only $1.19 each at Pak'n Save. I felt that the packets were very good value for money.
I didn't notice much difference between the baked milk and the vanilla varieties. The coconut was definitely my favourite flavour but it wasn't a strong flavour. All the varieties of biscuits looked the same with a lovely pattern on them. They were a cross between a wine biscuit and a short bread.
I had some chocolate icing left over from a cake I had just made so decided to sandwich two biscuits together with the icing. I thought the biscuit might break while I was spreading the icing on it because of it's buttery texture. Surprisingly they didn't break and the children (and I) loved eating them.
These biscuits are the perfect size for the lunch box and there weren't any brought home by my kids. I also like the smaller sized packet. It is ideal for people living alone. For people like me, with a family, it allowed me to buy a small packet to try rather than buy a larger packet that I was unsure would be eaten.
Roshen 'Coffee Time' biscuits, are great for just that, having with your coffee. Not too sweet and very moreish. Biting in with a soft crunch then almost dissolve as you chew them.
We found it very hard to differentiate between the baked milk and vanilla butter flavours. But I guess similar to Griffins Round Wine and Vanilla Wine type biscuits, they're all pretty similar. Coconut definitely has a strong coconut flavour, which was very tasty.
They seemed fairly crumbly, so don't expect them to stay in one piece jiggling round in the school lunchbox. They are thicker and larger than similar flavoured biscuits I've tried.
The patterns are great and being a square shape makes them good for sticking around the side of a decorated birthday cake (depending on your theme - perfect if you're making a castle). The kids tried decorating them with icing and lollies but found they tended to break pretty quickly (not that it ruined their enjoyment at all, just meant they had to be careful while decorating). It then became an incentive to eat them quicker! The kids even tried using them to make patterns and that worked well (e.g. place biscuit under some paper and rub over paper with a crayon - biscuit pattern comes through on the paper).
I tried dunking them in my coffee for a couple of seconds (as you do!). They absorbed the coffee taste really well, probably due to their thickness they remained intact (didn't dissolve and fall in the coffee - even after a 5 second dunk).
And for the health conscious I checked the weight watchers ProPoints values a serving of two biscuits was 3 points - so not too bad a sacrifice with your cuppa.
All up, if you're a lover of Girl Guide biscuits (the ones you used to get without chocolate on them) then you're sure to love these Roshen Coffee Time Biscuits. I'd try all the flavours and see which your family and friends like best!
For "plain" biscuits, these ones pack plenty of punch! They have a wonderfully buttery kind of taste that remind me of shortbread but aren't too crumbly.
The flavours are just perfect, not overpowering but not too light either. I was especially impressed by the coconut flavour. I'm not usually a coconut fan only because biscuits never usually seem to capture it to my (overly finicky) satisfaction but these were bang on. Not at all a "fake" coconut taste that I sometimes feel other biscuits have.
We enjoyed these as a morning or afternoon tea snack and the kids (Miss 4.5 and Mstr 1) also devoured them at rapid speed, all 3 varieties equally, so none stood out as a firm favourite.
We did have every intention of using them in some more creative way but given how moreish they are we couldn't bring ourselves to. Might have to wait until I get my hands on another pack before trying them out in s'mores.
Price wise, seems very good to me so this would be one we would look at buying for the pantry. Two thumbs way up!
I LOVE THESE!!!!
The coconut flavour are the best!!! I could eat these for breakfast, lunch and tea. The size is perfect, the taste is perfect and they dont crumble when you dunk them. I will be filling my cupboards with these.
I really enjoyed the other flavours as well, vanilla and baked milk. They didnt last long in our house. Great for my daughters lunch and perfect for a snack before tea for Mr nearly 3.
Thank you Roshen for some fantastic products!!
Roshen coffee time biscuits are wonderful for sharing with friends over coffee, and also great for the kids lunches and a quick snack.
I really liked the coconut ones, I thought they tasted really good. The coconut flavour was not at all overbearing either and they were really good dunked in my coffee. I did not share these.
The vanilla ones are perfect for fudge slice, very nice flavour and set well with the other ingredients. You get the perfect amount of biscuits in the packet too.
The Baked milk packet I unfortunately did not get to taste. They were eaten, I'm guessing, by my hubby and children. And no one seems to know anything about them (hehe, funny that), so unfortunately at this point in time I can not comment on that flavour. But if the others are anything to go by then they will be just as great I am sure.
These are definitely worth every sent and a little more.
